Had a few mizzley showers earlier, but The Real Welsh Rain has just started! The birds have cleared out the 2 sunflower heart feeders, but there's no way we're going to go out in this to refill them!
At least there's a few peanuts left for the blue tits.

I agree that left over mash is an odd concept, but I'm puzzled how you would reheat it in a saucepan without it burning.
The two most difficult things for any dishwasher to cope with seem to be mashed potato and scrambled egg.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. This was pretty much the only house rule I provided: 'this is MY mug'. I was asked whether this meant never using it, so I clarified that was fine, so long as it wasn't in use when I'm around. I'll happily reuse all day for the same drink though. And no dishwasher option.0 -

If I were reheating in a pan it would often be to turn into something.
But if I did want to reheat in a saucepan as mash I'd add a little milk and stir often over a low heat I guess.I'd probably opt for a largish saucepan or frying pan to the ratio of mash, and finish with more butter.
Lots can be done stove top. Just like cheese on toast is ok , I quite like it, and toasties leave me cold, but Mozzerella in carrozza or stove top croque Monsieur as well as being much less healthyseems tastier to me.

Probably don't exist any more, like cassette players or black and white tellies. Actually portable tellies were rare as hens teeth among students in the 70s. The Halls had a TV room and you all had to go en masse to see TOTP or Dr Who or the like. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I have been scrubbing for much of the weekend. A house appears to emerging from under the thick layer of dirt that seems to cover everything. It's going to take a lot more elbow grease this week but I'm feeling more positive. The garden looked nice yesterday - the new wall colour is acceptable. It looked like F&B Blue Green.
On a related theme, have spent much of the weekend thinking about changes at new jelly. Doozerboy suggested one idea (which personally I don't think is viable). The other way has 2 variables, but I don't know if the new idea I've had is structurally sound/viable.
I've also been pondering adding another window in one of the bedrooms.
Re your house, I know you don't like it, & DB explained the reason/plan. That said, it looks quite grand from the front, & also I believe could have a fantastic view following some tree pruning. I doubt you'll have trouble selling, it is a very functionable and decent sized family home, with good transport links etc. It isn't small. I am happy to hear you're feeling more optimistic!lostinrates wrote: »I think my jam over set. I'm about to google making blackberry jam.ukmaggie45 wrote: »Had a few mizzley showers earlier, but The Real Welsh Rain has just started! I just used my dog groomers fancy online system ( only fancy thing about them) to book the fluffy dogs in the week the nice women visit. This is prompted by Kiwi coming in stinking of wet dog and grinning at the joy of this great perfume. Boy dogs really do honk. Small ones worse I think.0

Cleared the garage yesterday & brought the car in (to avoid the bad weather). Have vacuumed that. (Priorities!)
Have listened to some music too. Had a couple of records out.

Just read a recipe for black berry and Pinot noir jam.
Not my sort of thing but I know people who would love it and it would make super Christmas gifts.
Under set: too runny
Overset: too hard.
Overset is hard to spread and not very unctuous, underset has a life of its own and can be too thin.
My ideal is a very, very slight underset, wher the jam neither holds its shape when spooned, but sort of sighs gently and flops off the edge of it, Not thin like a syrup, ( that's failure) not completely set though, or even the money before, but the moment before that. Its hard to catch it.
I might have done with second batch, Not sure yet. There was not a drop left over to taste or test , and I don't mess with jars, so I'll just cross my fingers. First batch definitely set at least.
The big batches its harder to get set point exactly because .....there is a lot of volume and a lot of heat in that volume.0
