Are you able to work from home? Commute will be horrid too potentially.:(0 -
Sounds better than sweating in an office with broken air conditioning.
Went out for a walk, followed by some soup for lunch. Perhaps not the wisest of choices :rotfl:
I've booked the day off tomorrow so I can sweat at home instead (no soup though).0 -

If you were closer you'd have been welcome to another seaside weekend.... although not much has changed here, so it'd be mean to take you away from the luxury of your own home
You deserve a rest; I hope sweating at home is restful for you.
Are we meant to be getting gales this far 'central south/east south west' this weekend ? Dunno. We're going to the beach anyway.
DH now says he definitely wants speedos. I really NEED that roll eyes smilie.0 -

Anyway, regardless of that, I decided to take a quick run out to Tesco (5 miles) to stock up on some edibles.... treated myself to two pots of sandwich filler and got the "6 for 22p" pitta breads.... then I thought how I'd like to put other stuff in the pittas (e.g. lettuce), but they're a bit pricey and I couldn't eat a whole one. Didn't mind spending 20-30p for half a lettuce, but the choices were 65p for a whole one, £1.30 for a whole one (or two?) in a bag, or a bag of leaves for £2.
I should grow a lettuce next year, then pick off 1-2 leaves the 3x a year I could use some. Instead of lettuce I picked up two carrots to grate.
Only actually spent a total of £9 in Tesco as it wasn't a "big shop" or a "stock up" session. Just got: 2x sandwich filler, 2 chicken curry/rice, pitta breads, two bottles of squash, 5 packs of spicy noodles, 2 huge tins of pineapple and two carrots.
Notice no sweeties and no biscuits and no crisps......
You'd need to up you lettuce intake a little, other wise it will go to seed, then it tastes bitter and nasty.
Micro leaves are lovely, much quicker, more tender, and.......less risk of slugs.....:)0 -

The images look to me like "a bunch of cresses...." never seen the point of cress, what a waste of space that isAs for water cress ... pretty much the same thoughts.
Fact is it's just almost impossible to buy small quantities of fresh crunchy stuff at a sensible price..... so, as I think it's all a waste of space on a plate, I don't bother.
All that micro stuff is just "stuff that'll get stuck in your teeth and be annoying".0 -
Iceburg 49p at Morrison's easily lasts a week.in the fridge.I think....0

Watercress is FAB! and really healthy, ( a so called superfood) and ideal for a single because it makes super soup if you don't eat it all as salad. I easily could eat a pack alone between mon and fri, probably two. There were studies recently that showed women eating a portion a day look younger too.:). Its peppery. Its nice with plain ish cheese, I like it with duck and grapefruit, DH likes it by its self.
Micr salads are good as salads, with things like quinoa ( keen-wa) or in sandwiches. They taste fresh and zingy and punchy.0 -
