I need a very small quantity of stainless steel chicken netting, or something similar. The reason is that we picked up a rather lovely ceramic vase at the charity shop that is too tall to be practical. I bought some glads to go in it and only the tops poked out of the vase. I half filled it with chunks of rubble, and that did the trick, but scrunched up chicken wire would be better. The smallest quantity I can find is 50 meters, whilst all I need is a left over cut off bit, but who sells those?

    Hardware shop?

I actually think your rubble is a good idea though, because glad can be top heavy, especially if you are raising the steams, so I'd want something weighty at the bottom of the vase.

could a short term solution be a sign saying "no right of way"?

    Or

Surely any hardware shop would sell stuff off a big roll, cut to length.... so just wander in and point and say "1 foot of that, ta". Not that I've ever tried it, so there might be a minimum of 1metre.

You could head for farmers places to enquire of offcuts etc. If you can move to the west country, you could pop in here: http://www.molevalleyfarmers.com/mvf/info/store-finder

I'd expect to look at garden centres, and even Homebase/B&Q type of places.... or find something else to use.

I just used Google and typed chicken wire, then hit the "shopping" tab and there are lots of places that sell 10 metres.... which still isn't much good is it :)
    e.g. 10 metres for £16 or so here http://www.rapidonline.com/Art-Design/Modelling-Mesh-Chicken-Wire-10m-06-9333

You could try the local florist..... probably has lots of bits/bobs they use in arrangements etc.

It's a big vase, and with rubble, water, and glads in, it's quite a weight to lift. :)

But, you are right, and I am kicking myself now. Sheringham has an amazing hardware store called Blyth and Wright, and this is just the sort of thing they will have tucked round the back.

The trouble is that most chicken wire is galvanised, and I think it will rust in a vase. I'll see what the hardware store has. Plastic would be okay too.

Instructions online say, when getting broadband, "could be switched on up to midnight"..... well, 5:38 and no engineer, no engineer = no socket anyway .... I don't hold out much hope.

I am "testing" by phoning the number I was given over the telephone as being my new number .... but I've no faith whatsoever.

And to think I sat here, pacing back/forth all day for fear of missing a random engineer's visit to connect/supply a socket.

DD2 is the worst offender: 'Like it is sunny today...'. I always respond by saying 'no I don't like....' and she rephrases. They also get fined for saying the 'y' word.

"I was like" means either "I thought" or "I said". Once you've got that bit, it all become much easier to understand. :p

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Like I was out shopping today and I saw this shirt that I liked, but the price tag was like well expensive, so I said whatever, and that was it for the day.

Where is the plait? Your hair looks super shiny and super straight.

I like the highlights by the way. (Correct use of "like")

I always thought you were darker, in hair and skin colour. You look quite Swedish in that picture.

It's really hard to take a picture of your own hair with no face in it. I got bored trying, plaited my hair, then tried a gain.

Strait hair in dodgy plait, showing my hairdresser didn't get to the root of the matter today! Please don't quote.

That really doesn't look at all like you IMO. Your hair is the wrong colour and too straight!
