New look Forum for non-logged in visitors

Wow! What the hell happened there then?!?! I thought I'd slipped into a parallel universe and it wasn't pretty.

The new format is truly awful not just because it's unfamiliar but it's so hard to navigate. It's not clear at all. Please don't change the forum to this style.

I think it's natural not to like change, so anything new and different is often not acceptable to people.


But having said that, after 5 minutes of trying the new format, I found so many things that I didn't like.


First of all I tried it on my iPad mini, and then on IE on my laptop. It actually displayed a bit better in Safari, and the log in button was clear to see, but on IE there seem to be formatting problems - did you really intend the log in and sign up buttons to be that small and hidden away in a corner?

Thanked posts - when clicking on this button I didn't like that the names of the people who left thanks was displayed in a pop up box.


If a poster;s signature is longer than three lines I didn't like that you had to press a drop down arrow to read the rest of it


Where's my badges gone - they weren't displayed on the new version.


I think I'll have to get an avatar now, as it's very plain in the 'about the poster' section on the left hand side of the screen, although I'll clearly have to be careful what avatar I pick as I noticed that peoples avatars weren't fully visible in the small circle provided for this purpose. Most peoples avatars are square in shape - maybe a square would be better than a circle? Interesting information like a person's location and joining date wasn't visible either

Quotes - if a poster quotes a previous post, the name of the original poster is tiny, so you can't readily see who is being quoted.


Don't like the massive picture at the top of each board, particularly annoying on iPad mini


Number of thread views in format '11.7k'. What happened to good old fashioned numbers.


All this was noted in about 5 minutes, I'm sure there is more, if I used it more.

Yes, it's shocking and I too had problems finding the log in button.

What's wrong with the original forum? Anyone going to answer this question?

Looks OK on Chrome. More white space than we might be used to, but that just take some getting used to. I think I prefer this to the old version.

Terrible formatting on IE though and I imagine most people use IE, so it'll be disruptive for many.
