    Hi all,

    Happy Monday!!

Kat- sorry to hear about your bike :( , hope it gets sorted soon! What great neighbours though, jotting down the registration etc!

Had a fantastic weekend catching up with old friends and have come home with change from my allocated budget, so even better!!

SFD today as well, I had to refrain from just 'popping into town.' Currently house sitting a friend's house whilst she is away and the location is just a matter of minutes walk from the town centre- eeek!

Really need to get back into routine with some proper exercise- I have spied an exercise bike in the spare room so I might hop on it in a bit and give it a whirl!

Byebyedebthellolife - Welcome to the MSE forum, the first step is acknowledging your debt, sitting there and working out exactly how much you owe and where it has all come from. Working out what you can change to prevent adding to the debt and ultimately working out how to start knocking that debt down. So congrats you are well on your way through those first initial steps!! :)

I'm sort of new to this all. I am about 13k in debt. It is on credit cards and I have a £500 overdraft that I live in. I know where my money goes Holidays (have had 11 breaks/holidays this year already and have another 2 already booked and paid for!!) the pub, take aways and general crap that I do not want or need.

 x 1000!!! Oh my goodness, that is a lot of holidays and breaks. I don't think I've had that many holidays in my working life! Maybe not even in my whole life thinking about it!!!

    Evening peeps!

Today is not a SFD :( 2 in a row, think thats the first time all month so far I have not had an SFD for more than 1 day. It was necessary but frankly not everything I spent was necessary. One cost was £7.65 on 9 cartons of soya milk. Considering it's usually £1.30 a carton I think that is pretty good going. I have discovered my local Mr S do an own brand which is identical in ingredients, added vitamins and calcium etc to the branded one. None of the other supermarkets do anything that approaches the same so I am so pleased to have it in walking distance! Anyways, that will last for a few weeks between me and Jelly.

Went to Mr A's and spent another £27.40. Anyone else beginning to see where all my money goes? I committed the cardinal sin of going out hungry :( *smacks own hand*

Tomorrow is defo a SFD. I am going to drop jellytot off at nursery and then I am coming home to spend the rest of my day snuggled in bed with my laptop. Been a very busy day of feeding in laws and him but all quiet again now. Just me and the jelly, who refused to go to sleep until just half an hour ago. Went in to check on her and she was face down, bum up in the air with a rubber number 8 from her numbers mat wrapped around her ankle!

Check in tomorrow folks. Enjoy your evening!

    Evening all...

Great day here... Chipped into my money but just for a loaf of bread and some soya sauce (for all the rice I'm going to be eating over the next 11 days haha!!!)...

I actually got myself to the gym after work too so am well pleased... that's 3/12 sessions. Tomorrow will be a no go as it's a loooooooong day - but hopefully Thur and Friday... With pay day next week - this now feel totally do-able!!!

Hope your bike is better Kat. I'll send you an elastoplast in the post ;)

  • It makes me sound like a jet setter, I really am not, I would love to be though. Everything just came at once this year. Hen and big birthday weekends made up the majority of them, in fact only 1 was a holiday with the Husband (he is self employed so we tend to have a few weekends away instead of him having to take time off from work) I am loving this thread :)

Apologies for MIA - away for the weekend. Managed one SFD and an unplanned birthday present splurge on another day but as I am away for xmas it is joint for the two celebrations.

I haven't caught up on all the goings on but happy holidays to all those headed away and sorry to hear about your bike Kat :(
  • Another NSD yesterday for me - won't be today as I have already paid my electricity bill and car tax this morning (nothing like going wild on pay day, is there! :) ) and need to buy two small birthday presents and fill up my car. The good news is that I have everything budgeted for, the bad news is that July is such a spendy month I don't have much left to live on... but never mind! Looking forward to another chunk coming off my overdraft tomorrow at least.

    Morning all :D

Not a lot to report from yesterday. Another SFD achieved and got a good amount of walking in too. I'm aiming to increase the walking today although had such a bad night's sleep I would happily crawl back to bed right now. More coffee I think!

It's a glorious morning here and the forecast is good so I have a load of washing in the machine already and another one ready to go and be hung out before I go to work. Productivity, thy name is Mooo :D

spend day for me yesterday... but I can explain!!

I am doing a course for work and because you then have to teach others, they want us to practice something we know and teach it to the other students...
... I couldn't think of anything as I have no real hobbies or interests apart from music and campervanning so I ended up offering to teach people how to ice cakes instead.
hence the trip to morries to get some eggs and toppings for the cakes.

Whilst there, I got a few cracking yellow labels. 25p for 10 skinless sausages so I bought two packs. (4 in each freezer bag makes 5 meals). I also bought OH a whole seabass which was reduced down to 39p!!
Feeling pretty good just now although quite nervous about the whole teaching thing. I am not the worlds greatest cook.
    :/

I am so sorry to hear about your bike NSK. It always makes me wonder if the culprit would still run off if he hit a person or an animal. Hopefully you will be able to get some sort of compensation off him. What is your plan for getting extra travel money now?? If I remember rightly, you were selling it to a guy at the garage. Do you think he will still take it??

I think it depends on your terminology... when we are debt free, we plan on having lots of weekend breaks but our ones are around the uk in the campervan so although it sounds like that's a lot... with wild camping, you basically pay for fuel and then food and the fun stuff. I love our campervan.

    Morning Chicks.....

So.... I had a long old day yesterday at work, a gym session at 8pm and an eventual bed time of 11;30pm.... I will never learn. Up at 0500 for a spin to the train station - week three using the bicycle is going splendidly.

In keeping with the monetary / foody budget update I have barely spent any of mine with about £90 left...... I carry a 26L rucksack to work with my change of clothes, shoes, handbag and food for the day with absolutely no room for anything else hence NO FOOD SHOPPING IN MY LUNCH BREAK! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

This also means I have been living on scraps at home and making do with the odd run on the motorbike in the evening to Tesco's near home - but that's not ideal and then Mummy NSK has been worried about my level of working (Friday saw me hit my record of 25 days straight of work) so sent me a tenner to buy food for the day (last week) so I didn't have to stay up and create something for the following lunch. :p

I am however craving bread. Haven't had any for weeks and think I might get a loaf to have in the freezer although it's a little too easy to have toast for dinner sometimes.

The bike has been reported to the police and my insurance company who say there is no insurance for them showing on their system but they will do some digging. If they have no insurance I have to pay for the damage as my £400 excess and £250 forced excess from my insurance company will mean a claim wouldn't be worth it.

If there is no insurance I will be pressing charges since they left the scene and made no attempt to speak with me.

The scratches etc will take money of the sale price. I am not happy. I have yet to get it checked by the mechanic to make sure there is no internal damage. Abundant I shall accept your elastoplast only if there is Hello Kitty on it.

I HAVE THIS WEEKEND OFF! I cannot wait to not go into work. Lots of research to be completed as I am starting to realize there are things I need to buy sooner rather than later before I go.

Byebyedebthellolife - 13 holidays away already? I can see where that money is going. Rule number 1 when it comes to debt busting - look after you! Start refusing to attend these "do's" otherwise that debt will never go. Two more to go on - what are they and could you get out of them or do you know how miuch they might end up costing you.

100 items for eBay - good luck! I am about to start searching my bits and bobs for the same amount.

However - what is your DFD? (debt free day) - whats your goal?

Mothernerd - what a nightmare that everyone let you down. YOu are worthy to join us so don't you dare disappear!

Lilt that image of Jelly made me chuckle. Are you in-laws staying with you though? Sunday is going to be my bed and laptop day - cannot wait!!!

Mooomin - are you counting your steps / distance? Thank you for the offer of the pedometer by the way but some kind soul at work is going to locate one for me..

Fmess - so proud of you turning off that TV. I watched a bit of "Royal Marines Commando School" last night - very amusing!
I cringe to think how much money I've wasted in the past for this reason. Know what you've got and where it is is new motto!

    - the above post is the best thing I have read this morning. So important to rummage through cupboard now and then and really get to grips with what we already have and don't need to replace...

Exercise wise I am now addicted. The cycling in the morning is becoming easier and easier with my little legs raring to go and enabling me to continue revolutions with the pedals instead of attempting to glide a while before peddling again.

A friend is joining me on the 26 mile route but doesn't want to do the whole route and wants to stop for an ice cream along the way - I despair!:p

A colleague has just qualified as a personal trainer so I am going to talk to her about a programme - I could create one myself but the intensity and focus is best driven by someone else's expertise as they can navigate my requests into actions more effectively.

I daren't try on my jeans until the end of July which means I need to step things up a bit. Now long to go.

    More from NSK later tonight.....

    Onwards and Forever Upwards!!!

    Hi all

I missed another check in yesterday - oops. I had a wonder round Next to see what items I would like for my new job if I got a VIP invite to the sale but I didn't get one so that saves me spending any money.

I'm going to go for a run today and then tidy up the house and do some ironing (fun).
