Well that was fun.
But I am definitely getting old.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Hamish,
When I first got ill, and we were seeing doctors trying to find out what was wrong, I was what 24 ish? 25, I dunno, cannot remember. Any way, not old!
And one of the doctors said to me, ' well, none of us are getting any younger'. DH and I were stunned.
We didn't feel aging then, and then DH got really angry.
Now of course I know its not true, the guy had obviously hadn't spent much time with his aging parents, who in many ways feel like kids.0 -

Tip, or do some people still want these?
people with sight impairment seek these out as the new low energy ones are too poor a light to actually see by!! My dad still buys them up in the frozen north so sure freecyclers would like them.0 -

Thanks, does this include 40 watt ones? We have lots of 40 watt candle shaped ones.

Are the LED ones not ok for sight impaired people? I find them to be excellent and very cheap to run.0 -
Watching T in the Park after getting angry at the programme about planned obsolescence. Am more and more conbvinced computers peaked ten years ago and everything since is a waste of time and money(well I swear it's true from macs).
Speaking of unplanned obsolescence, What with the last Ramone dying yesterday, I'm worried Paolo Nutini doesn't look healthy. Saw him close up at the Jools Holland show and it's hard to believe he's only 10 years older than DS. The 27 club's full enough, we don't need him in it as well..
yes I saw that prog and thought it very interesting. That's why washing machine cookers etc used to last 50 years and now last 5. My nan bought one cooker/wash machine and they outlasted her! now in a lifetime we buy about 5 or 6. That's so wasteful but can be partly circumvented by using freegle & freecycle and re-using equipment.0 -
So, that cat came back last night. We've nick named it Rapnoc. We'd closed all the windows it could use again, so it sat below ours and went in a loud but meek way,
'Mau'.
With the regularity of a metronome. Pink whistley actually looked really quite horrified we were not letting it in, so I think she thinks its family. Given she really was not a Bombay Duck bombelone fan I feel to fall for a cat who steals her food and pees in the house is a little contrary.0 -
...in the park where I will be suggesting to my compatriots that they also grow a pair and vote for independence from the westminster yoke......
Hamish is a "no" supporter, isn't he?Doozergirl wrote: »Stressed about it. I can hand my car back in January and go for something cheaper/smaller myself but how is that fair?
You have two kids to ferry about and you are suggesting getting something smaller than a mini??????Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Yes, should have explained that one a bit better.....
Mostly involves me walking around a music festival having thoughts like..... 'it's too loud'.....'what is that rubbish they're playing'..... 'for heavens sake put some clothes on young lady'.... etc.
Rather than 'wooo hoooo'..... 'more beer'...... 'great tune'..... 'hot babes'..... which would have been my thoughts a decade ago....:oHamish is a "no" supporter, isn't he?
