I'd like to open windows ..... but then I'd not be able to relax
And then there's moths/things that come in.
So I keep them closed.
The "perfect" house had little openers, not close to drainpipes etc. This house has windows big enough for me to crawl out of! 7 openers on the ground floor, 5 on the first floor.
One annoying thing about my windows that I've not mentioned is .... the kitchen windows. I once had DG fitted to a house - they looked lovely, until I stood by them to look down the road ... and realised that the whole central horizontal strut and top frame/opener were all at eye level, so I either had to stoop, or stand on tip-toe to look out of the window. Swore blind I'd never make that mistake again. Unfortunately, that's exactly how my kitchen windows are...!
We open the small windows upstairs, but I very rarely have downstairs windows open.
I won't open the one on the landing, as that's a huge one that goes onto the garage roof (we bought the house with PP for an extra 2 bedrooms over the garage, and the landing was done like that when the house was originally extended)
Wouldn't be a problem if the garage hadn't been converted into the dining room, and an additional garage added on.💙💛 💔0 -
That was on TV a few nights ago. I made my mum watch it. I asked Father Christmas to bring me a baby panda, but was told he'd already sorted out my present (which is true). My mum pointed it that pandas are stupid for eating bamboo. I made her take it back because my first teddy was a panda.
He's the only soft toy I specifically moved into my house (I also have a small bunny in my car, and the Mini (car) bulldog I was given for being kept waiting at the garage all day whilst they extracted a large amount of money from me just before Christmas appeared last time my parents visited).0 -
You know how hotmail (and others) are asking for additional security and sending people texts etc to reassess their accounts? Now imagine you are a rough sleeper and have no access to the phone, or you are elderly and not IT savvy and don't have a mobi either. Causing all kinds of chaos in library land atm. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Thanks for the kind & positive words and prayers friends.I have one of these bad boys: http://www.vax.co.uk/carpet-cleaners-and-washers/dual-v-carpet-cleaner-and-washer
(hasten to add, I paid waaaay less than that for it - it was cheaper than of hiring a Rug Doctor, hence the reason I own a carpet cleaner!).
It's ace. My friends beige carpet didn't look dirty at all - they were amazed at the amount of dirt that came out of it.
In case you're wondering, it fits in my car...
On a more serious note - hope all goes well with your pa. It was a very tense couple of weeks earlier this year waiting to hear back about my dad's biopsies. My dad rarely sounds worried about things but that was one episode where he did.Doozergirl wrote: »I think we have water butts you can take from here and do us a favour.Did I mention that I bought a Tower poppy too? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Gmail is asking if you'd like to, but (on mine anyway) isn't forcing you to yet.
I have about 5💙💛 💔0 -

Regarding any potential NP meet. I'd be unavailable all weekdays after next thursday, until the end of october.

I've offered a charity event in September (I'll be going anyway, not sure about DD's yet) with breakfast before.
OH is working that weekend, and I will be without car for the weekend (Jag goes back to the leasing co on the Sat morning, and I dont get the new one until Tuesday)
We may be exhibiting, as long as I have the engine back in the Lada on the date, but I don't know yet.
More details here.💙💛 💔0 -
Just wanted to skulk in quietly and sit at the back of the NPT for a while....except there is no option for that in Internet Land.
I have been following most of the news on the thread and wish to extend congrats to PN and LJ on the house buying, good vibes to Gen and Lydia, congrats to NDG on her new arrival...OMG and this is where I forget someone so I will stop there....but I have been dropping in and posting a thanks...which was meant to say 'I know, I care and good luck etc '.
My lame excuse is that we have had one of the most challenging years emotionally for a long time as my mothers illness took her to the edge, and then affected me in a way that was totally unexpected. I was always the 'difficult one' and, as she was days from death at the end of last year, we got to say the things that never got said.
I find it difficult to write about it...and that was why I couldn't communicate by writing for a period of time...in fact I kind of closed down emotionally and just worked like a demon.
She then had an experimental op (that was filmed) and it has given her a few more years....even the surgeons were amazed at her recovery from it as she was given only a 10% chance of surviving it.
During all of this OH destroyed our house and rebuilt it around us...as we DD and I worked all hours to try and bring in serious wodges of cash in order to complete it. We had no windows during the storms etc and shuffled about all winter freezing cold like Michael Bentines pottymen.
......and then a few weeks back a dream house came into my inbox...so we had a mad rush to finish the house over the past 4 weeks and had our open day Saturday just gone.
Had 2nd viewing today (and the teens chose their bedrooms) then had another viewing tonight..and they want it too.
Got more booked throughout the week and we just need to get a good firm offer so we can make our offer on Dream House before the 15th August.....as no-one wants it...and then the agent called to warn us of a serious viewing this week on the 15th. It is a genuine thing, not an EA ruse.
The Zoopla pics aren't great and the kitchen wasn't quite finished when they did them...no LED lights under units and no plinth/cornice (which took the cupboards up to the ceilings)...in fact, you can see it sitting on the top units waiting to be fitted
The virtual tour pics aren't bad though....

Wow. £400k buys you a small 1 bed flat round here, or a 3 bed if it's tiny, ex LA tower block, and you can't get a mortgage so cash only:

Dream house for us is 400k and it's here http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/33482778
It looks in better cond in the listing that it is. It is a huge heap of neglected 1929 loveliness...with sea views front and back. It also has a 3 bed flat on the 2nd floor and a 2 bed annexe (which needs re-building). It fits into our Live/Work dream as I can fit workspace into it no problem.PasturesNew wrote: »Where I live, £400k gets you a choice of five regular 4-bed houses, 3 detached, 2 terraced.
But £400k would buy plenty of nice/large houses in other areas close by, I'm sure. There are always bigger/cheaper houses in places that we can find a reason to not want to live in.... and if we had £400k we'd still bemoan what it could buyIf the toil is such that DS and DD could either join in or watch, then I will come and toil too.
I am having a bit of time out...what needs doing? Willing and able to help at an point over the next few weeks0 -

This days dragging. My dad is having a biopsy today & I guess that's why I'm in all sorts of avoidance behaviour.
Dunno why it is stressing me though, results take 2 weeks to come through.
Hope he gets the result we all want for him, lj.CKhalvashi wrote: »Any other NP put the heating on?
I know it's probably because I just got back from Georgia (supposedly similar temp, but completely different climate), but we're all really cold.......
Just dug the winter duvets out, until the weather gets little nicer.
Liking this new moto G. Didn't someone else here get one a few months back? If anyone's got £60 and is near a Tesco's they might still be available.
