You have two kids to ferry about and you are suggesting getting something smaller than a mini??????

Even little passengers make a 4 door far easier than a 2. (I know a mini has 4, just saying in case there were 2 door options on the horizon.)

My car choice is always a compromise. I prefer to drive smaller cars but like a high seating position. Although most of my driving is local, I do have irregular trips 150 miles on the motorway, so anything below 1.4l is going to be painful.

OH always toys with the idea that a sports car would be fun, but we still do travel long distances as a family, and my car isn't really big enough for 4 adults and luggage in a 1.6l on the motorway.

I think I saw the same thing as zag and thought, this kid isn't going to last  He looked in a bad way. Then he was quiet for a couple of years, maybe it was some sort of burn out.
I thought his last hit was his best hit so far and hope he's managing himself ok.

We saw him at Glastonbury a few years ago...he was fabulous but appeared wrecked.

OH had never heard him before...and then played Paolo Nuttini CDs in the car for about ayear non stop, like a love struck teen.

Are the LED ones not ok for sight impaired people? I find them to be excellent and very cheap to run.

well my dad has macula disease and has been advised to use old fashioned light bulbs - the new ones flicker very quickly and are bad for eyes also can cause epileptic fits. so the old bulbs should be wanted bhy somebody.

We finally ate the rillettes and lamb.

The rillettes were undercooked a little so get a nc (half a nom). The flavour was right: they were salty and junipery but there were lumps of fat in there and they weren't unctuous and stringy like they should be.

The lamb shanks though? Nom, nom, nom. A full house of nom!

Had them with saute spuds, stir fried brussels and roast aubergine. Plus a lovely thick red wine, veggie and redcurrant jelly gravy. The Girl, who decided that she was full and so didn't want any dinner at all, ate it all including the eggplant (aubergine is great for mopping up gravy).

Interesting. I can see the older 'energy saving' bulbs flicker myself and I find it annoying. I went out about a year ago and changed everything to LEDs and I think they're fantastic. No flicker (I use OSRAM and Philips, I understand that the cheaper ones do flicker), lovely light quality (even better than old filament bulbs IMHO), they cost buttons to run, they light up straight away rather than needing time to warm up and I've not changed a bulb since.:T

Sounds like you should be trying out the old bulbs before giving them away lir. Someone I'm close to gets more depressed using the new lighting vs the old style ones too. I don't think they've tried LED yet though.

    Going through old clothes.....

    Really old.

Found a kids dress( age ten) from 'st Michael's' :) showing was bought when I was at school. Wow at the difference in quality. I'll probably chuck it out though.

I am also getting rid of two 'designer' child's dresses I hated then and still hate now but remember dramas over and have hung on to because of importance around them. I'm actually quite excited to get rid of them. Not that I think the charity shop will be excited to receive the monstrosities!

Oh, just found a picture of special girl back stage playing Black Bess with some actor I cannot remember the name of and David Bellamy was there going gaga over special girl.

The irony is speacial girl was very poorly cast as black Bess, who was probably a good three hands smaller than she was.

...I've got lamb shanks in the slow cooker for when we get back, some home made rillettes and a batch of puff pastry ready for tarte tatin.

You'll make somebody a lovely little wife :)
