I quite like getting the drill out and painting the kitchen all by myself (though having slightly longer arms would come in handy sometimes ...!) :D

    l.

DH is just a little taller than me. My legs are as long or longer. Not sure about arms. He doesn't have breasts in the way though, and better upper body strength. He is not a great painter though. I just try not to notice now, at least he has energy!:D

We just checked, his arms are not longer than mine. They are in considerable better shape though:)

I'd acquired the right food, and the weather was going to be scorchio (certainly is). I think I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself as I've had company the past 3 weekends (a rare occurrance), and this weekend I've not. Plus 3 of my good friends are pregnant, 2 I work with so I'm conscious I'll have fewer people to talk to/ have a giggle with in a few months time

Niks you are not far away and would always be welcome to come and cook a BBQ for us...but I'm afraid it would be compulsory to play badminton, jump on the trampoline and do loom bands with the kids whilst DW and I sat in out reclining chairs and sipped cool drinks.

The sky now looks apocalyptic. I think some excitement is in store. The local coop is open til 11 so I may be able to shelter in there.

It's when doing 'man things' like having a BBQ, learning how to drill, putting out the rubbish that I feel most single female though. Even though I'd probably still be doing them even if I wasn't single.

Hugs Nikkster. I feel like that too. :grouphug:
    This was one such link:

you need to re-order colour tiles as they change gradually from, say, pink to green, to get the right order.

I got a score of 3. What about the rest of you?

    0 - perfect colour acuity :D
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Thanks for the kind offer.
As someone who has thus far failed to procreate, or secure the services of someone with a Y chromosome who will char foodstuffs over hot coals for me, I'm more looking for someone to burn my dinner whilst maintaining a level of rawness on the inside whilst I've got my feet up supping a beer/ G+T/ Pimms/ drink of choice. That's got to be the main advantage of being childless - the ability to have a drink or two as you're not responsible for anyone else?

Or at the very least someone sitting here with their feet up supping a beer/ G+T/ Pimms/ drink of choice whilst I'm burning their dinner yet maintaining a level of rawness on the inside.

I'm happy to do babysitting for my usual hourly rate of pay + travel expenses.

If you trek out here fir will barbecuer for you. He loves it....me....not so much. Some one excited about it will thrill him. I'll make you a jug of pimms or jugs of cocktails.

You can answer the excited carried away questions about what might cook on the barbecue after you are full of meAt and salads and grilled fruits. He'll find out you like marmite and try and get you to eat barbecued marmite I should think.

Mmm, all this talk of jugs of Pimms and sausages which are black on the outside (I like them 'well-done'!) is rather tempting. We've got an amber rain alert for tomorrow, and a yellow one for Sunday so perhaps this weekend would be a good time to take the raincheck though

Now this I can definitely empathise with. I went through a couple of phases where a few of my social groups folded because of people starting families, and another weekly meet-up with a very good friend stopped when she got a partner who moved in. I went through a form of adjustment (sounds overly dramatic to call it grieving) for the loss of those relationships in those formats and the fact that I was increasingly billy-no-mates (or that's how it felt). I had some very lonely times.

I'm still alone, but I guess I'm in a phase where it matters less to me. I've got online communities (you guys), regular church friends, my parents, and those friends whose social lives changed are still good friends - I just have to see them under different conditions.

{{hugs}} to anyone feeling the aloneness at the moment.

    Edit to add:
