LL, wise words from you as usual, I think that we all need to remind ourselves from time to time that we have a duty of care to ourselves. Like you I have invested a considerable sum of my disposable income on physio etc rather than holidays, clothes and the like as the help that I need is only available privately, I realise that this is not possible for everyone, but thanks to the wonders of the internet and technology there are lots of ways that we can improve our lives, support from this place and the people here makes it so much easier too.

I hope that the move goes well and that your new home is soon less of a building site.

Maddiemay what a wonderful post! This is exactly where my thoughts are just now. I have hit 48 and go through a lot of pain daily and will struggle to continue working in my current job (with disabled children) late into life unless I look after myself better. I don't have a lot of money, but as you say the internet is a huge help. I started back exercise using loads of youtube videos a month ago and have already begun to improve my back and plantar fascititis.

    My plans for today are:

    Back exercises (done)
A cycle ride (edit: 6 miles done)
    Begin researching some yoga exercises
A hair treatment (done). I used a Philip Kingsley eslastiser (spelling!) and a CW intense conditioner.
    Pedicure

    Eating plans:

    B. Kedgeree (never made before!) & tomatoes (Edit: didn't like kedgeree, though OH did)
    L. Homemade pea and mint soup, carrots sticks and tangerines
    D. Quorn spag bol, wholemeal spagetti & a big salad, fresh pineapple.

    Hi,

Wow lots of newbies on here since I last posted. A fair few of you seem to be having or have had tough times, I'm sure you'll find the support on here valuable -I know I have- I can only re-iterate small steps really are the way, be kind to yourself and yes you are worth it. I know i'm guilty of putting my needs after that others so I often find it difficult to take my own advice :o but I'm getting much better at it. ;) It didn't happen overnight. If it's a bit of pampering you're after groupon/living social etc are good for beauty offers.

Speaking of which i enjoyed a spa afternoon over the weekend courtesy of above. It was a lovely relaxing afternoon with tea and cakes served afterwards. I'm now on the lookout for my next one.:)

I'm contemplating wether I'm confident enough to go to a local theatre alone as no one else fancies the show i want to see. One min I think i can next i'm not so sure. i also want to go out and about over the summer and as the children are teenagers they aren't so keen on coming so I may have to pluck up courage and go exploring on my own too.

DS3 is 18 next week so family celebrations to take place - a bit difficult as DD1 is currently at odds with her brothers. I've decided to invite everyone and leave it to them -fed up of tying myself in knots worrying about it all.

Anyway enough for now - take it easy - be kind to yourself :)

lizzie, I used to go to the cinema on my own all the time. It was a bit weird at first, but eventually it transpired that the same people went at the same time each week so it was quite nice. We didn't ever become friends or anything but it was comfortable.

I can't say I had a perfect diet this week but since last Sunday I haven't had any "treats" or anything like that. I had a couple of slices of toast on Saturday morning but other than that I stuck to meals. Very pleased with myself.

Chucked a couple of not that great items into the charity rag bag this morning, that feels good too. Have a good week everyone.

Good morning everyone. Sorry for no post yesterday. I had a bit of news which knocked me sideways and took up the day with phone calls. I did manage a shop at Asda and stocked up with some healthy food ( and forgot a few items :o). I managed my back exercises, a short walk, but not a lot of food preparation. For breakfast I had porridge with berries and tablespoon of greek yogurt, Lunch was a wholemeal pitta & humus with a huge plate of salad with spinach, rocket, beansprouts, beetroot, cucumber, tomato, & cress. Dinner was some cold chicken, another huge salad and some new potatoes. I also ate some tangerines and strawberries. I am hoping to make a vegetarian thai curry soup today with cashews, vegetables, bean spouts & rice noodles. Not sure about breakfast yet. I am going to have a shower and walk to the post office with a card first.

My other plan for today is to begin auditing and sorting toiletries as I have joined the no buying toiletries thread with a view to reducing, but having ones that get the best results for me.

LL I googled sick and nearly dead thank you :) I will try and watch it today. Just wondering if anyone here uses a juicier?

Hi prudent , I love my juicer. That film is a real catalyst to considering your health. I love adding lots of green veggies to mine. Gets them all in, in one go :)

There is soluble finer in there so you are still getting fiber. I rinse my mouth out with water after I've had mine with the sweet fruit. I love it. Enjoy :)

Thanks sweetcheeks I was a bit concerned about the fiber, so that is good to know. I don't have a juicer, but would definitely consider one. I walked for about an hour this morning, fitting in posting a letter and booking the car in for a service. Then I came home and used my blender to make a smoothie with strawberries, parsley, ginger, watermelon, cranberries, bean sprouts & spinach. It was lovely. I then did a massage on my legs, buttocks and upper back/neck area using tennis balls in a sock. Better do some housework now I suppose ...

I think I probably would feel okay about going to the theatre on my own; it's mostly quiet time or focussed on the show anyway with dimmed lights, so nobody really knows who you're with. Depending on the type of show there's usually a gang of women or a group outing sitting nearby that might strike up a bit of conversation or have a giggle with, if you wanted to.

I'm still muchly slacking on the fabness and not been feeling too great; just started on a second round of anti-biotics for a sinus infection that just won't go away.

I'm ready to join back in with the fabbing after falling off the wagon for a bit too long.

I've made a start by buying some nice new summery clothes and I've just dyed my hair (I had more roots showing than previous dye which is saying a lot with my very long hair)

I'm planning a nice hair restyle and getting my nails back to good condition so I can make them pretty again.

    Hi all
I definitely go to the cinema/theatre on my own - I did it loads when I was single/was away with work and still do it sometimes now if I don't know anyone who wants to go with me (and OH isn't bother enough about it for us to get a babysitter).

Well I had a busy day yesterday so am working at home today, which is so much more relaxing than travelling to and being in the office (the work chairs are killing my back at the moment).

I've just started project 333 - it's a way to get a handle on my clothes, I still have so many. Basically you pick out 33 items of clothing/shoes/accessories and wear only them for 3 months - it was a real struggle for me to pick the clothes, but I'm hoping it will make my life so much easier (less to choose from, knowing that clothes will go together etc etc). I've had to change one of my items today as I realised I was missing something from my 333 wardrobe, but I'm feeling positive :)
    - oh and I added a pair of trousers to my wardrobe that didn't fit a few weeks ago and now do! Not sure quite how I managed that...

I'm also looking forward to tonight, where I'm doing nothing other than having a Lush bath (bath bomb AND bubble bar!) and Lush face mask - bliss! I did a toiletries audit the other day and whilst I still have huge amounts of things such as shower gels, the other stuff is going down - so I treated myself to a Lush shopping trip :) It was very :money:though as I took back 5 of their pots empty, so got a free face mask and bought the other stuff using a voucher from birthday/Christmas :j

Right, better get back to work...

    Hi,
thanks ladies, :) I think you may have convinced me. I'll take a look later and book a seat. Have just booked another spa afternoon. :) so something to look forward to.

It's rather warm here, have been for a walk with doggies this morning and whilst walking decided I need step up the fabbing a bit. Will have a think what's needed and introduce some steps slowly.

    Enjoy the sun everyone :)
