Rummer that is so encouraging :T. It would be good to hear some tips from you as you seem to have made good progress. I am very interested in how you have achieved a capsule wardrobe.
I was totally ruthless and got rid of all the clothes that- Showed wear
- Didn't fit well
- Didn't make me feel good
Then I took stock of what I had left and thought out a colour scheme so that I only needed a few key pieces to have a selection of outfits. I now have:
3 pairs trousers - tan, black and navy
2 cardigans - blue and light grey
4 core dresses - 2 blue, green and black
5 tops - white, pink, blue and 2 black
That is for good weather and it worked really well when I was away
I do have other clothes remaining that need bits added to them for other seasons and work however I want to really slim down first and then I will review it. The clothes that I bought were mainly from the H&M basics range and a couple from ASDA so low in cost and ideal for the summer.
If I am honest I had been constantly making do with clothes I did not like as I kept convincing myself that I would lose weight and then invest in clothes that I loved. However now I like my clothes and am making an effort to fab and it has given me more motivation to get fitter and healthier so a win all round.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Thank you Rummer that is so encouraging. I plan to send bags of stuff to the CS this week. I am decorating my bedroom, so it is a good time for a clear out.0

Fabulous post - sorry I've cut a bit out…..I just wanted to highlight a couple of points though.
How often to we "keep things for best" and then just make do with any old thing for every day - not just clothes, jewellery etc but things we use in the home too - linen, crockery, glassware etc. Boxes and boxes of the stuff, cupboards just full to the brim. What are we saving it all for……
.
I've been thinking about this a lot just lately, especially now that I'm decluttering both my parent's house as well as my own. I've decided that from now on I will use things. My children are no longer toddlers so I don't have to worry about breakages or damage.
So for me no more "saving things for best". The best is now, the best is today - there might not be many more tomorrows anyway. I shall be 63 tomorrow - time to stop saving things and start using them - whilst I still can.
Several years ago my eldest son bought me a beautiful Crown Derby china mug for my tea. (I'm fussy I only like to drink tea from a china cup). The mug was really expensive so I put it in a cupboard still in it's box thinking "It's far too beautiful to use every day".
What tosh. Don't I deserve to use beautiful things if someone is generous enough to buy them for me. Why do I only allow myself to use the second best stuff.
Well the new minimalist me says that's nonsense. I should use my lovely things, wear my nice clothes and stop making do with second best.
If I'm going to downsize and part with my stuff then I shall keep only the very best and use it till it falls apart.
Sounds like a metaphor for life really. Use it all up and live to the max!!!
Live for today.
Have a Fab weekend.0 -
In case I don't get on tomorrow LL, have a great birthday!:T
I'll imagine you sitting in the sun in the morning having your morning tea in your Crown Derby mug!
I love the sound of your capsule wardrobe rummer. Hopefully it'll spur me on to having another sort through my wardrobe. I did sort through my 'hot weather' clothes before my holiday and took some to the CS but there's room for much improvement.
Had my nails done this morning, really dark red, almost aubergine. I tried a pale colour a couple of months ago and wasn't keen.
Hope you've been having a lovely day pru.0 -
Thank you for all the wishes for a lovely day, we really enjoyed it
OH now watching the football and I am giving thoughts to getting my clothes organised, especially after LL's wonderful post.
When my bedroom is finally decorated (this may be a while yet :rotfl:) I am going to have less storage. I am going to purchase this set:

plus an additional bedside table. I will have have a large unit in a similar style which is about the size of a single wardrobe and is divided into three sections; a large cupboard top and bottom and the middle section is open with a shelve half way across.0 -
Birthday greeting to LL, hope that you have a lovely day with your dearest ones.

Sorry for not posting before and for forgetting who suggested it, but thank you for the advice regarding the use of Vaseline on cuticles and nails.
I didn't have any but I did have a Avon royal jelly and almond lip balm that was heading for the bin. It's since been repurposed and has done the trick with the added bonus of being small and easy to keep within reach.

Happy Birthday LL :bdaycake: I hope that you are spending the day surrounded by those you love and feeling fabulous!
Yesterday I started my new healthy eating plan and it all went wellI stuck to it and didn't feel hungry which was a relief :rotfl: Also got all the holiday laundry done so my capsule wardrobe is back in order.
I think I will go for a long walk today and try to get some pilates done as I have scrimped a bit on the exercise recently and ever little helpsTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Happy Birthday LL, I hope you have a lovely day
Well done on getting back on track so quickly Rummer.
I have done my back exercises today and I am beginning to see a real difference in my flexibility, so that 20 minutes is paying off. I then had a six mile cycle ride. It was lovely as it is a beautiful morning and there was hardly anyone else out on the railway track. When I came back I made a huge smoothie of mixed berries, parsley, mango, romaine lettuce, cucumber, 2 dates, poppy seeds and chia.
I need to do some housework today and I want to do some work in my kitchen cupboards to reorganise them to make space for my healthy things like hemp, flax, almond butter etc.
I have made a rough list of my 33 wardrobe items and I am planning out how to organise the space in my new bedroom. At some point this week I need to shop for clothes for exercising.0
