I've just worked out what looked so weird - on the left hand side of the screen, where, on a normal forum the poster's details would appear, there just an avatar, how many posts, and how many thanks - the posters name doesn't even appear there !Early retired - 18th December 2014

Personally I would have been happy with some slight tweaking of the current style to make it look a bit more up to date.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

And it's no good asking me (in the message at the top) to upgrade my browser on a work PC where I have no control over which browser is installed (but which runs the old Forum perfectly well).
It is totally not the business of any website to tell us what browser we use. It is our business what one we use. I use Internet Explorer myself basically and could swop to another one (ie Firefox) if I choose to...but why should I/We? Any website (MSE or otherwise) should be fully accessible on any common browser WE choose to use. On the odd occasions where any website has reacted badly to my choice of browser, then I've just decided not to bother to try to reach that particular website any more, because "the customer is always right"...so why would I?0 -
When companies/organisations 'trial' something, what it actually means is they are 'testing' it for bugs and errors. In other words the new format is certain to be coming and people will moan for a few weeks and then get used to it.
Personally I think it is awful, and even worse when viewed on an iPhone. But, as these things go in business people have to justify a salary and they do that by fixing things that don't need fixing.0 -
You mean that phrase "new broom sweeps clean". I'd rather go with "If it aint broke then don't fix it" myself.
Their prerogative I guess and they may want to lose "customers" and that's entirely their decision, if so....0 -
Really don't like the look of it and it's difficult to use.
Please keep the old style forum.0 -
The new layout is horrible, too white and boring.0

I don't like it.
The layout is weird. The colour choice is horrid and generally I found it really hard to read.
It was such a relief to log in and find the "old" style still there!Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -
Just one request from me. If the forum layouts are going to change can you at least keep one "feature": The one that lets you use the old layout from 2007 rather than force the new versions onto people.
SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -
my eyes, my eyes!! - eventually found where to log in - ahh that's better.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
