Still no phone and no broadband.

Logged onto my BT account and it's still showing my old phone number .... and I can't contact them until 8am.

Welcome to moving house with BT :(

We've been months now without a landline and broadband. It has little effect on our lives, just my phone battery gets drained because it's the fastest for tethering to.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

    Brilliant!

I only went with them the first time as my line/address doesn't appear on anybody's systems and the last tenant had used BT, so I went with them ... and waited about 6 weeks to get connected.

It was all booked on the phone to occur on the 10th - and the man on the phone is telling me that it's down in their diary for 16th, so on hold (on a pay per minute mobile) waiting to be transferred to the people that set the dates.......

At least I have my dongle, but I've given people my "new number" ....

I can't even attempt tethering as I don't seem to get a posh-phone signal here and have no way of knowing how to check, or if it's a setting or something.

I never got round to transferring my old "brick phone" service to the new posh phone.... looks like that, too, was fortuitous as that is what I am using.

Man at BT says line is being transferred by Tuesday and as [a] I was on an expensive mobile he was Indian and struggling with my English/vernacular [c] I don't think arguing the toss would have any different an outcome .... I'll have to just suck it up.

Sounds like someone jotted down the 10th but the 0 was mistaken for a 6.......
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I had a similar experience on one of my house moves and had to call them from the local Safeways payphone. I stood my ground, warned them they would be held responsible if now ex hubby had a hypo and I couldn't call help (this was before mobile phones were widespread) and hey presto, one press of the button and my phone service active.

I can be very tenacious when I want to be.....

Couldn't really understand .... but I'm guessing that he was telling me that because the sellers weren't using BT they have to "put an order in" for some other team to do something. Who knows... you can't ask an Indian on the phone questions because [a] they don't understand you once you go off script you can't understand their English anyway :)

    That's not racist; it's fact.

When we moved in we found the previous owners dog had been allowed to scratch all the doors and the floors. Missing keys for the balcony and loads of rubbish chucked behind the shed. Also the garage had about 10 large unwanted items.

Most annoying was that the hot water didn't reach the en-suites. that took 3 call outs to plumbers to sort. The first refused to touch anything because the boiler had been put in a cupboard and the access wasn't sufficient. The second because we didn't have an installation certificate from the manufacturer. The third found a failing valve and replaced.
Oh and ours did sort of clean as well, but not really. I find it odd that when your renting you have to get it "professionally cleaned" with carpets steam cleaned and curtains dry cleaned etc, but selling you just hand it over in whatever state you fancy with no recourse.

Our vendors also left the shed with no locking mechanism on it. The only thing in the shed apart from rubbish was a crowbar. Just outside our backgate (about 7ft high) someone has dumped a rusty old 6ft step ladder as well, it was like it had been nicely set up for teh burglarz. The crowbar is now stored inside but the steps are still there, I think they belong to the mechanic workshop which is back there somewhere so I can't just chuck 'em.
New jelly was pretty clean all said, as it was up for sale or to rent anyway.

What annoyed me was all the statements about being sold as seen, all curtains etc will be left, then on moving in day, went & found no curtains! They'd also removed a few other things, outside light dug up for example, & no work done around the boiler they'd replaced.

I was annoyed about the curtains.

They'd also left the summerhouse doors & shed wide open too, which meant all sorts of animals have been in. I need to flea bomb the places.

PN I've mentioned the garden - I had 12 sacks of strimmed grass. I've chopped numerous very thorny trees/bushes which had overgrown (up to 32 sacks now, & the biggest tree yet to be felled).

I am frequently impressed by the wide range of interests and social media/web links NP post.

I am prepared to make an exception for pornhub.
How do you get tweets from there?
A screenshot of the tweet was posted on a football forum I go on. Honest.:p

Casual ( well working round the place) shorts. He seriously would wear speedos and a tool belt but I prefer the idea of 1970s ( ?) short shorts. Given the choice. I'm not sure either are going to work for him but....you know....
I'd suggest 80's football shorts. Perhaps ebay or similar may have them?

So, drove all the way to oxford last night, only to arrive to find a sign on the door saying the gig was postponed. Frustrated more than anything else, as was looking forward to it. Hoping that Penguin Cafe tonight makes up for missing out.

However, all good things happen for a reason! Got straight back in the car to drive back home. The gig has been postponed, & a new date is in November, so no real biggie. Inconvenienced by the fact that I've lost the time & £ in petrol costs, but no real biggie.

So, setting off just after 8.45, heading back up the m40 towards the midlands. & am driving constantly towards the most amazing sunset. For well over an hour, in front of the car is the most amazing scene of reds, oranges, purples, blues with a few clouds about & this huge burning tarnished disc of fire in the sky. The colours & views were so awe inspiring. Magical.
