Today I have watched TV with OH (I am still up to having only switched the TV on once this year- in May).

Carry on up the Khyber which was very funny, but I did wonder if such a film could be made in these culturally sensitive times as most of the humour arises from poking fun at linguistic differences.

The next was snippets of Rio. I have never seen this before, it was a children's cartoon and I saw about a third of it and asked OH to tall me how it ended.

Then finally Al Murray's war films..which looks fab...but I want to know the location they made it in..a beautiful private cinema..I would go if I could.

OH has said my TV worries have stabilised...they became bad a few years ago and have not changed. I feel I am missing out, but I cannot face the anxiety.

Dunno if it is a midlands thing, but some people fry cold mash to re-heat it.

We used to do that when I was little. Fried mash is lovely. :D

The weather is vile. Someone has died in the local high street, I suspect the weather has a part to play as the bend there, although a large one, is almost always slow and relatively inoccuous. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. :(

    :(

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I nearly bought a cassette player recently. It was part of a mini hi-fi in clas ohlsen & you could make digital versions of your old tapes.

DD1 arranged for me to be given a cassette player of the kind that you transfer tapes with. It's to transfer the tapes my Mum made about her life in Dolgellau (or Dolgelley as she mostly referred to it as). But DD1 said I have to test it with A N other tape before trying. It's still sat on top of my printer waiting for me to find another tape and try. I think I have one full tape, and one that only is taped on one side. Then there's the others that she might have tried to make, labelled with "play this side" that so far as I can make out are completely blank. :( I suspect she didn't realise you had to press "record" and "play" at the same time to record. :( But she was prob well into the dementia by then, though managed to keep it covered up till Dad went into nursing home... It all got worse and worse and nightmarish after that. It's all nearly 7 years ago now, but it still feels like yesterday sometimes. Ghastly time, and it was my poor OH who had to deal with most of the awfulness as I wasn't then (as now) fit enough to be much use. Though I've always been useful for finding info on the net to help with such stuff... Now I'm doing that for my much loved Mum-in-Law. :(

I'm about to google making blackberry jam.

Just spoken with my mate who is in Porth. He says it's been constant all day!

Blackberries - make jelly not jam! They're very pippy, not much fun in jam even if you have your own teeth (pips get trapped between teeth), if you have any kind of denture a complete nightmare! Ouch!

After the torrential rain we had a clearance and OH went for a walk. Still not raining again since then here. Every break in the rain the kids in the field have been out riding their bikes! :)

This week isn't the best for my folks, as it is dads results wednesday.

Fried cold mash with bacon and mushrooms and/or tomatoes is a lovely breakfast. Yum! :)

Hope your Dad has the best results possible. Will send you some Vibes on Wednesday. In fact sending some now too, as it's horrid waiting for stuff, so you need them now too. Hugs from Bwlchtocyn! :)

Not wearing a seatbelt is a Darwin Award-winning thing (not) to do. It's a bit harsh and judgemental, but seatbelts are not that hard to put on, are they?

    .

    I agree.

However, the more forgiving side of me feels they were not designed by people with breasts, claustrophobic people and other sorts of things. Dog dog survived the crash she and fir were in because she was NOT in a crate or belted. ( little one usually but not always wears a belt, dog dog often wears a belt, big dog does not). Main reason kiwi wears a belt is not for his survival but so that he doesn't go through windscreen. Death contained in the vehicle.

What a bleurgh day. Still, got a lot done around the house and applied for a job, so happy with progress. Not very restful though. Varnishing the external door is going to have to wait for weather much nicer than this.

I thought at the beginning of post it might have been that they had not turned SAD lamp on not expecting such a late September day in August.

Guh. Maybe I should get mine out. :(

SW was extremely cold last 2 nights (as low as 6.5) but going forward nights will be about 14 and days 18 so much more normal temps for the region - still need a sweater though, and definitely a rain coat.

Given the weather having no car is even worse as no chance to go and mooch around the shops or anything, DS also pretty unwell with cold and temperature and wheezing, the cold and damp weather doesn't help. Tomorrow need to try and get it fixed asap, need confirmed diagnosis first to order parts which will hopefully come on Wednesday, if we are lucky it will be fixed in time for our journey home on Friday. I am spending a lot of time telling myself that it would have broken anyway and that we have not spent as much as a cheap week in he Med on sitting in the cold and wet in Devon.
    I think....

Apropos of nothing, which is the best current account anyone here uses? My Santander account used to have free travel insurance, and cheap overdraft fees (when it used to be A&L). Has anyone opened a Halifax account and what are they like? I've got a dormant Flexaccount I may want to revive (has free travel insurance), or is the Metro bank or Coop any use? Occasionally overdraw and don' t expect much interest.
