Calling14- So very sorry to hear of your news. xx
crazy_lady2009- that must have been awful for you to find out, but lucky it was caught in-time. I read recently that those getting smear tests in the UK within the last few years has significantly dropped. I agree, those 5 minutes of awkwardness are certainly worth it.:coffee:

Have had a fairly relaxing day off, walked a couple of miles into town to get some toiletries so *another* spend day.
So still firmly on 5 SFDs.
I'm off to visit old friends this weekend- will try and keep it as MSE as possible- i'm walking to the train station to save travel and parking so should be off to a good start with Money saving. I haven't seen them for a couple of years so we have lots to catch up on and I think one of the days will definitely be a day in!
Right the boyf is here, have a great weekend everyone! xx:coffee:

Calling so so sorry to hear your sad news. Hugs to you and your family, and I hope something good comes from something so awful and more women get tested regularly. My friend was diagnosed with breast cancer this March (she's my age 36) and it has made me very vigilant about checking for lumps. We have to look after ourselves, and our loved ones so we give ourselves the best chance we can from the horribleness of cancer and other illnesses.
I am pleased with a NSD today. And a swim on the way home. Resisted buying a Friday bottle of wine too, so that a fiver saved. We are also going to be honest at my nephew's 1st birthday tomorrow and tell my brother that we have not been able to afford a present this month as we have just bought the car. This is a BIG step for me, and I still feel bad about it, but he has everything he could ever need being a very spoilt little boy by his grandparents, and we are making an 8 hour round trip to be at his party, so I think it's ok... I think? is it ok??!
Dolly, I know what you mean and I only could do breaststroke. Before dad got ill I was planning on some crawl lessons, but then had no time, money or inclination to organise them (hence one of the reasons why the triathlon is not happening this year) But, I have since taught myself crawl and am getting slowly better and more confident at it. It's been a bit of a mental and physical challenge. I do hate the changing room thing, but my gym is quite good and clean and dry the floor a lot and I wear flip flops to the poolside. I love being in the water though and find it so relaxing. As long as it's quiet in the pool!
But, really need to focus on the duathlon as I don't want to let my dad's memory down and I want to raise lots of money for the charity.
Totals this week:
• 4/15 SFDs
• £84.16/£160 food
• 6/20 Exercise
I am away this weekend and not back till Tuesday night - seeing a friend Sunday - Tues, but hoping to spend no more than £20... will check in when back.

calling, so sorry to hear your news. My friends wife died of it aged 34, since then I get checked regularly and advice anyone who'd listen to do the same.
No SFD today as we got fresh fruit, milk and some other bits. Did my Jillian Michaels although had to fight with my DS over the dumbells. Had a great day with the kids but knackered, this maternity leave mallarky with two kids is tiring and boring at the same time. At least they had a great day. DS spend most of the day in the garden and the paddling pool again. Planning my hen do atm. The boys going away shooting or sth. I think I'll just have a whole day to myself and then a night in the pub. Two very special and rare things nowadays.
We decided not to have a wedding list. There are probably a few things we need but we can always get them ourselves. Instead we set up a collection for three charities that are important to us: cancer, alzheimers and cystic fibrosis.
Hope you all have a relaxing Friday night, off to bedDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Sorry to hear your news Calling..
Well done Dolly
SFD for me. Happy weekends all.0 -
I am so sorry to hear your news calling. You have had the most awful year if I remember rightly. I hope the second half of 2014 goes better for you. Loads of hugs to you and your family.
I am sure your brother won't mind that you haven't bought your nephew a present giving the circumstances. Without sounding rude, he's going to be one year old, it's not like he is going to realise he is missing a present and remember it forever.
Hugs.
Today has been a spend day... I bought some seed potatoes which means we should have our own crop of potatoes in time for xmas (according to the packaging).
However... I will class it as an illegal spend but because I had £30 returned to me out of the savings pots (gave mum £50 to add to the hidden collection).
The food budget remains untouched.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Thrifty - what a lovely thing to do for the charities.
Tiptoes - It is absolutely fine to say you have no money for a present, all too often people feel obliged to spend money they just don't have, family that truly care will completely understand.
shyspender - I made your soup yesterday, I popped it in the slow cooker for ease, I too was generous with the thai paste as we like heat in our food and by gum we got heat, I have put some in the freezer and some in the fridge for today. It tastes lovely, thank you for posting the recipe.
It was baking hot here yesterday, 28 degrees in the afternoon, and despite being full of cold and feeling very off colour I helped set up the school fair as I had promised I would. Well I won't be helping next year, the lady that normally organises everything has a full time job now so another mum did it, she is on the PTA and is a right stuck up pain in the bum, nothing I did was right so I had words with a few of them (I always speak my mind) then sulked on the field. Anyway I gave the kids £2.50 each and they had a good time.
DS went for a sleepover last night so peace reigned in the Dolly residence, me and DH took DD for a bike ride, we called at the shop and bought popcorn and sweets and came home to watch Jurassic Park, it is the first time she has seen it, she got through the iconic T Rex scene then took herself off to bed, I think it was too scary for her.
I have already forewarned the family that I want a spend free weekend, today we will be outside in the glorious weather, doing jobs at home and going out on the bikes. Tomorrow DS has a football tournament and DD will be riding. We do not need to buy anything that I know of so hopefully we will manage it.
