Wonders of wonders, I have found a doctor at my surgery who actually understands and knows about EDS/hypermobility and the ramifications of it (new doctor at the practice)
He referred me to an OT today and changed my pain medication to something more suitable.
Excellent news :j... our favourite choice local school offered to let him retake his failed English and Maths GCSEs and start some level 3 BTEC courses which was very positive but made me nervous about what he could do next year.
The good news about the GCSE upgrade arrived the day he went in to get his timetable and meant he now has progressed to a full time level 3 course plus a retake in the missing English GCSE. He's now got a programme that will see him through the next two years.
The school arranged for him to be met and show around by ASD students, and the whole place is arranged out so it's absurdly user-friendly. He's (touch wood) finding no problems fitting in and long may that continue.
Also excellent news. :jDoozergirl wrote: »I missed your post in the buzz last night, lir, was wondering how it went. I'm sorry it was traumatising. I'm glad fc asked what bits. Sometimes you're a little vague and I've always thought it was by design, but if it ever helps to share and delete
Fc, I'm sorry about puss. I was traumatised when my first puss went. And neighbour. You're very sweet to help with the garden. It will help.
I'm glad to hear of some improvement from spirit. This is wonderful news as quick improvement should mean a better rehabilitation. It must be hard to see the bright side but this is a warning sent from heaven and an opportunity to redress life balance and the non part-time, part-time working.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

It is lovely though isn't it. I keep rushing over there to sit on it and smile
I've also taken the garden lounger cushion off and vacuum packed that away for the winter and put it in the shed ... and folded up the frame and put that in the shed. Just like normal, organised, people would do
.
I like it a lot! Yours will stay nice as well, you won't have to put covers over it and shift dogs every time you want to use it;)Doozergirl wrote: »What you said. But it's not really brown to me. It's just like wet Blackpool sand (like you said) A lot like the colour of the plush sofa that LIR posted. Lovely beachy colour, IMO.

Went ok. Cried like usual so calm didn't last.
More tests, more discussion about how I'm a freak, but this time he is quite positive about it. He's on the side of having a bash at cutting bits of me about and seeing what happens if I'm game for it.
Ah but you were calm for a while, that's good. And a freak, far better than being dull.0 -

Thanks...and at the moment, he is loving it.
Apparently the support staff are 'brilliant', the building is amazing and everything is right with the geek world at the moment.
He is finding it very tiring and overwhelming though and he is withdrawing a little socially out of college...he is coming home and then hiding in his man/geek cave and not wanting to go out anywhere else but I expected that and the transition has gone better than I expected.
He got very confuzzled yesterday...he was sitting in a study area doing some studying and all of a sudden some of the others from his class descended on him and wanted to talk to him, he didn't know what to do or how to react but he soon got over the shock of people wanting to talk to him/people dealing with him on a level and I think he secretly quite enjoyed it.
All those words when I could have just said....he is loving it and left it at that! :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I have one child diagnosed on the ASD spectrum...
ASD family members seem to be another "NP thing" along with Jewish family members etc. A lot of us seem to have dyslexic kids too.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Lovely news - and it's the detail that makes it interesting rather than just "Oh good that's OK then", so thanks for that.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Single Sue, I'm really pleased to hear that he is settling so well - what a relief for you.We had noticed his weight loss and also their garden was getting more and more overgrown (not that that bothers us but it was a sign that he was unwell as the garden is 'his' job)...so OH and myself will spend a day in it whilst they are away.
She also doesn't want us to move and got upset about that as well...
That will give him a huge lift when he gets back, seeing the garden looking tidier and more importantly that someone has taken the time to do it.
At 50, I have never lived in a house that I really like, never chosen my own home yet. Anyway, I was dithering about getting a BTL, have decided not to, put some energy into making the current house nicer and then hopefully shift up the road to Weston, literally a mile up the road, but a nicer area and full of older character houses.
At 14, I'd not put fc cat through a load of operation stress if it won't achieve a long term result - it's often more trauma than they should have to suffer.neverdespairgirl wrote: »Heard from Spirit by text - she's feeling upset and low, but has some slight movement in her left hand. I sent her all the NP love from us all.
Have they said when she can come out of hospital yet? Just getting home must help her feel a little bit happier.
It's just an expensive luxury at the moment. Would cost hundreds to fix, or get to a point where I could sell it for a few hundred. Tax is due next month. So it's just not worth it sadly. It's a massive shame because I really love that car.
I try to be zen about possessions and mostly not that fussed, they are transient objects that's all.
I really miss the VX220 and the F88 though - so the zen thing needs a bit more work.:o0 -
It's The Girl's birthday. She was very pleased with her presents this morning: the fit watch I got here had plenty of use before school. She was doing penguin waddles last time I saw her.
The Lego set from Old Ma Generali is blimmin' amazing. It's the Arctic explorers kit. Zounds.0
