Er, you might have not noticed the section in the above act which:
(a) Gives the minister the power to use and order the army and,
(b) Gives the minister the power to prevent anyone being prosecuted including himself.
I.e.
"Dear Chav,
Obey. Or these nice men will shoot you."“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Funnily enough an ASBO works on a very similar principle, a court arbitrarily defines something that is not illegal by act of parliament as illegal.....I think....0 -

I think I posted about it at the time.
One of our chooks died, and it's mate was very sick so i took it to the vet.
The vet diagnosed a possible outbreak of Newcastle Disease - highly contagious. Chook PTS and sent to Porton Down. I was asked to return home and await a Defra official. Defra officiall arrived, donned a full white biohazard outfit and presented us with prohibition notice not permitting us to leave the premises.
Next steps , all poultry movements within three miles would be banned, our little flock culled and big yellow bio hazard signs would be hung on our gate.
I was stunned. I was dressed in jeans and slippers whilst someone dressed for a sci fi fancy dress party was telling us we could not leave our home nor have visitors. We would need wellies and disinfectant dips at all exits (it is a semi detached cottage), the public foot path would be closed.
Next morning...all clear. Phew0 -
late afternoon it became very humid here.
I had just started to tidy out my shed. As i was ona bit of a roll and OH was creosoting (environmentally freindly version) the stables, I thought I would keep going in an act of solidarity.
It was like a sauna. I am hoping it was good for my skin/weight loss or something. When I went for a shower every stitch I had been wearing was damp. Yeuk.0 -
I've been out for an afternoon/ evening in the NP Hertland (St. A). Nothing too raucous. And lots of sitting down as it was hot, hot, hot and we were both tired, tired, tired.0

it's much better to have money in multiple currencies in an emergency than a bug out kit.
Not sure I entirely agree with that.
When we lived in less than entirely safe parts of the world we had both.
And *shudder* the dreaded gold and silver coins. (still got them actually, but in a safety deposit box)
Once you've had it trained into you, the mental 'need' to be prepared to leave somewhere quickly and never look back in the event of an emergency is actually surprisingly hard to get rid of....
We still keep 'go bags' and dual passports at the ready.... granted mostly for business use nowadays, but it's also the little things, like making sure you always have a lot of dried/canned food in the house, and a full tank of fuel in the car, etc.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I got France....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
About 20 years ago there was a shigella outbreak in DS1's school. The health authority was incompetent, it spread for about 8 weeks. It was only the school holidays that constrained it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Me too. I found some questions annoying as my answer was "none of those".0
