I like spiders.
I think putting them outside effectively kills them anyway, but its what I do.lostinrates wrote: »Your council might have a webpage which shows this. Mine do. It even remembers your address if you want it too. I check it at crazy o'clock on the relevant day of the week most weeks. On some smug days I remember to put it out the night before.
My list thing is a bit out of hand, as it is split into days. So the recurring version has what day it is rubbish & what day is recycling transferred across continually.Downstairs loo is finished
Looks a fantastic job though. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

No rad in the bathroom - brrrrr - all our bathrooms have towel rail radiators.lostinrates wrote: »Our new bathroom has a towel rail AND a radiator.
Positively reckless use of heat..
lostinrates wrote: »I learnt fro the radiator people that chrome is a really bad colour for radiators. Lydia would know why. Some science reason, but its about the least good colour for goodness. But our towel rail is chrome. Our radiator is dark dirty grey. Its nice, IMO.
In the shower rooms we'll just have bigger towel rails I think. But don't know what sort.
Black is the best colour for radiating heat, & would warm rooms quicker/more efficiently.

It is at the front of the house, kitchen is at the back, so maybe not. i thought of a boot room because it is near the front door.
Thank you. The feature wall is formed of tiles that are chopped up and turned bits of the floor tiles. The wall tiles are the same as the floor but in a lighter colour.
I couldn't persuade anyone that glitter grout was the way to go, so the grout is light grey on the walls and dark grey on the floor (to hide the dirt).
I have no idea/recollection of what style of house you have. You may have mentioned.:o If so, I apologise profusely, & refer you to the above post regarding my awful memory...:)lostinrates wrote: »I'll happily spend an hour in the bath. Warm will be SO wonderful. I just cannot wait for it all to run smoothly this winter.
Our bathroom has two extractor fans, ( one in shower bit, one over bath) so no need to open windows in winter ( though I agree its much better to often, I' certainly air after a deep clean weekly).
I don't mind no heating in bedroom, and have coped really well with none or nearly none everywhere else, but the bathroom being warm is something I can tell you, I REALLY look forward to.That is very spacious.
Now I have downstairs loo envy. A depressive condition that can only be solved by imagination, money and builders.
My dad now has new car envy. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

As there is a main loo upstairs, & another in the garage, I split the toilet roll in 2, & set up baskets in each loo.
Have been surprised to note that the garage loo is approaching running out first. That may be because it is accessible when in the garden etc. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Ive been quite cave mannish. In clearing out the side of the shed, where previous a compost heap had been dumped (rotting the shed, which I've been trying to rescue) I found a wood burner. Useful for burning all the logs I chopped from the trees I've taken down.
Saves me having to transport 4 bags of green waste to the folks.
So as it was a still eveing, I had a go.
I poked the fire with a stick a lot, saying "Ug" frequently.
Aren't fires hypnotic? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
That is exactly the arrangement we installed. The old towel rail was leaking, and it had never heated the bathroom properly anyway. So we installed the largest radiator I could find that would fit the space, and then installed a simple unsheathed towel rail over that. We now have a warm bathroom, warm towels.
Most heated towel rails give out very little heat compared to a proper radiator.
Yes, I borrowed the idea from you. You mentioned it sometime last year, I think
No heating on yet, but the towels already dry much better than they did draped over the rad/ on a hook on theback of the door.0 -
Started pinching the blackberries from the neighbours brambles. Small ice cream tub half full. Hopefully that will encourage more to ripen.
I then spent an hour trying to figure a way into next doors garden (it's unoccupied currently, though it appears to have been sold).
Since pruning, the tomato plants have gone mad. Lots of extra flowers, as well as fruits popping up. I left some branches on which I'll remove either this or next weekend.
Been scoffing the homegrown lettuce, whilst planting more.
There is an apple tree in the garden, but I don't know what kind of apple tree it is. My brother has 2 cooking apple trees, which provides much crumbles & pies. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
