Well.... they're hung. Two curtains - they fail to meet in the mddle by about 2' and they're about 4" higher than the windowsill.

The net curtain I had balanced on an expanding pole, balanced on the horizontal opening handle of the top window has been scrunched up more so it just covers the middle section of the window now.

... and so long as there isn't a breeze .... should get away with that :)

Only one minor mishap of note. Put rings on first curtain, threaded rings onto pole. For second curtain I was putting one ring on at a time, while holding the pole, then sliding the ring onto the pole. Held it up to take a look and realised that I had the curtains facing different ways..... so one was inside out, whichever way you looked at it :)

Posh alert ... you can make calls :)

Not had a response from the BT lady. Special team still haven't called me "... will call you within one hour...." 30 hours ago.

I sent lir a similar PM to the one I sent you, when her phone line wasn't working. She had quick results, you should try it.

It's all about context really. If you use a word about someone's race to insult them then that's racist. If you use a word about someone's race to describe them then it isn't IMHO.

For example the word 'Pom' isn't racist whereas the phrase 'Pommie baastaad' is I think (although it isn't viewed as such in Aus who have some very strange ideas about what's racist)

IMO, it's all to do with the intent behind the use of the word, as with the n word. It's used as a derogatory term, so has become a no go. P@ki especially is often (probably more often than not) used incorrectly as referring to anyone from southern Asia. When in fact they have no links to Pakistan.

    Edit: cross posted with Gen

    Er:
"Buy me another, you pommie baastaad" vs,
    "Don't hire him. He's a pom."

I think racism is about intent more than anything. All those jokes about Welsh sheep s**gers aren't racist because you don't intend anyone to take them seriously, and you like the person.

But just the word 'Welsh' could be racist, in the right context, if you're using it in the wrong way.

Yes, that's what I said at the time. Then I had to explain that so many people had used P@ki (and n----r) in an offensive way so many times that the words had become inherently racist and were now considered offensive regardless of the intent of the person speaking.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Also, a bank statement is as good as a receipt for providing purchase AIUI.

Supermarkets want the actual receipt detailing what items you bought, not just that you bought something from them.

Looked for builder's phone number - didn't have it written down. Then I remembered that the EA passed my number to him so I'd probably never actually had it.

In a burst of proactivity, rather than leaving it for another day I called up the EA, got the number.
    I even called it :)

Builder is actually very close by this afternoon so is going to pop over when he's finished a job (in a couple of hours).

    Better tidy up a bit!
