When I was growing up in south London three of the typical markers for locals were:

    1. right - a word added in regularly to every sentence

    2. turned round and said - "He turned round and said, right, "do you know what I got?" and I turned round and said.... and he turned round and said....."

it added nothing in meaning to "he said" and "I said".

    3. questions requesting confirmation all the time, "I went to the shop, didn't I? And I bought some fags, right, and he went off with them, didn't he?"

My Mama feeds the dogs after humans have had their dinners. If she doesn't show signs of getting a move on pretty quickly after she's finished her own grub, both collies go and sit next to her, and every time she so much as shifts on her chair, they look ever more hopeful.

In the mornings, once Dad's finished his breakfast, every time he lifts a finger both dogs dash down the corridor to the front door, in case he's about to go for a walk.

    Collies don't do subtle.

I feed dogs miles a way from our meals. There is no confusion between the two. They have a dog safe left over bowl in the dresser for the next meal. ( generally we eat after them because its easier in our routine) in the winter the dogs eat at three or four pm. In summer between five and seven. This evening I fed at six, ( snapper jaws was going) but because it was hot weather they had it as cold soup, not just meat, which is usually what they have in the evening. I would rather have fed later, but dog dog was hungry. Seemed silly to make her wait.

I didn't realise you had a place in Sheringham, I assumed you stayed in an hotel.

Friends used to have a holiday place in Norfolk, but they found the Friday afternoon traffic too tiresome, so sold up and bought a barn near here instead. Barn is only 45 minutes drive from here. Their kids seem to use it more than them, driving over on mid week evenings to do whatever kids do ;)

If possible, we drive at odd times. We came back on Monday evening and managed door to door in 2.5 hours. If the journey were any easier, the place would be much busier, so it has its pluses and minuses. As it is, we prefer to stay a few days if we make the effort to drive up. Your friends are right that it is too much effort just for the weekend.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

How often do you feed dogs? We are feeding Doglet twice a day, normally before we eat, but this seems a bit wrong. I thought their metabolism is geared to gorging every couple of days and then going without?

Hmm. A dog is quite different to a wolf. When you look at doglet how muck like a wolf in physique does she look? :D

Twice a day is good. Ideal I'd say.

Some people like to feed afterwards so that scraps can be given then but also to assert dominance and pack order ( dominant people eat first in packs is the theory behind that).

I don't really hold much with that though, if you need to resort to that then your grip is tenuous IMO. I feed my dogs when is convenient. If I fed after us in the evening then I'd have to be up even later for it to work through the system for last widdly wee wee. I'd get no sleep at all.

I used to feed Avatar dog twice a day.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I gave up with BT. They messed me around royally and then simply refused to compensate for their errors. I moved my home phone lines and broadband to Zen, and the new line and broadband at Sheringham is going to be EE.

One thing that's annoying is I was given my new phone number, which I've already been handing out :(

See, I really shouldn't be allowed to post here. Pop in occasionally (very) have a quick read, learn something interesting, say a few thanks and run. Having beetroot and egg salad tonight (tastes better than it sounds) and am now convinced that I need to buy watercress.... how did I not know this?

    Thanks nice people :)

Nobody needs to buy watercress... use that empty part of the plate for chips. Much better for you.... chips make people happy.

    PN, you have a PM.
Cheers. I'll see what tomorrow brings.

One thing that I've always found tiresome about BT is that it's hard to get in touch with them.

What I did this week was phone them from my mobile (pay per minute) .... but the questions don't fit my problem.... but eventually I get a little indian man, whose English I really don't understand... even the simple 1-2 word parts!

I have to tell the system my phone number, so have to put in my old number. Then the system tells me it is doing a line test (nothing wrong with the line) .... then it tells me there's nothing wrong with the line. Then it asks me if I want an engineer (costing £129) or to speak to somebody, so eventually I choose "speak" ... and get the little indian man ... and I can just explain the problem, he looks it up and says "16th".... and there's no questioning or moaning as he doesn't understand my English and I don't understand his.... so I say thank you and leave it at that.

The website's confusing, it always has been. You go round and round in circles.... getting nowhere.... so can't find a "more relevant phone number to call".

It's nice to have a sofa you can stretch out on, I think. 2-seater's aren't long enough for that, so a 3-seater wins there.
Most are large enough for me.... being a midget :)
