I didn't really like the Kabuki brush much. I got one from EB that has a longer handle. I swirl in the lids of the foundation pots, dip a bit into one or two different shades depending on what mood I am in! If I want to look a bit tanned I add a bit of cinnamon. I'm probably a different shade each day!

I tried using a small bowl - but then I used too much powder and it all went on caked looking! I think I tend to fluff it on rather than buff - and when a brush is new, don't buff or fluff too hard as it can sort of scratch.

I don't know what brushes are on EB site - I know it has changed and I really can't afford to look ........... I end up spending!

Re the Johnsons wipes - I tried the really sensitive ones once and they were a bit chemical like, just go for the bog standard ones - sorry about the pun there... :D

This is the one that I have from EB : http://www.elementalbeauty.co.uk/brushes-and-accessories/deluxe-kabuki-brush-1.html but the plain green one not the Pink one. Its Goat hair which I think is coarser than some you can get. Many places use 'Sable' (dont know if thats spelt right) hair which I think is softer, as is badger. Might have a look at synthetic hair brushes too just to see what sort of feel they can give. Poss not so great by what I have heard though I think it'd depend on how well the brush as a whole was made, not just the bristles. I definately want a longer handled one though.

Oh and Pun away about Baby wipes.. hehe.

This is more similar to the brush I use for foundation

Though the one I have is not angled - may be worth having a chat with Nicola - they used to do alot more brushes than I could find on the website.

The kabuki looked lovely and soft - but I hate the stubby handle! But you may love it - its all about what we prefer as individuals.

I don't like short handled brushes & I don't really like loose powders.

If they did more mineral stuff in pressed powders I would try it more.

I don't think of it as a powder - I'm not sure it would work if it was pressed?

I remember the first few times I tried it - it went everywhere! Until I learnt the hard lesson of less is more! You really only need the tiniest bit of sprinkles... :D Plus - I like my cinnamon one which gives me a nice tanned glow in the summer - I've been known to fluff on my shoulders and backs of legs to even out any tan! It was brilliant in Cyprus last year - toned down the redness I acquired after a day or two - burnt nose is not a look I aim for.. :o

Less is definately more, luckily from having read this thread throroughly before I tried it, my first time using it was great, I used a small amount and just added until I had enough to get an even coverage. It showed me how much (or should i say how little) I need to use.

Oh and the burnt nose look isn't good at all! I've managed to avoid it so far this summer luckily... but no doubt one random day of sun might catch me out somewhere this 'summer'... thats usually what happens to me!

I might give Nicola a call, see what she would suggest as after all, she would know their foundation and any brushes inside out right?! Hehe.
It is mostly soft but the hairs are quite coarse and so are quite stiff, or at least too stiff for my liking. They may soften with use or with washing... I'll see.
But I do agree with you about the handle. I can use it but it doesn't necessarily feel right. Would rather find one thats a little longer.
I'll let you know what I do find.

    Amy,

When you do burn your nose (apparently we are due a heatwave - don't blink, you could miss it), try what I do - I just fluff a light shade on first and go off, have a pee or make a cup of tea, and then I apply a darker shade working side ways in and then fluff the darker over the lighter bit and it all seems to blend evenly, sort of.. :D

I'd never be employed as a make up artist.

My stomach hurts and I am fed up... I wonder if you can have a drink whilst on Tamiflu? A brandy would go down well... two even better... :D

Thats some sound advice Jeannie, thanks :D, I'll definately try it. I'm tempted to keep my old liquid foundation to cover if I burn my chest (below neck above bust... nothing dodgy)... that tends to be the other place that suffers. I'm so bad for getting sun burnt. A friends mum laughed at me last year because after a week away in strong sun on the south coast (nowhere exotic for my hols, lol) without getting even a hint of sunburn, I spent a week with them in Newcastle... and got burnt on a warm but mostly overcast day walking along the Tyne.

I don't know about drinking if your on Tamiflu, but if it is any consolation at all, I'm fed up too. Work is dead, I have blocked, ringing ears and am tired from lack of sleep (self induced mind you so perhaps no real sympathy is appropriate! lol)

I have just looked up Tamiflu and Alcohol.... there isn't anywhere that gives advice about it, it doesn't say not to though... if that helps? See: http://www.drugs.com/pro/tamiflu.html

    Feel better soon Jeannie!! :grouphug:

P.s. Heading home from work now.... and my internet isn't connected at home at the moment... so might not be on here til Monday unless I can find an internet cafe or a friend willing to let me borrow their net over the weekend. So if I dont speak to you all... have a good weekend! Hope you relax lots. xxx

I might look at the Liz Earle stuff for moisturiser... then I'm also tempted to get some more of the Neutrogina oil-free moisturiser as it did seem to work for me ok. I was going to go to Space NK

There can't be anything more tried and tested than the Neutrogena which you know suits you, and the dreaded Paula Begoun (Cosmetics Cop) tends to review Neutrogena stuff as "does what it says on the tin", which is a lot nicer than she is about many more expensive brands - I wouldn't go anywhere near SpaceNK  I also think that Liz Earle moisturisers are all rather oily, even the Light one. I'm trying her Cleanse & Polish for the first time and can feel oil in it so will probably revert to Gale Hayman's gel cleanser from Direct Cosmetics (one gets bored, misguidedly, because the 473ml bottle lasts such a long time ;) ).

I got the free Nude sample from Nicola @ EB today, she popped in a Barley just in case Nude was too light. How nice is that?! I used the Barley with a "contaminated" brush and it went on quite nicely, if a bit heavier than usual. I might buy another brush but need to rationalise my collection. I'm a long-handled kabuki fan too :)

I use a brush called Ultimate Buffer which I got from the US years ago - but they've gone out of business. However, yesterday in a discussion on MMU on Shopping Telly's forum I found that an Ultimate range is available - the Buffer looks similar to mine and is a similar price (but you may find something cheaper if you're very into money saving ;) ):

    It has very good feedback.
