Welcome happe
You will find great support on here.
Hello everyone, sorry for the very infrequent posts. I am struggling with a lot of back pain, so everything I do seems to take longer so not a lot of fabbing time. I went to the physio on Friday. He was very good and spent a whole hour with me which I did not expect from an NHS physio appointment. He has asked me to do just 3 sets of exercises day, they only take me about 5 minutes which is much less than I was doing. I am going back in two weeks and if things have not improved he wants me to have an MRI.
Tru I love bootcut jeans & trousers too. They just seem to suit my figure. I badly need trousers, but my back is too sore to shop much at the moment.
Rummer[/B well done on the diet, I haven't done so well recently. I did manage to get a great walking/horse riding warm zip top in Aldi yesterday. I can't do either at the moment, but the top was exactly what I wanted.
SW I love project 333. It is helping to preventing me making buys I would regret later. I have also found I need to keep the colour scheme quite defined and helps me focus just on the colours that suit me best.0 -
Hi everyone, hope the weekend has been fun.
I treated myself to a ton of fabbing stuff at the vegan festival yesterday - face oil, a scented body oil, peppermint foot balm, a lipstick (I never wear lipstick) the lady at the mineral makeup stall was helpful as always and guided me through the selection process. What else did I get? Oh, I Choose What I Use were there and had buy one, get one half price on some of their stuff so I bought two tubes of my favourite Sea Buckthorn body wash. I used it all when we got home yesterday and felt gorgeous!
Someone also complimented me on my outfit *yay*.
I'm afraid I fall into the category of folk who think that bootcut jeans look a bit dated these days, at least I think they do on me, I used to live in them! I've just ditched trousers in general to avoid the skinny jeans problem.0 -
I have never suited jeans and shopping for them is as fun as dental treatment for me so as a result the only ones I own were given to me by my sister and are truly unflattering. In fact I really should get rid of them!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Given that all the major jean retailers seem to sell all shapes, I didn't think there was an "in" shape for jeans now? I thought it came down to which shape suits you best.
I thought about "not your daughters jeans" but apparently they are a bit frumpy. I have also hard of "7 for all mankind" but they are eyepoppingly expensive. I find supermarket jeans are shapeless. Next seem ok, and I have some joe browns that are amazing.
I also look at what folks are wearing when I am out and about, in a "does that work, would it suit me" kind of way. Likewise I try and ask myself what I would think of my outfit, if I saw someone else wearing it. I know it s a bit shallow, but if I think I look ok I feel fab!I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Good evening ladies
Interesting discussion about jeans.
I recently found myself wondering if I should ditch the jeans now that I'm 63 but they really are useful, you can dress them up with a jacket or be really casual with a cardigan or top.
I suit boot cut jeans best, I do have some skinnies - technically I think they are jeggings. I wear them under mini dresses in the winter as part of my "layering". I wear them with pixie boots to balance them out.
I think these days there is such a wide choice of styles that you can just wear what suits you best, rather than what's "in fashion"
I try to take that approach with my clothes, I don't slavishly follow fashion but prefer to try and dress in a way that suits my shape. I made a fair few mistakes when I was younger but I think I've now found a signature style which suits me best. I tend to favour fairly simple tailored clothes in block colours. I restrict patterns to either a scarf or top. I don't do frills or flounces but I do occasionally do "floaty"
I have had nice productive weekend. Yesterday I spent a nice afternoon with mum, got the carers to wheel her chair into the conservatory and played her some of her favourite songs on my IPad. She doesn't seem able to concentrate on the TV so I'm going to take in my CD player and some of her favourite singers, Cliff. Richard, Frank Sinatra etc. She seems to respond to music, smiling and nodding in time to the beat.
Today I gave the cellar a good clean and then had a nice potter in the garden. Feel shattered now so will have an early night. Physio tomorrow and then back to the paperwork......Getting here.
VJ's Mum - it's not shallow at all. I enjoy people watching and I do take note if I see someone looking especially nice.
I definitely agree with the comments about charity shopping. I often stumble across some really good makes and have bought some real bargains. The other good thing about charity shopping is that you can experiment a bit, trying different looks or colours that you might not normally consider.
And......I couldn't agree more, if I make an effort to look good it makes me feel better. I do get a psychological boost from knowing that I'm nicely turned out.
I also think people react differently to you depending on our appearance and the way we present ourselves.
We all know that you shouldn't judge a book by looking at its cover, but the reality is, that is exactly what does happen. People do make value judgements based on someone's appearance. Whether we like it or not people do judge us by what they see.
Hope you are all well. Have a good week, best foot forward and happy fabbing.0 -

Rummer I am trying to pick myself up too. There seems to be so much going on in my life though I am finding time really squeezed. Work is very demanding and full on as I am two weeks behind after being signed off with my back & we have inspectors coming in two weeks time. Trying to do the little routines I got established over the summer when I can.0

Afternoon All
I've had a busy-ish morning. I went out running first thing with a couple of friends. We did 3 miles in just under 40 minutes - not bad really considering we are all grandmothers!
This thread is really helping me think about what I eat and wear. I tried several combinations of tops with my jeans this morning and settled on a navy and white striped jumper with a V-neck. I'm not sure what I shall wear for work later on yet. First I have to go to school to pick up DGD with her parents so that I know the routine for later this week when they are away on Wednesday. Its her first full day at school so will be interesting to see how she got on.
We had a lovely day together yesterday, and walked all over the place. I actually measured how far she walked and it was over 3 miles - she's only tiny and very dainty so quite impressive. No wonder her legs were tired by the end of the day.
I've lost 2lbs so far since signing up to the thread so am really pleased. I'm just cutting down on calories and making sure that every meal is a joy to eat.So we are just about to have a very late lunch as we've been out earlier and we are having steak with new potatoes, petit pois and mushrooms.
I really enjoyed Pride last night- it is well worth seeing. I even managed to save up enough calories to have an icecream- and I enjoyed every mouthful!
