    Check in daily: 11/31
    SFDs: 4/15
    Food budget: £48.90/£130
    Outings: 2/5
    Exercise: 6/16

No SFD yesterday as I went out for lunch with some colleagues. We had a lovely time though and I kept the spending to a minimum. That's 2 of my 5 outings for the month now :D

Issue is now resolved and it's a positive outcome (for me anyways).

    * OH will be putting his £61 for the xmas pot (it's a £1-a-day challenge but we owe for june and july) in next week.

    * The £80 a month for the holiday pot will be starting up in September but we will review it in August in case he can manage to start it sooner.

    And the big one...
    * Due to issues last night, instead of me supplying the whole monthly food budget... we are now going to pay £60 each for the month.
That gives us £30 a week for food and drink which should be more than enough.

    * Hopefully, OH will agree that any leftover shopping budget will go into one of the pots. Fingers crossed.
    :o

So... at least something good has come out of something so rotten as last night. Maybe it will teach him to realise how good he has it and to think before he speaks... but I won't hold my breath on that one.
    :rotfl:

Will be a spend day today as we are going to the garden centre to buy some seed potatoes. Yep, we are going to grow some tatties in our wee garden.
OH has already set up a pot with some basil, coriander, mint and rosemary in it.
We are slowly working on ways to reduce our outgoings... one baby step at a time.
    :D

    Hugs to everyone.

Stewby Good to hear you resolved some issues and youre feeling happier now :D

Not sure why I am awake so early, didnt go to sleep until 2 after finishing my late shift at a reasonable time! I will try and get some more zeds in before this afternoons late shift. Today will be another spend day as Waitro$e have an offer on bertolli butter where you can buy 2 for the price of 1 which will cost me £1.90 for 1kg :T Wish I had looked yesterday while picking up a latte to preserve todays spend day but assumed that the better deals would be in Te$c or A$da!

I have been looking at my figures this morning and I havent done too badly this month. I have only spent £12 (£14 after today!) on food and have not purchased any fuel at all as I still have 30 litres in my tank. The e-bike is helping me save on fuel and wear and tear on the car which is a huge bonus :T.

Its the miscellaneous spends that have been higher than I had planned. £19 ebay fees were unexpectedly deducted when I thought this had already been done at auction, am new to this malarkey! Hand towels, which I was in need of as I only have one! Ebay postage was essential, spend money to make money! :D and also organic eyeliner and mascara which was a little pricey but I think quite important :o I have used kohl eyeliner on a daily basis for 20 years and that lead and chemical absorption can't be good :(.. My eye problem was simply a dry eye from cycling which soon resolved but it got me thinking about the impact of eye make up on health.

Another unexpected spend this month will be on the house as a close friend of the family has generously offered to do some repairs and renovations for free in order to help out! I am so grateful of his help because I have had quotes from several builders who in my view have over priced jobs or made out its a bigger job than it is :( I will need to put money aside for materials as well as the extra cash he will HAVE to accept :p..

Its a wet one out there today so I think I will make a brew and cosy up in my pit for a while :p

Hope you have a good day folks!

liltdiddylilt - stick with the coffee, punching colleagues doesn't normally go down well. A guy at DH's work once hit someone over the head with a chair - sacked same day - much excitement for everyone else that day though.

crazy_lady - you are very inventive with your spending/saving money and I'm sure you will reach your goals.

stewby - hope you are better today.

Tiptoes - My DH wants to do a Triathlon but I'm rubbish at swimming, I've never had any proper lessons so technique is rubbish and I can only do breaststroke. Plus I hate chlorine pools and pool changing rooms as I have a terrible phobia of putting my wet/damp/bare feet on wet, grotty floors so I never go swimming.

Spent a big chunk of the day waiting for Tesco to deliver my grocery order yesterday, should have been 1-2pm but ended up being 1-3pm and arrived at 2.50pm. Went out after and got DD a pretty summer skirt and a denim jacket for me in a CS.

Today will be a spend day as it is the school fair, the kids have £2.50 each and when it's gone that's it.

Dolly You could always do duathlons if youre not a fan of swimming? I have similar water issues despite being a water sign :p I like my feet firmly on the floor and don't like my head underneath water, although I doggy paddle in saline pools quite well ;) At least you can enjoy the fun of duathlons by running and riding..

Spend achieved already on bertolli butter! Was tempted to buy enough to fill the fridge while its on offer but I only walked away with two :D

Afternoon everyone. Sneaking on at work. Have thus far drunk 4 cups of coffee and still not hit anyone :D:D:D at least it isn't just me who realises that colleague is a patronising bleep!

Today shall be an NSD. I am very proud of myself as it rained yesterday evening very hard, and I still walked home! I also walked to work in a downpour this morning and it is set to continue for my walk home. I would usually have gotten a taxi at least once at a £5 cost per ride!

Dolly, have you been losing more weight?! I see on your sig! I am trying very hard not to punch anyone. Sometimes I think I ought to just find a new job!

Will pop in to confirm later!! Run off my feet yet again at work :(

Apologies my head has been all over the place this week, my sister in law passed away after only being diagnosed with cervical cancer in Feb, message is if you haven't had a regular smear test done - GET ONE DONE. Having had a really bad start to the year, I have struggled to cope with all the grief. Funeral Monday, driving there and back in the day so 6 hrs driving but daughters offered to take over if I get tired. Unfortunately can't go down night before.

Hoping to get back to normal and my spreadsheets Tuesday. Apologies for not checking in will update my figure then, but Petrol will be over budget.

Hugs to everyone who needs one, at this moment wishing I was off Kats journey so much.

  • Calling, I am so sorry to hear your news and wish you all a lot of strength for these next few very difficult days. I echo your voice about getting tested...I was diagnosed with the same in January this year, luckily it was caught quite early and treatable...but there were no symptoms at all to alert me, so its only the smear that could have shown it.

If people haven't been for a while, please don't be scared. There are all sorts of things that have made the process much smoother than you might remember. Its still a awkward 5 minutes, but believe me, worth it. Maybe next month we could have a line in the challenge about being brave and doing something we have been putting off but know we should :) For me it'd be the dentist.

Liltdiddy, well done on walking in the rain, its baking hot sunshine here ;). Been invited to a new friends kids school fete tonight. Half thought I wouldnt go, but then thought its a chance to meet some more local people. We did go last year (just after we moved here) and it was very cheaply priced :) so I thought I'd go (so that I see another human tonight!) and just take £2 and pick up some cakes for the weekend.
Stewby - glad some good things have come from your tough evening. Dolly - thank you :) Phoenix - exciting to get your renovations underway! I have architect coming on Saturday to talk about the planning drawings for ours next year.
