Thanks for your lovely words Jakes-mum, what a lovely thing to say, and I must remember that. I am proud of ds, he's a lovely lad and an absolute ray of sunshine from the moment he gets up, singing to himself in the shower and loving life (except when the hormonal "kevin" appears - don't know whether you are old enough to remember that Harry Enfield character). I do "try" not to compare our journey, but sometimes its so hard. On a potting note - £6 for the tin - go me!!!
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

Hi folks, what an 'orrible wet day, well tis down here, but is it stopping us from potting? No way!!!! :j Keep going folks and {{{hugs}}} to all those in our family who are in need of them.
Morning potters!! £5.72 for the tin yesterday - I can hardly sleep with anticipation now - its sooooo close.
Went to a wedding at the weekend which was fab, though my ds (16) made "friends" with a 7 year old who was far advanced of him :(, it was lovely that they went around together as it gave me and dh some respite but on the other hand it was a stark reality check. He is going to college and in some ways doing so well now that he can get the bus on his own but then seeing him in his element with such a youngster was both uplifting to see and sad iykwim.

That was so heart-warming to read about your DS, AlwaysHappy, and let's face it, age really means nothing at all so long as people get along together. It's so good that as well as you and DH enjoying the day - he too was happy and not left out. A joy to read and lovely to know he's doing so well! :happyhear [Edit] Just saw your latest post and your lad sounds so lovely, though I think we all get "Kevin" moments (no, not old enough to recall the Harry Enfield character.....:silenced:) it's normal and that's what your DS is, however you view it. Here's a {{{hugs}}} for you on the not so good days. :kisses3:

Aside from that, I go along with what jakes-mum said, very philosophical and caring indeed. :)

Many thanks, Modesty, he's on strong antibiotics, so here's hoping he'll soon be fine. Thankfully I remembered that runny honey lines the throat and got him to take a teaspoon before we went to bed last night and he had a much better night, so did I!!! Thanks so much for your wishes, the same to your DH.

£2.43 has gone into the pot to kick start November (our final month!!) and another £3.17 in my potting purse ready to go in tonight! I am now officially over the £800 mark! Expect more potting from me, I'm going to have a big push for November.

WOW Ruth!!!! Well done, though, you've overtaken me!!!! I'm really chuffed for you, so.....what's next for your pot I wonder! :D

All good wishes with your lucky feeling, EMMAP, let's hope it becomes reality. ;)

lynnejk I have had that before.I stopped to listen to the speil about the work the charity does.Went to put my hand in my purse to get some coins, and the man said "Oh,no-we don't take donations,we are looking for monthly subscription....." Funny they wouldn't have a tin to chuck some coins into as an option for someone who didn't want a permanent, ongoing commitment 017.gif.

Thank you, Lynne, though he should have gone a week ago then it wouldn't have be so bad and quite possibly wouldn't have gone down to his chest - eejit!!

An element of craftiness there, Lynne & Saver-upper, aren't all charities trying to get us all to sign up to something we really can't commit to for certain?!! Surely giving what we can afford when we can afford it is the most important thing. If they're not careful they'll push folk away altogether!

Good for you, Vicky, a £1 is great! :j
Have a good Friday, SPCers, save well - and.......after today there are only......20 DAYS left til 27th November!! :j

Haha, AlwaysHappy, I am indeed old enough to remember 'Kevin' and that's what I call my own moody so and so upstairs :D I loved that show! though my favourite sketch had to be Harry and Lulu the toddlers :rotfl: I'm just glad you got where I was going, its so hard to make things sound how you want them to sound when your typing it.

Oh Sue, I totally skimmed over your DH being poorly! I'm totally rubbish! Well wishes to him and everyone else whos poorly, DS has been in bed all day with flu like symptoms, but I think its just a run on from his flu jab last week, when DH and I had ours it took about a week for it to hit us but was very short when it arrived. DS has already moaned at DD for interrupting his you tube watching on his phone so definitely on the road to recovery ;) I expect the quiet 'yes please mum, thank you' to be replaced by the usual grunting by this evening :rotfl:

Got 9p for my pot this evening so will pop that in my hidey hole later on :j :j

    20 days to goooooooooooooooooooooo!! C'MON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :j :j :j :rotfl:

  • I have only just realised what has happened to jakes-mum. How absolutely awful for a member of the family to stoop so low. ((Hugs)) to you....

Hope DH is feeling better Sue, dear FiL is not very well at the mo and I feel like I have a cold coming on. Perhaps we need some frost to kill the germs.

A lovely £1 potted today and I can't believe it's so close to opening day :j I have my bank bags ready and waiting!

  • Hi all!! Not a lot of potting being done here but I can't wait to open it and see what's there in 20 days time!

It's nice to know you can save that much without really trying!!

  • Feeling very :(. I'm having to dip into savings yet again, car was in for service yesterday and because I try to budget this in I had the money to pay for that but found out she needed work done on the suspension as well as a few bulbs, break pads and disks. Need to borrow £100 out of the bank to go along with cash I had been saving for emergencies to pay for it so now to change my total on my sig.
Hopefully I can make this up again before we open our pots but needs must and without the car I would find work harder so worth it to me.

I know its disappointing SpiralingDown, but just think of the bigger pickle you would have been in without your tin. The car is a necessity to keep on the road (and needs to be safe to drive), so well done on having the money to fix it. Hopefully you will be able to at least replace some of what has been used in the near future.

I know it's a shame but at least you have saved the money and not having to borrow it and pay interest ;) A bit of a bummer I understand but we are in same boat and have to have a car for DH to get to work.

I suppose it's a bit like us and our pots eh - we put in what we can and when we can. I think for most people it's hard to commit to an on-going amount for a year and then feel a f***** when we can't eh :D

I've put £7 in my pot today and trying not to get too excited about the count-up yet as it's quite a few days away and I'll get sick and giddy otherwise

Hope you all having a fantastic Friday

Ooooooooo a bit of a spendy day in the Jakesmum household today! DH and I decided to go out for the afternoon and got a bit carried away :o. I do have a new addition to my musical/LED christmas display though! From B&M, they were selling them at less than half the price of our garden centre (where I bought all the others over the years) so DH said I might as well get the train through the mountain one that I wanted for £25 instead of the £60 it would have cost me :D
Am soooooo running out of room for them all! plus there is an entire fairground scene at the trifling cost of 'ahem' £100 'ahem' which I would reeeeeeally reeeeeeally like! can I justify it as garden centre had them up for £200  :rotfl:

Just to let you all know, my sticky fingered friend has now owned up ;) Jakesmum always knows! knew they wouldn't be able to fight telling me for long.

I'm sure I have some pennies for the pot but my purse is in the kitchen and I just can't be bothered to go get it :D
