Unfortunately you have a thread full of chums all willing to be your conscience.

I have a conscience (honest). I'm just used to it with this particular task and can disobey it. That conflict then makes me feel worse and makes me less likely to start working, and more likely to start eating.

This is a very bad relationship. At least I know it's almost over (time wise if not effort wise).

Today I hate it. Lol. Feels far too middle England and nice and try hard. But GDb, hopefully this shows you the state of the garden furniture better, today its my favourite thing.

FWIW I think it looks lovely.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Thanks :)

I'm sure I 'll be happy again when its messier. I just think it looks too contrived, which, obviously it is, and the slowness of my work annoyed me. I couldn't dig up pelargoniums today, such easy work. I feel ok, so I cannot imagine how I cannot do it, so the Idea of knocking the neat edges of this seems impossible ATM.

Edit, and my woodwork looks absurdly clean in that shot, properly white, that doestn't help.

    No kids required,

Mas, feel welcome to visit the wreck some weekends......this morning we are wood staining, but you could have walked the dogs, or moved some plants, cut some grass, or some hedges, or had a bonfire, or done some sweeping, gutter clearing, ditch clearing, transplanted some bulrushes, potted on some mint ready to sink into the beds we're painting, weeding, rehung a gate or two, repair a ruddy fence a rascal keeps knocking down and is patched with electric ATM, moved the electric, glazed the new door window, ( we haven't bought the glass yet though so that would be a problem, fir was suggesting doing a temp job with some acrylic we have) put a hook on the bottom part of that door put a shelf up in the utility room, clean the chooks out clear out the veg bed, .....................

Get the idea?:D. Honestly, any weekend you're bored.......:rotfl:

When the leaves are all down and it gets colder jobs become more chainsaw- y and flame thrower ish.

Blimey, I'm exhausted just reading that list!

Flamethrowers ... I once saw someone trying to take a shortcut on the weeding front on their allotment, with a flame gun. Unfortunately, their aim was as poor as their willingness to dig, with the result that the lavender bush was slightly more fried by the end of the session than it was at the beginning! :rotfl:

Mine too. I've got some that I'm trying to eke out though.
I like wearing perfume, but I usually forget on a day-to-day basis. On a day-to-day basis, I'm doing well if I remember to brush my hair before leaving the house!

Me too. I have some ancient Sanctuary body spray that I might remember to use on a special day (but it's cold when you apply it so there's a disincentive there :o )

I've got 2 weeks until my next study workshop, and had previously looked at the overview of what self-study tasks needed to be completed before then. It all looked manageable, until I looked at the detail of the tasks on the course website.

Task 1 was originally read Chapter x of Book A. Online version = Chapter x of Book A, plus 3 chapters of Book B, plus the online resources from the website for this topic.

Time estimate was 1 hour for Chapter x of Book A. As I make notes and actually do the exercises in the book, that would take me probably 4 hours anyway, but with the extra stuff I'm slightly worried now :eek:

I've been gritting my teeth as best I can. Have reanalysed an experiment (or part of it anyway). I'm not enjoying it (and I've had to try and remember how to work the software which is really annoying as I used to be able to navigate it with my eyes closed).

    But at least I'm trying.

    Well done! Go Nikkster! :j:j:j

    So do I!

    Advice please people.

Recently I have been vaguely aware that my bath wasn't draining quite as fast as usual, but not really thinking about it. I know, I know, I should have taken more notice of it while it was still a minor problem. :o

Today I have cleaned out the hamster cage. It's one of those plastic cages with lots of tubes. I took the whole thing to bits and took the bits to the bath where I used the shower head to give them a good squirting.

The pieces of cage are now sparkling clean. :)
The bath is now barely draining at all. :(

What do I do now, please?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I think you'll need something like a caustic alkali metal hydroxide mixture that will break down keratin (sodium and aluminium hydroxide sIIRC).

Mr Muscle have something that costs a tenner that'll do that. Some websites recommend using baking soda and then vinegar (half a cup each with a good gap between) then leave for three hours. Cheaper than the professional ones, if it works.

  • That Mr Muscle stuff works wonders - gets rid of all the hair, soap scum and other nice things lurking in plugs. And it's very easy to use - squirt down the plug, leave, then rinse a couple of hours later.

    Thanks both of you.

Mr Muscle is not available at this time on a Sunday evening. :(
Have put down lots of bicarb with some nearly boiling water. It went down and some bubbles came up, so that seems promising. Will put down some white vinegar in a while and see what happens. If it works it works, and if it doesn't I'll get some Mr Muscle tomorrow.

Using the flame thrower is awful. I hate it. We use it to clear quite large areas sometimes ( like the banks of the cake . And it often is quite exciting but scary too.

That's not even scratching the surface of the todo list. There will always be more than we possible can do. Its good not to be bored, but its often overwhelming.

I have a similar problem with a toilet.

I tried soda crystals - now I have solidified soda crystals in the pan.

I tried warm water- I think that has got rid of the soda crystals.

Then I tried some soda crystals and added vinegar. According to the youtube/ ehow videos frothing is meant to occur but it didn't. Also you are meant to be able to use any vinegar, so I used value malt vinegar, it being the cheapest I can find. That turned everything brown, so I'm not sure if that is the vinegar or something else. :(
