If you change a post, you lose all the Thanks. So after I deleted the thanks you gave it would be removed and it would appear on your not thanked list. Key words:

The way I deal with left over mash is to eat whatever was put on my plate then go into the kitchen and eat whatever was left over in the saucepan. No need to reheat, so saves money!

Greedy! You'd probably not find any in my kitchen.... 'leftovers' are boxed up immediately, prior to eating..... I tend to make two portions at a time, so having mashed them, half's going on my plate and half into a box. So the box will already be out and on the top, ready, before I've even mashed them.

The weather is vile. Someone has died in the local high street, I suspect the weather has a part to play as the bend there, although a large one, is almost always slow and relatively inoccuous. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. :(

Not wearing a seatbelt is a Darwin Award-winning thing (not) to do. It's a bit harsh and judgemental, but seatbelts are not that hard to put on, are they?

My bit of housework started with 30 minutes changing the drive belt on the vacuum cleaner AND ordering a replacement belt to keep in stock. That's about the most efficient I've ever been in my entire life.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I nearly bought a cassette player recently. It was part of a mini hi-fi in clas ohlsen & you could make digital versions of your old tapes.

It's really odd how the mp3 revolution made cassettes redundant. they were looked down on compared with disc-based platforms but the DIY aspect of building up music libraries was liberating. I've heard they're still in use in prisons as CD's can be broken to make knives, but I bet they're still used in the developing world.

I thought at the beginning of post it might have been that they had not turned SAD lamp on not expecting such a late September day in August.

I woke up and it was raining, so spent most of the day on the (free weekend) ancestry site, downloading a bunch of census' .... although, realistically, I'll probably never get round to them... but they're there. Just a couple of hamlets where rellies lived.... e.g. found them on page 10/15 so decided to download all 15 pages, marking page 10 filename with their name. But I do like to look at who else was around, neighbours, etc, to build a bigger picture and spot a "reason". e.g. "X marries Y - how come? Oh look, they used to live next door so that's how they might have met" type of thing.

It's very slow going though - and I have to keep clearing out the PC and rebooting.

Anyway .... didn't progress much with the tree, but it was interesting seeing what's available the other side of the ancestry paywall, although it's a nuisance of a system... and, apart from census returns, there ain't a great deal of any use. e.g. you can't see scans of original parish records... or any more detail on births etc since 1837 .... so, OK for the census, but beyond that limiting.

Today I've eaten two pieces of toast, then a chicken jalapeno sandwich filler sandwich .... and I can't think what to have for tea. I'll probably do a cheese/tomato toastie.

Some of the last of ours became plum Charlotte.

Tree in the corner doesn't seem to be a damson :(. Just a different sort of bullace - y thing that carries fruit differently and ripens later. I mean, still a dear thing and all. Glad we have it. Glad we finally reached it too!

    We'll plant a damson I guess. :)

I had a cheese/tomato toastie for tea... courtesy of the toaster and the microwave oven :)
Tiny cherry tomatoes, so it takes about 10 toasties to get through a 250gram pack ... and 10 toasties to get through a loaf .... and 10 toasties to get through 200g of cheese. Got a lot of cheese/tomato toasties to eat in the next 2-3 days.

Do bread and tomatoes keep about a week? Couldn't you spread it out a bit?
