Afternoon All,
I had a really lazy morning as went back to bed with a book after getting up early but have made up for it this afternoon as I've done loads of cooking. I've made butternut squash soup so I can take a flask to work tonight and have a couple more portions in the freezer. I also made a mince and onion base for a cottage pie and used some more of the mince to make a mock lasagne using slices of aubergine instead of pasta and no layers of creamy sauce, just grated cheese on top ready for tomorrow. Mum called whilst I was doing that so I had a quick drink with her as I cooked - low calorie squash for me rather than going out for a Frappucino as we often do, which meant I saved calories.
I've also cleaned out the chickens and done some watering in the garden so am now planning an hour of fabbing before work at five.
The hairdresser made a lovely job of the highlights in my hair, putting in 2 different blondes to tone in with the previous colour. It's a sort of a bob but just long enough to tie up on bad hair days too. I'm now going to pin it out of the way and go and have a bath and do a bit of de-fuzzing and pedicuring as DH is out for the afternoon. I shall then try to sort out an outfit suitable for work - which means flat or flattish shoes or boots - that also makes me feel good.
I had a ten minute dash round a couple of charity shops yesterday whilst Mum went to the bank and found a lovely Joules top to wear with my exercise gear - its navy and white striped with a hood on the back and a zip up the front. They retail for about £50 so I was thrilled to get it for under a fiver.
Have a good weekend everyone
Rose
ETA: Nearly fell asleep in the bath but fortunately DH rang me as he won't be back in time to see me before I go to work (I run a small family business with my son and his wife). I chose cream cropped trousers as the weather is still quite good, teamed with a black jersey Monsoon top with long sleeves and scoop neckline, cream flatties and black and silver necklace and earrings. The whole outfit apart from jewellery came from charity shops and the jewellery was all presents. Even my handbag (cream leather) is a charity shop find so a very frugal outfit. I also ran the straighteners over my hair and had a good squirt of perfume.Weight Loss Challenge 5/7/19 10st 6lbs

Welcome WWDIT,
Just jump on the wagon to fabdom, I will look forward to reading about your progress
RoseWood, great that you found a good replacement hairdresser
Your ensemble for work sounds lovely and very MSE.
Butternut squash is a favourite of mine, I like it roasted.
Today has been a good day. I went to the local farmers market and stocked up on fruit, veg and fresh herbs, tomorrow will be a day in the kitchen. I shall need to start early because it is going to be really hot again
I plan to give myself a mini facial later and finish with a aspirin mask.
Hope all you other ladies are having a good Saturday?

Hello all
Hope you're all having a good weekend. I've made the most of the weather (cloudy and dry, if no sun) and spent the day outside at the park with children running around everywhere - I feel much better for being outside
I've been doing Project 333 so have not bought any news clothes for an age, but have splashed out the last few weeks on a few tops to replace ones I've realised don't suit me. Then I needed some smart-casual clothes for a few days away with work, so have bought some cotton jeans/trousers (it doesn't seem right referring to anything that isn't denim as "jeans") and also bought another couple of jeans to replace my 3 pairs of straight leg jeans which do nothing for me.
I've heard it said that bootcut jeans are very unfashionable at the moment, but frankly jeggings/skinnies/straight legs do me absolutely no favours, so I don't care if I am unfashionable
There were some very glamorous mums at the park today - plenty of money (judging my the cars they were driving) but did make me feel a scruff. I wonder if some people are just effortlessly stylish?0 -

They do me no favours either unless I pair them with boots or cuff them halfway up my leg. I need boot cut jeans to balance out my wider middle and swimmers shoulders.
That said I was browsing Pinterest for celebrity style ideas and loads of Jennifer Anniston and she wears mostly boot cut jeans. If it's good enough for her then it's good enough for me;)
Is it easier to be stylish when you have money to buy the more expensive clothing? I am not sure but I've felt the same way as you, been to some parks frequented by more monied parents and felt they were more stylish. Is that just my insecurities or are they really better dressed......I am not sure.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Betty and Bitsy,
There will always be someone that is better dressed(in our opinion) that does not mean you are not equally well turned out (unless, like me 'just pop to the shop no one I know will see me') We would not be normal if we did not noticed well turned out peeps, women and men. It just means that you have an eye for the nice things in life. I find if I feel a bit down then that will reflect in how I perceive things.
Chin up both of you

Hello, I have been reading but I have got a bit lost
so hugs to those that need them, high fives to those celebrating and welcome to the new posters I am looking forward to sharing your fabbing journey
Today I had a lovely time just relaxing with my family and although I wasn't all glam (quite the opposite in fact :rotfl:) it was exactly what I needed and I feel centred again after an unsettling few days. I have been making the most of the good weather and taking time to read in the garden every day even if only for a few minutes. Fresh air and nature go a long way to making me feel fab.
My change in diet continues to go reasonably well although I do need to curb the sugar more and to work out quick meals that will be suitable for when life gets busy again.
Yesterday my DD asked if she could start a skincare regime. At the moment she has flawless skin so I don't want her to cover her face in
chemicals. However she is keen so I thought I could find some middle ground of a face wash and a moisturiser. What would be the most gentle?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Hello whichwhydoIturn and Rose Wood :hello: Sorry I keep missing people, I read the thread backwards sometimes and miss things
I love bootcut jeans, I have three pairs but two are a bit scruffy now so I'm going hunting for more this week. I love my leggings too, but always wear them with boots.
My leg doesn't like this cooler weather, the muscles in my right hip and thigh automatically tense up and I have to really concentrate on relaxing them.
I was a bit lazy yesterday, will make up for it todayI have the house to myself this morning, first job is to tackle the chicken shed (mite problem, so will be cleaning the shed then flinging mite powder around, which I will get covered in!) then a hot shower with all the lotions and potions. I'm going to spend half an hour just doing stretches. Seems daft to do that after a shower but I need the heat from the shower to warm up and relax everything. Plus the stretches are done very slowly so it's not sweaty exercise. Just waiting for the man-trus to leave then I can get started
Rummer I'm racking my brains to think what I first bought for miss tru when she asked about moisturisers, etc. and and I just can't remember :undecided I do remember buying individual sachets of cleanser, facewash, etc. for her to try out. I haven't checked yet, but you might find some on the freebies board.

Morning All
I have my 4 year old grand daughter arriving shortly for the day whilst DS and DDiL work so am posting early.
It was interesting the comments about how some people manage to look expensive. Whenever I see someone I think looks great I try to analyse why and I think it often comes down to good grooming - all their clothes look well cared for, go together well, accessories are all well chosen and their hair looks freshly styled - even if its only jeans and top they are wearing.
One of the reasons I like shopping in charity shops is because I can pick up expensive makes for pennies. For example, today I am wearing the Joules navy striped top I picked up on Friday, teamed with some Country Casual jeans - again from a charity shop. I've also got a raspberry pink long sleeved top underneath - yet another charity shop find. Bought new I reckon, with my black ankle boots (CS!), would cost over £150 but I have only paid £15 max for it and yet I feel it looks good. All the items look hardly worn and I feel like a million dollars. I really think this thread is helping me to think a bit harder about what I am wearing - and making me feel Fab in the process.
I have DGD till after dinner this evening - DS and DDiL will be here for the meal too and then DH and I plan to go to the cinema to see Pride. My exercise for the day will be playing - dancing round the sitting room, racing round the garden, walking to the park etc so not much sitting down.
Hope you all have a lovely day too.
Can't help with the skin care routine I'm afraid. All I use is a flannel and hot water every day. I don't wear make up and never have though I used to have my eyelashes dyed. I haven't done that for a year as I had an eye allergy last year (not to the dye something unrelated) and have never dared risked it.

Hi, I hope is ok if i join you merry ladies. I first found this thread on Friday and read it from the start, sometimes smiling and sometimes with tears in my eyes. I finished it feeling inspired so thank you.
I have a big birthday in January and I refuse to be fat, frumpy and 50.
I have started my journey by joining slimming world back in July and have lost 37lbs since then, I still have along way to go but my self esteem is growing by the day. I will be fabulous!!0
