You're probably curious already so I'll get straight on with it...

    Who's MSE Badger?

MSE Badger's a funny, furry creature. He wanders the forums looking for good deeds and fabulous MoneySaving to reward people for.
    Nice one!

I can't see a badge, where would it be?

I think it depends what kind of screen layout you have whether you can see them or not. The way I have MSE set out, the info about each poster is on the left of their post, and the badge goes between the post count and the thanks count. Some people have more than one. I'm happy with my "mortgage free glee" one. lir has one for being mentioned in the weekly email, and viva has one for reclaiming PPI.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Could have been mortgage free on paper, but then decided to buy the holiday place, so now we are not.

As far as I can see, Christopher Jeffries was guilty of having let his hair grow too long, so he looked a bit odd. I've made a note to keep my hair tidy, just in case one of my neighbours dies in suspicious circumstances.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Given that it's this bad now, you have to wonder how it can get worse. Then you realise...

Lots of hopeful wishes for you and Lemondaddy.

Also find it disquieting that the press were hovering as the police entered his house.

That is an abuse of power. There are other ways of 'justice being seen to be done'.

If he has done wrong..the press to being there to witness a surprise raid adds no benefit whatsoever.

The only W-N-T-S I can think of is Wells Next The Sea, but think that's in the wrong area!

That WNTS was where I spent a lot of time as a kid. My dad grew up in Herts, but his family are from round that way. Lovely area, great memories.

Who do you look like (or words to that effect because I've accidentally cut that bit out of Doozer's post - sorry Doozer)...

I've said this before, but when I was younger I'd be told I looked like Belinda Carlisle or Kirstie Allie. Now I just look like the town of Carlisle:(.

Others to consider may be the Mini or BMW 1.

If you're considering cheaper then the Fiesta and Hyundai i10 are worth a look.

Have at least 3 test drives and you will have a much better idea.

I have been going through the same process recently as the OH got rid of her horses and we don't need a 4 x 4 now.

I ended up going for the Audi Q3, which wasn't even on my original short list and just by chance that we went in for a test drive.

Thanks allthesssses. I will look at the Fiesta and i10. They are closer to my ballpark. I've so far chucked out everything with less than a 1.2 engine as too small and anything with 3 doors. The BMW is RWD, which I've ruled out as I'm not a great snow driver and in a hilly place they aren't great. I won't go for a Mini as I had one of the originals and they just look obese in comparison.

Audi Q3 is lovely, I hope you enjoy it. I have an Audi currently and love it, have driven from new and don't really want to part with her.

Your suggestion re test driving at least 3 is also a good one. DH has just bought a new car and it wasn't the one he was looking at, at all, it just drifted in from left field and is perfect.

Congratulations on the shiny new badge Lydia. Those columns wouldn't look out of place on Bishops Avenue.

My OH won't have another BMW for the same reason.

I loved the i10 I had on holiday and wasn't so keen on the Fiesta that I had the next year. There is a new improved i10 since then too.

Don't be surprised if you like the i10 or i20 for that matter :D

I wont have the car for 3 months because of the options I chose.

I'll either pick it up in Jan or March.

I once had a hyundai lantra; drove perfectly fine but always felt like it was made of plastic.
