Wonders of wonders, I have found a doctor at my surgery who actually understands and knows about EDS/hypermobility and the ramifications of it (new doctor at the practice)

He referred me to an OT today and changed my pain medication to something more suitable.

That's what we need to hear!!
How did he find his new place of learning? ISTR you had some minor anxieties about how he might adjust to it?

Well we had the choice of two state school sixth forms and a local FE college. The schools looked good and were geared up to deal with the dyslexia/ ASD issues but he didn't get enough grades to get onto a full A level/BTEC level three course. He could have retaken a year by going on a level 2 course at the local college and we were getting geared up for that, but our favourite choice local school offered to let him retake his failed English and Maths GCSEs and start some level 3 BTEC courses which was very positive but made me nervous about what he could do next year.

The good news about the GCSE upgrade arrived the day he went in to get his timetable and meant he now has progressed to a full time level 3 course plus a retake in the missing English GCSE. He's now got a programme that will see him through the next two years.

The school arranged for him to be met and show around by ASD students, and the whole place is arranged out so it's absurdly user-friendly. He's (touch wood) finding no problems fitting in and long may that continue. :)

  • Fantastic, and all the best to DS (and Sue's youngest, of course, starting the same type of course).

I missed your post in the buzz last night, lir, was wondering how it went. I'm sorry it was traumatising. I'm glad fc asked what bits. Sometimes you're a little vague and I've always thought it was by design, but if it ever helps to share and delete :o

Fc, I'm sorry about puss. I was traumatised when my first puss went. And neighbour. You're very sweet to help with the garden. It will help.

I'm glad to hear of some improvement from spirit. This is wonderful news as quick improvement should mean a better rehabilitation. It must be hard to see the bright side but this is a warning sent from heaven and an opportunity to redress life balance and the non part-time, part-time working.

I had to let Twozerdog out for a wee, just. The moon is so bright, it's lighting outside and casting clear shadows. Beautiful.

I am okay, thanks for asking.

    Sounds good :)

We've had such a lovely summer (it's made a resurgance over the last week). I will really miss it when it's gone. Time to plan a sunshine trip for winter, I think.

When are you coming for the joy of 6 hour days and the UK winter?

Leave here 18th Dec, come back mid-Jan. It's going to be an absolute scorcher this summer apparently. We're looking at the possibility of moving to the area directly South of Sydney known as the Illawarra. That would be great in s hot summer, living by the beach. I could have a dip in the ocean before work some mornings.

That really sounds wonderful. I have one child diagnosed on the ASD spectrum, and he never managed to fit in at the local schools.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Pretty much design. Lots to bits, including bits that were scanned as healthy because he feels function isn't healthy even if they look ok.

Not traumatising as such, mre that I just seem to melt down now.
