Managed to be in all the correct lanes to get home - I do hate it when traffic is busy and you're having to read signs to be in the right lane, then find out you need to change lane when everybody else is already in the right one as they know the journey inside out.
I didn't but not unrectificably ( is that a word? )
Traffic was so bad in salisbury.

You can't take them out! Have you seen how much they cost? If you really must, please at least offer them on Freecycle or Freegle. I'd come and get them, but suspect the journey would be too far for me! <rolls eyes smilie>
:rotfl: Well that would be striking! Might give the postie a shock! You'd prob end up on the local tourist bus route.
But I'm in agreement with LiR that it's your door, your house, and whatever makes you happy is what to go for.
I've just gone out to look at the colour against the brick in the fading light, and I still think it's The Shade for me. Still need to finalise the door, so I'll probably paint up some board so I can see what a bigger area of the colour looks like against the brick. Should have bought a tester really, but I figured it was worth a punt with the voucher.
Freecycle - really? They're really tatty looking (guess they've not been cut back/ divided for quite some time. I'm not particularly fond of them (or the scruffy foliage). There are more in the back garden too.
There are quite a few (what I think are) original features here - I'm pretty sure the tiled fireplace in the living room is original mid-1920s. It's beige, which wouldn't be my first choice in colour (turquiose would
) but it's really grown on me. It needs repairing, I'll work out what to do about that at some point. There are also cast iron fireplaces in 2/3 bedrooms. In the 3rd the fireplace has been filled in. Plan is to eventually restore it. Apparently the interior doors are original too (though they have had stuff - locks, hooks -put into them). The kitchen windows are the only original windows left (they open into the lean-to).
The original features (esp the upstairs fireplaces) were what sold the house to me really.0 -
We'll, then nikkster, its the colour. Get to it.

Huffing and puffing here like a finisher at a marathon .... I'd left the two shelving units in the car and the seats were dropped down, so I didn't want to leave it like that overnight. So I brought them in. Technically I guess they should go upstairs in Bed2 (out of the way) and, ultimately, one at least (maybe both) will probably live in Bed2..... but for now I put them in the downstairs loo .... that was my 2nd choice, first choice was to get them in through the patio doors and lay them down on the floor.... then I realised that pretty soon I'd stub my toe on them, so I reluctantly moved them to the loo.
Everything's in the house now.... so that's a start.0 -

I've stayed out of the colour discussion because .... I'm useless about colours
I didn't want to suggest something that turned out to be wrong - and then it'd forever be "all my fault"
I can't tell what any colour would look like..... and it's even different when it's wet to when it's dried.0 -

Nah - I'm curious to hear the views of others (including my parents) but I'll be the one paying, and living with it so I'll definitely be the one choosing. Don't forget, this is my first chance to choose my own colour schemes. And I'm rebelling against magnolia (though the living room may end up being something along those lines with coloured accessories...).
I like the colours I like. I think certain colours go together. I'm not sure that anyone else agrees with me, but they don't have to
I'm not planning on moving in the foreseeable future. If required, I can always repaint the front door to something more acceptable at that point!0 -
