I like it a lot.
I'm an iPad user and it much better than the logged in version.
Please don't change it, I've have had to turn brightness down a wee bit as the white is very white but that will save my battery a wee bit....very Mse!0 -

Ummm.... It looks a bit too white (and bluey)
I like the old style pastel green.
Also my browser is not up to it - but that's my own fault as I don't or can't use a modern browser. I am 1 in 100,000,000 who still uses Win 98 so I can only go for firefox 2.0.0.20 (really old), on your new look I now get a stopscript error which means I have to wait about a minute and press 'stop' every time I change a page. This happens to me on other websites such as play.com but most websites still don't affect me and my old browser. If MSE went that way, I would not come back until I upgrade my computer......pigs might fly before I do that.
Change is often rejected by people who have come to know a website as one of their main haunts, IMDb.com for example changed about a year ago and everyone was up in arms, so IMDb gave them the option of logging in with the oldstyle look.
If you do change it, try to offer us old folk the option to login with oldstyle.0 -

That said, I can see the sub forums in 2 ways,
1. You can use the drop down "forum jump" box near the top of every page
2. In the forum home page, where you scroll down through all the different forums, I see the sub forums under each main forum headings, those that have sub fourms they are listed like sub directories under each title, those that don't have sub forums is blank underneath. So I could see your competitions sub forums with my rusty old browser on a desktop PC.
Regarding your other post about page numbers, again it might be the mobile look has not got all the features, but I found the page numbers at the bottom of the page all under neath each other like this:

The new look MSE is awful.
Difficult to navigate, too bright white background, don't like the layout, just basically bloody awful.
If it changes to that permanently I may have to forgo my MSE habit on a permanent basis (just a few minutes on the new version was enough to bring on a headache).
I don't know what proportion of MSErs have various health conditions which impact on their interaction with websites - I would hazard a guess there is a few - I really really hope that these people's feedback will be taken into account as for many this place is a valuable support network (and accessibility should be a key part of ANY website design - it isn't about making things look pretty - it is about making them functional and easy to use, easy on the eye, and easy for those with disabilities to use).

I can't give technical reasons for disliking the new layout.
But I can say, without hesitation, that I really, really dislike it. It just looks awful, and it actually hurts my eyes.
(This goes well beyond my usual "Meh, I don't really like it, but I suppose I'll get used to it"!)0
