Lots of companies do specialist concealer brushes (though an eye shadow brush might well "do"), but how about a really cheap one to experiment with - cos Google found me this Elf one:
http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/product~prodID~38.htm
Mine is a Bare Escentuals bought from eBay:
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/__Bare-Escentuals-concealer-brush_W0QQLHQ5fPrefLocZ1QQ_flnZ1QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em283
You need dense, shortish hair.
BE say to apply concealer after foundation, which surprised me. Many people don't bother to buy concealer, they just use the foundation - I'm hoping you will be pleasantly surprised by the coverage - besides my blotches I've got the red-nose variety of rosacea and I don't find it necessary to use concealer. But I'm not too fussy, I just like to look "unremarkable" rather than gorgeous
Girls who have recently bought their brushes may have good advice for youAnd of course Jeannie is the best source for EB-specific info. Where are ya, Jeannie? (She goes to work  )

Actually, I have one quick question which I don't think the thread answered (From what I read, but I am sorry if someone did comment on it and I've missed it)
Whats the best way to apply the concealer? I am looking at getting the Colour Corrector Healing Minerals concealer from EB, but am unsure of how best to apply it, e.g. what sort of brush is best or is it easier to just use a finger (one with a short nail, lol)
I am getting the Kabuki brush from EB to try with the foundtation samples. At £10.79 and along with everyones recommendations it looks pretty good value. And had also thought about getting the Eyeshadow brush perhaps to apply the concealer with but I dont know if it would do the job?
Amy
Is that the green mineral you are asking about? Take care with that, it will make you look very ill if you use too much
I use it when my rosacea is at its worse. I use it to tone down large areas of redness. I use the BE flawless face brush which is the same as the lily lolo small powder brush. and just buff on the tiniest amount BEFORE foundation then if I need more I put another fine dusting over. I do mean tiny amount, trying to use enough to block the redness straight away will only make you look like a ghost. Its as it warms with your face that you can see that its working and killing the red.
For small areas to cover I just use a dab more foundation but I use the lily lolo concealer brush. Its great for blending and dabbing. I do have concealers but rarely need to use them as a bit more foundation usually does the trick
I see EB have cut their range of brushes back and the ones they are selling now look to be a lot different. kabukis are sold everywhere now, my everyday one I got from ELF for a couple of pound and its just as good as my BE one that cost 10 times that. I use a big old cheapo blusher brush from the savers range from superdrug to apply my bronzer and amy brush I lay my hands on for the blush0 -

I think thats the one I was looking at. Colour corrector... the website said it was green.
I've decided not to get it at the moment. Taken advice and decided to just get the foundations, see if they'll be all right and cover the spots and scars from previous spots that I'd normally use concealer on.
Ordered 5 different samples so hopefully I'll find one in there that would work for me. And have ordered one of their Kabuki Brushes. Am waiting excitedly now for them to be delivered. (Along with the hard back copy of "Twilight" that I ordered from Amazon shortly after... I'll be waiting on the doorstep for the postman at this rate!)
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hey all,
I just thought I'd come on here and give you a mini update on my first few days of using Mineral Foundation.
I must admit that I love it. I've only used it for 2 days so far (I would have started sooner but wanted to give myself some time to work out the best technique to putting it on before I showed my face in public). But right from the off I was able to apply it and it looked better than my old liquid foundation ever did. It really helped me having read this thread about how all of you had gotten on with your MMU and the various hints and tips you had given to its application etc.
I started off using EB healing foundation in Nude and it looked great, the colour suited my skin tone and it felt so light and even. It didn't cake onto my skin where liquid foundations do, even in areas where I've broken out in spots particularly badly.
I must admit I'm at the stage in the month where the breakouts are quite minor but even so because of the way that spots come up and scar and then take ages to fade, I always have had red blotches across my face quite a lot.... the MMU covered it nicely even with the one application. The red showed through a little in patches but it was greatly toned down.
This morning before work I tried it again (quickly as I'd overslept ) using the sample of 'English Rose' which again worked very very well. I did two layers this time, the first all over (no need to close my eyes... I have rather strong prescripton glasses so taking them off worked well as I was able to see the outline of my face and facial features but fuzzily enough that I don't get tied up in where the powder has gone and not.) and then the second a lighter buff all over then with my glasses on again I went over the bits that needed a little more attention.
I think I prefered the Nude foundation to the English Rose that I tried today, purely because it acted against the redness in my skin where it was scarred. The English Rose has a slightly pinker tone to it, which although quite pretty, didn't quite fit with my skin tone and didn't fully cover the spots/scars.
Overall though I am soooo pleased that I've found MMU. It is a lot easier to apply than I had imagined it would be. I am going to look into getting a longer handled Kabuki. The brush I have (Deluxe Kabuki from EB) is great, soft, compact and picks up the powder well. However it doesn't quite feel right when using it. I'd prefer to have a handle to hold on to rather than just the base.
Also I think I am going to look at which moisturiser I am using. The one I have at the moment is ok. (just ok, nothing special, It has replaced the Neutrogina one that I had which has recently run out) It sometimes leaves my face feeling a little like rubber does when you run your finger along it. I've got another moisturiser from Simple which I've used a little of before. (it was only bought as a temporary thing when I went on a trip and forgot my usual one) But Next time I am in Manchester or London I'm going to see what Kiehl's have. A friend uses their one of their moisturisers and swears by it!
Anyway... I'm going to try the other powder shades out that I have over the next few days, experiment with techniques etc but I do think that the first one I tried (EB Healing foundation in Nude) is perfect.
Thanks to everyone for this thread as it's helped so much! I'll never go back to those icky liquid foundations now!! :T

Nude and English Rose are the 2 colours I've just ordered samples of. (I think the English Rose is wishful thinking on my part
)
I wonder if you've been confused by mentions of "close your eyes"... we meant to imply that MMU is so easy to apply you can do it with your eyes closedOf course, feel free to open them to see the effect and where to touch up or whether you need another layer.
I use a brush called Ultimate Buffer which I got from the US years ago - but they've gone out of business. However, yesterday in a discussion on MMU on Shopping Telly's forum I found that an Ultimate range is available - the Buffer looks similar to mine and is a similar price (but you may find something cheaper if you're very into money saving):

It's great to see another money-saver who's happy to find MMU!

I did find it useful to not be able to see the coverage of the make-up until after I'd finished applying... I have a habit of sticking in one section until it looks just right and therefore over applying in that area... making it look like I've trowled it on compared to the rest of my face. Thats probably less of an issue with dry powder than the liquid I was using before... but you get the idea? :rotfl:
Nude looks good on my pale skin. It gives it a little glow whilst not looking fake. And as I say, it works better if you've got areas of red skin... e.g. spots etc as it's much more neutral where English Rose is slightly pink.
I've also got Sunshine, Luminous and Barley to try out. They were long shots but I thought they were worth a go.
Thanks again

Glad you are enjoying your MMU!
You can always tap in a little of one shade into the nude etc. EB saved my face ...sorry for the pun!
If you find that you still have a red patch or spot showing through - try what I do, just put your little finger (or any finger really) into the MMU (careful, only a tiny bit) and pat it gently onto that area. Works for me!
EB got a new website??? Oh god, I'm going to have to have a look now, shouldn't really, I'm off work today - have some piggy type symptoms... and I don't get paid for being off ill.... so I shouldn't even think about buying anything...Genie

Hi Jeannie
Sorry you are fluey, get well soon!
I got my EB samples today, I ordered Nude and English Rose, each in the 2 different finishes. Got a bonus Barley, and I'm wondering if that's because they've sent me Luminous instead of Nude  Was it an error or are they out of stock of Nude? (Rhetorical question.) The Luminous looks way too pale.
My face is very itchy today (been trying a Vit C serum for a few days, it stings!!!) so I'm going to find a washed brush and have a go later on. I should get an idea of texture even if the colours are wrong.
EB's website is very slow today - is that because it's swamped with MoneySavers?
(I'm still on the electronic fags, I must be on my 10th thousand pounds by now - I am the e-cig spending queenbut no tobacco smoked for 9 months and 5 days.)

Oh no, that isn't good that they have sent you the wrong one. Was there no message or note on the delivery note that they included with the samples? Maybe you can ask that they send you a sample of Nude once they have it back in stock.
Luminous is very pale, I am wearing it today but I dont like the colour. It doesn't cover right especially where there are red patches, and it makes me look washed out.
Still have Sunshine and Barley to try out, but I have a feeling they're going to be too dark. You never know though!
Nude is still the best one that I have used.
Think I am going to have to go back on my antibiotics for my spots again though. I've got a prescription from the docs about 2 months ago but they kept making me ill so I stopped using them. I was given another one but kept getting ill from those too, though I wasn't sure if that was the original ones combining with the new ones or if they were both having the same adverse effect. I think I'm clean of all of them now so might try the new ones again... I hate my skin sometimes! I will definately try using my little finger to apply the powder over red patches.... I used to apply concealer with my finger anyway so could work out quite well, thanks for the tip
I hope you get better soon Jeannie, is there a lot of Swine Flu going around where you live at the moment. I only know 1 person with it but know of people who know people with it. It's not too widespread here, but am dreading September. I work in a University and if Freshers flu is anything to go by, we'll all be in bed for a month at the beginning of the new academic year... staff and students inclusive!
