    Hey all.
    How are things?!
I'm doing well with my EB Mineral foundations, a month on. :T

However, I've heard people talk about using Primers before they apply their foundation. I am looking at getting a primer to use as part of my makeup routine. I was just wondering what primers everyone else uses? I have seen good reviews about Smashbox Photo finish Primers but have googled and searched and found that it's quite expensive. However, I've seen that they do a Light version of it too, oil-free and ideal for acne prone/oily skin... so was perhas thinking of getting one of the travel sizes (£11 - not very MSE ) and trying it out. But was wondering if anyone had any views on it, or any other Primers that could be recommended?

I want to try and even out my skin tone and texture, it's quite rough across my forehead, and suffering from acne I get patches of spots, and scars, and dry flaky skin where the spots are beginning to heal.
I am spending tomorrow looking into Microdermabrasion courses in the local area and seeing if they might benefit me. A friend who's had it done for similar reasons suggested it would improve my skin no-end so it'd be worth a try if I can find a good and reasonably priced clinic/salon that offers it.

Anyway, going to stom waffling and go to bed. I'm so tired so sorry if there are typos in this msg. :o

why not try an exfoliator first ? I had micro dermabrasion and wasn't that impressed.

Thanks for all the post on this thread I have learnt a lot.

My EB samples have arrived and I've tried them - first was too light, second is better but my face looks a bit powdered for want of a better word and it seems to highlight some of my larger pores. I don't think I put that much on.

    Any advise please.

I had a similar problem with my pores showing quite large when I first began using it. Its possible you are perhaps using too much and not buffing enough. There really is no limit as to how much you can buff your skin, and it helps to make sure the coverage is even and not too heavy.
If your pores are very large there are some creams that can help to tighten... maybe someone who has any experience of these could give some advice? I've never really used any...

    HTH.

  • Also, don't judge the finish too soon after applying, give it half an hour or so. It "settles". I believe that a dusting of Mineral Veil equivalent before and after can seriously reduce pores and oiliness. Also make sure your moisturiser has thoroughly sunk in before applying the powders.

All of which you may have seen in this thread, but I don't know what else to suggest at the mo.

If you are looking powdered you are using too much

One of those samples can last weeks.

Tip enough to cover the tip of your wee nail into a dish and start with that, work it into your kabuki and then do a rough circle around your face then down and across the t - zone then start buffing away. I have a red t zone so I start there and work out. Once you think you have used all thats on your brush, go brush your teeth or do something for five minutes or so then go back and look. if you need more coverage somewhere then load your brush again and concentrate in those areas

I just thought I would give a little review of the Southern Magnolia Minerals products. I've been using them for 4 months.

I bought these after my Bare Escentuals kit got stolen along with my bag.

I bought the 18piece Trial Kit as it seemed a good deal and I do like the foundations and the blush and the eyeshadows. I don't think I could tell the difference between these and the Bare Escentuals ones.

I don't like the extras like the cremetherapy skin cream (feels like cornflour mixed with water) and i can't figure out how to use the mist thingy!

My biggest problem with this kit though are the brushes - they are downright painful on my skin. Absolute torture!

  • Jsut wondering about what veronarona said about US to UK delivery being quite quick: do you get clobbered with customs charges?

I often find that's the probkem, even though prices and delivery costs from US sites/companies is quite reasonable.

    Cheers!
  • I think that you can order up to £18 worth and not incur the attention of Customs :) And I think that that includes the shipping charge. However, many buyers get away with ordering more, but you takes yer chances
