Sky September increases 2014

Thanks, Ben.
Hope you're right. The "Original" (formerly the "Entertainment") pack/bundle (with discount) and the indeed original HD Pack (with free F1 HD) combination, carefully preserved and protected, suits my needs ideally and inexpensively.Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

I cancelled the lot back in 2008 when the minimum package increased from £15 a month. I thought that £180 a year was quite enough to be donating to Murdoch's coffers and I certainly wasn't going to pay more. Since then I must have saved more than £1200 !0

It’s all about what channels you actually want to watch and how much you’re prepared (or able) to pay for them.
For everyone, that’s a different equation.
What I don’t understand is why, if you haven’t bothered to pay for Sky since 2008 – which is fair enough – you are still following this thread six years later?Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

Confirmed prices from September:
Original Bundle £21.50
Variety Bundle £28
Family Bundle £33
Movies £16.50
Sports £24.500 -
Am I being stupid here (probably) but isn't a £2.50 increase for Sky Sports an 11.5% rise?0
-
Its 11.4%. Thats an eye-watering amount saying they have added no significant new content. Indeed, they've lost some quite significant rights. Half the EPL first picks, half the Rugby first picks, the Aviva Premiership Rugby and The CL after next season.
With such an increase, it looks like they're going to bid big in the next EPL auction. The previous estimate on Skys MPB (maximum possible bid) was £2.3b. They can blow that out of the water now.0 -
Free BB for 2 years came with some strings I guess. Are they even legally allowed to increase it by that much? If you're on a 12 month contract I'm sure you'll have some grounds to break it no?0

Apparently, we're getting Sky Sports 5.
I don't even watch Sky Sports 2 to 4, so why do I want number 5?
Fortunately, I've just started my latest half price 12 month deal. Otherwise I would have cancelled by now.
Sky should remember three words - 'straw' and camel's back'.
I want Sky Sports for two things, and two things only. English Premier League and Champions League. And the latter is disappearing after the next season."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

The reasons for SS5 are threefold -
To get users to register, so the sales teams can get stuck into existing subbers to increase their packages. The free BB offer is dependent on taking Skys line rental as well. But do nothing and one would get it anyway.
To deny BT TV Sky subbers from watching the CL for next season.
To tie current subbers down into a new contract.
Still, they are a business, just like anyone else. They are only trying to protect what they've already got, user wise. Funny way of going about it though.
Edit - Oh, and on SS5 they have added the Eredivisie (the Dutch football league).0 -
