To be honest, anyone that got offended because I hadn't replied to a text message within a few hours, I probably wouldn't stay friends with for very long. I like low maintenance friendships.

There's a chance your service provider is slow to send texts can sometimes happen when there is an issue with the network

I rarely reply to texts quickly, usually because I am busy, or don't hear the noise.

I have to admit I like friendships that are more laid back than anyone getting stressed because I don't answer straight away!

I have mates that have lasted over 45 years, but we don't pressure each other.

When you move, you'll probably make new mates anyway, and old mates will just be the odd phone call and cards.

You do sound very needy, you only texted them this morning and have no idea what they are doing today, yes it might be a bit annoying when people don't respond but getting upset about it after only a few hours is a bit over the top. If you wanted to 'plan for the day' you should have done so before the day arrived. Not everyone is available at the drop of a hat.

I think assuming I'm 'needy' is a bit personal. I am one of the least needy people you could meet, a lovely product of my childhood.

Also, for the purposes of information, we have always made plans on the day. We don't plan days/weeks/months in advance because we aren't able to so me texting in the morning to meet that day is not unusual. Them not answering, however, is.

My phone is somewhere in my car, it fell out this morning. It's pouring with rain and I am too lazy to go and get it. Any texts can wait.

You're having a stress-b1tch, it's fine, I understand why but I do think you need to calm down.

Well, many schools are shut today, because of strikes, so perhaps they have had to organise essential stuff, like childcare etc.,?

I didn't say you were needy, only that you sound needy, it's my perception of you from your posts, that's all.

Doing things on the day is fine if you all have all the time in the world so if they're busy they're busy but you have two weeks. If you want to see your friends then maybe you need to set a specific night for a farewell dinner or something.

If they are your friends then they'll care and make time, if not then who cares? You're moving anyway.

My texts usually arrive right away but can take hours!!

I have a modern phone and live in a big city with great mobile coverage but it can still be hours before texts arrive.

If no-one has replied, I would assume they were busy........or simply didn't get my messages.......

No reason to think its anything more.

There could be many reasons why they haven't responded yet. I don't always have my phone on. I've been moaned at for this - because he sent a text 3 and a half hours ago and I hadn't sent a response. Or rather, I hadn't checked my phone.

I rarely respond to texts quickly. I will respond when I have 2 minutes to do so.

Like everyone has said there's dozens of reasons.

Phones can be really odd at times too. Sometimes I'll get texts instantly, other times I'll get 4-5 through at once hours after they've actually been sent due to some sort of network issue, which was really handy when my sister got taken into hospital, due to the network nobody could call me, and four hours after I got about 30 texts from my parents panicking!!
