I brought a laptop about 4 years ago and decided it was not for me after using it for about 2 days and the supplier was fine about a DSR return on it as long as it had all the original packaging and accessories as supplied. When I have sold laptops on ebay I've just restored in a few minutes using the restore disk so it's not as if you are making the thing un-resellable just by starting using it for a short while.

Gik, have you got a problem. So somebody doesn't agree with you and interprets something differently to you. The fact is unless the OP has the balls to take this to court or FOS then he/she isn't going to get anywhere.

Then we'll see how the judge views them playing on it for 15 minutes.

I have no problem with anyone disagreeing me I just want anyone saying laptops are not covered under the DSR to tell me where they are excluded by either name or nature?. I've replied to your points and been ignored as early as posts #5 and #6. Your implication in post #5 was as the laptop was used it could not be returned under DSR. I corrected you in post #6 and since then you you wavered between no refund, no full refund and back to no refund.

This is a Consumer Rights forum...not wants. The DSR do not exclude laptops...you may think they should...but they don't.

    Don't SHOUT, it's rude.

But surely the fact that a finance company is part of the same group of companies as the seller (to whose customers it provided its services) doesn't absolve it from it's obligations under law?

But Section 75 is making them jointly liable? So you make Very liable and Shop Direct liable......................they are the same thing. Like issuing a joint summons to Shop Direct and Very. What's the point?

I agree it doesn't exclude laptops unless they have been personalised and registered? If he'd have just opened the package and looked at the keyboard, pressed a few buttons, felt the weight etc. But he used it. Maybe get in touch with honda and get them to send you a motorbike to test drive. Then send it back.

They are the same company - GROUP

You've USED in capitals before and that was a wrong exclusion excuse under DSR. Shouting isn't working here on MSE despite what you've recommended previously?

Where is that excluded in the DSR? Where does the OP say they have personalised and registered? You capitalised USED like it was important What did I say in post #6?:-

Under the DSRs the right to cancel is not determined by the ability of the seller to resell the item as new.

It's not shouting. THIS WOULD BE SHOUTING. I'm merely making a word stand out more as the poster obviously didn't understand what a group of companies were. Maybe you'd like it in red instead.

Bold stands out BOLD is shouting...but hey you should be used to being wrong on this thread! :D

But you've said shouting gets results in the past?:(?

Because they said they'd played on it for 10 mins. They'd have to set up an account to use it.

I spent a lot longer than 10 minutes 'playing' with my current two laptops before setting anything up but doing so is not excluded under DSR...unless you can correct me?
