Dolly84 Glad you liked it. I'm kind of addicted to it at the moment, it helps that I want to get through all the lentils, but I love the soup, would have it twice a day if I could. Just be careful with fridging it. I've found it only tends to last two days tops without being frozen, or eaten.

Been MIA for a while again. Having further issues with moving, but, trying to stay positive. Took advantage of two week days off and went down to see the OH. Had a lovely visit, as always. Need to tot up my SFD's, I don't think I've had that many this month yet. Yesterday and today were though, so that's at least two. Working on using up all my food too. Getting there with the freezer, apart form adding more soup to it, but that's only temporary.

Kat sorry to hear about the bike. Yay for the neighbour who got the details and for whoever it was being parked up nearby. Maybe they didn't know they'd done it? hope you get it sorted soon though and there isn't too much damage on your bike.

SFD today. BIL treated us to a Costa. Shouldn't have. Got creamy cooler thing that was half crushed ice and tasted like it. Checked later and that was 500 calories!!!

Anyway, shattered, not sure if I make the end of the game, will just gave to trust my Germany to win. Or might just have a wee nap now.

No big plans for tomorrow, just keep the kids happy and get through the day. But should defo be a SFD.

    Hellooooo everyone!

Kat, I am gutted about your bike. My ex's brand new corsa was written off by a drunk driver at 1am. Heard this almighty smash outside. He went running to the front upstairs window to look out. I thought he was still asleep as he kept saying. 'Where's my car?' - then we opened the window to look as it really had disappeared. It was 30 feet further up the road, 2 houses away from ours. And in pieces, rammed onto the kerb. I have no idea how the other guy managed to drive away but he had gone. None of our neighbours wanted to give statements even though a couple knew what car it had been. Didn't matter. The landlady of a pub 5 minutes drive away had reported him to the police for drunk driving, including his name, the license plate and make/model of the car. The police put the 2 together and drove to his house. The car was smashed up in the driveway; the patio doors had been broken, and the keys were on his bed. The guy was nowhere to be seen. The police towed the car, and the next day his dad reported that it had been stolen. :rotfl: - they arrived and arrested his son. He wasn't insured, and he had thought that leaving the car on the front, breaking the patio doors and disappearing would make his dad think that joyriders had stolen the car. !!!!!!, too drunk to figure out that stolen cars actually need to move off the driveway.
Rambling story aside, we never got any money back from it. Had to claim on the insurance :( Hope you get a better result!!

Not been a SFD today as I had to get bread, milk and cheese (cheese for dinner as we had deconstructed shepherds pie for the second day in a row!) - cheeky Mr T's offered the cheese as 2 340g packs for £4, then charged me £5. Needless to say I got my money back (only £1 :() - added the £6 to my sig. That's an unfriendly looking food budget for the rest of the month. Especially as my stash of 20 sausages is going on an unplanned dinnerparty with my in-laws tomorrow. You know the moment when you feel so awkward you just offer to cook? Yeah... :(

Tomorrow won't be an SFD either. I need red onion, gravy, potatoes, rice, jalapenos and few veggies. That should keep me going for the week in all honesty. Was not buying it in an overpriced Mr T Express though.

Have had a powercut here tonight. I'm trying to work out how much energy/money I saved with a 10 minute powercut. I think it may run into the pence... Lol.

Off to play with YNAB. Night folks xx

    Evening all

Sorry been MIA. Hectic day on Friday followed by volunteering weekend away.

1 SFD and 2 spend days (forgot I needed petrol to get there and back and gave in to an ice cream on sat, although resisted everything else and took pack up and refilled my water bottle throughout the day).

Got lots of food freebies leftover from the weekend, although mainly lunch and breakfast items so will need to buy dinner food on Tuesday.

No tv watched for 3 days. stewby you should try the reduced tv life, it's actually rather enjoyable. I would usually watch 3/4 hours a night whilst working but I'm rarely putting it on at the moment :)

Off to bed now as I'm knackered.

Sorry to hear about your bike NSK

Sorry to hear about all the big C news :( I'm a big advocate of getting checked regularly but just been allowed to go up to checks every 2 years which is nice but scary. Two years feels like a long time to not get checked out.

I love it when people ask for donations instead of presents thrifty, it's very selfless and charitable, I'd also give more for a charity donation wedding present than I would a normal present as it feels more worth it. Does that make sense?!

    Hi All,

Not a very good 3 days challenge wise. Spends every day but did have a lovely weekend. Step son came to visit which always means a few spends but as he only comes down every couple of months I really don't mind. He works 6 days a week so an hour and half journey to visit is a bit if a pain particularly as he is a fairly new driver.

I will total up my spends and update budgets on Monday. I know I'm over on food but we had 2 inpromptu BBQ's and do have some meat to go in the freezer.

Petrol budget is also over but it's a new car and we need to see how the fuel consumption works out. On the plus side OH has racked up fuel expenses for voluntary work of more than we have out in the car. He hates claiming but they insist and told him they will not call him out if he does not claim. It's quite a cash rich charity so I really don't have a problem with it as he is called out often and some journeys are over 60 miles round trip. So far in July he has been called out 13 times. Sorry I've gone completely off topic :D

Nearly half way through the month. I can't believe how quickly the months are passing.

Back tomorrow, hopefully with a SFD.

    Chez x

Yes, still here, reading along. Striving to become worthy to re-join you next month. Leg improving again - 'helped' mum do the cakes for the Church Summer Fair Friday before last. She has been promising it would be simple and we weren't doing much - she lied. I got to call a taxi home at 9.20pm after a day of disasters and disorganisation (sorry about the bike Kat), last year's helpers both bailed and the 14 yo replacement never turned up. Cue hellish week, several days when I could barely move and spent all week practicing arguments as to why it could never happen again. Thankfully mum agreed with most of what I said. Just need to get back on track with money, house repairs, serious house clean, healthy eating and exercise. (May have set myself a slightly ambitious 20 point plan for last week)

Keep plodding on and hugs to all who need them.

    Evening everybody...

Had a day at home today which has been lovely... also a SFD too! No gym session today but will try after work this week to save on petrol.

Found some loose change - barely £2 - but this month every little bit is going to help. 11 full days for me before I get paid and I now have £15.06 and £20 for fuel... Gonna give myself £1 a day and roll it over if I don't use it... Running my cupboards down and have rough meal plan to see me through... I'm quite enjoying this!!!

    Night all x

  • Lovely paying guests pulled me out of my glum mood tonight, sometimes strangers can do that more than friends! You fake being ok until you realise you actually are ok :) whereas your real friends worry with you about you not being ok, IYSWIM. Anyway, all good just in time for bed. Thanks for everything this weekend guys - the few forums I post on have really, really helped me get somethings done! Plus thanks all for the lentil-y conversations earlier in the week..I have 6 portions of courgette, tomato & lentil soup in le freezer now, and am looking forward to making some curry when I'm home again on Thursday :)

Also delighted to have discovered that having a tidier kitchen cupboard / under stairs 'black hole' means I've found out I don't need to buy some bits and pieces I thought I had to pick up soon, I've got loads...it was just too messy to know that I had them or be able to find out where they were when they were needed. I cringe to think how much money I've wasted in the past for this reason. Know what you've got and where it is is new motto!
