I do actually have one way of doing marrow is quite like. I stuff it with minced lamb, dried fruits, lots of spice, whether I mix myself or use something like ras al hanout , some rice. Harissa could be good.

I used to make a rice stuffed marrow dish that involved yoghurt. It was sliced into rings and baked.
Unfortunately I gave the recipe book away as it was rarely used ...and did not write this down. I am usually pretty good at making 'approximations' but I tried making this again and it was tasteless...so I must have forgotten something essential.0 -

Shed's not been touched (it doesn't lock, but I'd set the catches to a particular position and my bike's still there) .... but somebody, for whatever reason they chose, has clearly gone all the way through.
So, gates/bolts are now top priority.
Today I should get phone/broadband connected.
It needs to be sorted but may not be anything sinister, if teh previous occupants allowed it as an access/short cut the users just need to know there is a change of ownership and it is not allowed anymore.
The bolts will be a clue to this!
I am quite relaxed about such things as we have a public footpath across our little field. before we put post and rail fencing we often had strangers wander down the path past the kitchen window instead of going over the stile. Our fence pretty much put a stop to this as it was 'clue' that ramblers were going the wrong way.0 -

There is a front gate and a back gate. Both just with a latch. The front door is accessible only after passing through the front gate.
So, to put bolts/locks on I also need to get/fitted a safe/secure postal box for the postie. Only once I have that can I lock the gates.
So I need to research/find/order/get a postal box that's fit for purpose. Then (without knowing anybody) find a good tradesman who can cut a hole in the gate and fit the postbox.... and sort out the warped wood adjoined to the house, to then fit top/bottom bolts ... and also to fit a "key operated lock/handle" in the middle of both gates.
If it were just "buy/fit one bolt" I'd feel confident I could achieve that myself today.
It's a half day job for a competent person, who might also supply/fit a new solid wooden piece to fix to the house.... so not "the first bumbling person you encounter that says they can do it" either.
Could a short term solution be a sign saying "no right of way"?
Or
"Beware of the dog?"0 -
I just took the solar lights into the understairs cupboard, they all work
It charges up in daylight, then you flick the switch to "on" and when it gets dark enough they turn on.
They look lovely0 -

Monday the postie came at 11.30, today he arrived at 3pm, so his times are very random.
A sign would be a pain to make/stick up ... and would look common/tattyI am quite relaxed about such things ....0 -

Do you have a large painted hardboard sign saying "Lir and Fir's house"?
An elderly couple who live near us have recently covered their house name sign with a piece of cardboard on which is written their surname and the housename. To weather proof it, it has a clear plastic bag and some parcel tape.

I need a very small quantity of stainless steel chicken netting, or something similar. The reason is that we picked up a rather lovely ceramic vase at the charity shop that is too tall to be practical. I bought some glads to go in it and only the tops poked out of the vase. I half filled it with chunks of rubble, and that did the trick, but scrunched up chicken wire would be better. The smallest quantity I can find is 50 meters, whilst all I need is a left over cut off bit, but who sells those? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Tasteful.
This year we finally got round to putting a painted sign with the house name up ( till now had been a black board but some one stole our black board)
Right now we have sign up advertising gig ( tickets still available nice peeps).
RP likes to remind us that some one once said, 'oh yes, I know which is your daughters house! They live at ' beware of the dogs!'. Actually, we live at either beware of the dogs or caution dogs running free, depending which gate you go to.
Or member of farm/ horse watch. Or CCTV in operation. And its about to be a no smoking sign on yard entrance and possibly a strictly no entrance without appt sign. We have the mandatory dangerous gases signs on the muck heap and lake cake too.
Lots a signs. Don't like 'em.0
