What are they like in reality!?
They are beautiful. Heavy, they don't swing about. Lots and lots of lead on them so you can hang to the right height for the room. And just like genuine hats - felt on the outside and a metal (gold or silver, depending on the hat) lining inside. I have Jeeves (bowler hat) and Wooster (the top hat) side by side. I adore, adore them. They get comments from anyone that comes in.
I'm disappointed that I take so many things that I fell in love with for granted sometimes.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I need to replace the ceiling light in MIL's bungalow. Just bought one of these:
I wanted a bit of bling, and that's about as much bling as you can get for £45.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Nah. This house is pretty rubbish, to be honest. The house itself is uninteresting and the interior was done on a really small budget at a time when I was in a deep depression. I had to lose most of the furniture from previous houses as it was all too big for this house so it's mainly Ikea.
The nice thing about Ikea is that people recognise things from their own homes and it brings a sense of familiarity and fit. I'm sure many house are sold on the basis that some recognises their Expedit bookcase or a Malm chest of drawers.
I'm happy to PM a link but it's the only house on Tepilo in the town and I'm not sure there are that many in the whole county!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Anyone know about LEDs? I have 19 (!) light bulbs ( mr16 ) on one switch in my kitchen. So 35w x 19 = 665w with the lights on (less the ones that have blown). They are not very good. I'm wondering if it is worth the investment in replacing them with LEDs. LEDs are 4w each so only 76W for the lot.
So I'm saving 600w in total at an outlay of a £5 each, say £100. Electricity is about 13p per Kwh, so 6 hours a day is £1.30 saving - 80 days and I'm then in profit.
Question is can I change them all out with no need to do anything else and can I mix and match while I decide if they produce decent light?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I found it on rightmove without knowing what bit of the country you are in, so it can't be difficult.
I recognise the sliding door wardrobe in the bedroom from IKEA. I see your clothes are visible through the glass too. It annoys me and makes me wish I had bought the mirror doors that were out of stock that day.
If you have a picture instead of a headboard, can you sit up in bed?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Bottom line is - you can't beat a good old fashioned, 1960s, proper 100watt bulb, slap bang in the middle of the ceiling0 -
The thing with what people've got is that a lot of time it's not about "style" .... it's about what was available, what they saw/found, that was in their budget and did the job in the few weeks/months they were looking for such an item and felt willing/able to have that one and get it home.
If that makes sense.
One day I'll have a (bed) bedside cabinet .... it'll be the nicest one that caught my eye, at a price I felt was OK for a bedside cabinet .... that's available when I decide I should get one. It won't be stylish, or wow; it might not even "match" ... but it'll do the job as best as can be expected for the time slot I was looking for one.0
