Our new bathroom has a towel rail AND a radiator.

Positively reckless use of heat. :).

Our bathroom is like that. Very sensible. Towel rails don't give out much heat, we had the one in the family bathroom replaced with a radiator.

In the old house the bathroom radiators were connected to the hot water rather than the heating. It meant that in Spring/ Autumn when the heating wasn't switched on we had warm bathrooms early in the morning.

Ah well, bear it in mind for next year maybe? We always like to introduce more people to the class. Just wish I was up to sailing still myself.

I learnt fro the radiator people that chrome is a really bad colour for radiators. Lydia would know why. Some science reason, but its about the least good colour for goodness. But our towel rail is chrome. Our radiator is dark dirty grey. Its nice, IMO.

In the shower rooms we'll just have bigger towel rails I think. But don't know what sort.

Either that they don't radiate heat or that they go rusty? Or both. Or something completely different :rotfl:

Eventually I expect my bathroom will have a heated towel rail. Until then there is the towel rack that I put over the radiator during my first supervised attempt with the drill. Still makes me smile when I hang my towels on it :)

The rooms are used so little, often very fast .... might as well just leave the door open 15 minutes before you want to go in there if it's a bit nippy. Then you open the window to let the steam out. Waste of heat really.... heating a room you're hardly ever in, before opening the window :)

I'll happily spend an hour in the bath. Warm will be SO wonderful. I just cannot wait for it all to run smoothly this winter.

Our bathroom has two extractor fans, ( one in shower bit, one over bath) so no need to open windows in winter ( though I agree its much better to often, I' certainly air after a deep clean weekly).

I don't mind no heating in bedroom, and have coped really well with none or nearly none everywhere else, but the bathroom being warm is something I can tell you, I REALLY look forward to. :)

My house is all electric. I've looked at getting better heaters in the bathrooms, but then I'd have the cost of running them. In winter we tend to leave the door open to the cloakroom and bathroom (except when in use of course:eek:). If it gets really cold, we have a little pull cord fan heater in each. That warms up the room in about 5 minutes if needed.

    Downstairs loo is finished :)

    .

    That is very spacious.

Now I have downstairs loo envy. A depressive condition that can only be solved by imagination, money and builders.

Pastures, if you're still around at this time, there's a special programme "Who Do They Think They Are? 10 Years, 100 Shows" starting at 10.35 on BBC1. New series starts tomorrow at 9pm. You seem to have been enjoying re-runs recently, so thought would try let you know.

Radiators convect rather than radiate so I don't think the colour matters.

Having said that we have massive black towel rads that we have to turn right down. They heat all year if it is cold, they are the only rooms with no thermo valves so if the heating decides it needs to come on they warm up even if the thermo valves stop any of the other rooms getting warm.

i used to sail dingies when younger but even with no diesel fumes I could still feel sick if there was a swell.
    I think....
