I wish I didn't eat on my achieve nothing days.

To be honest INOD I'm so bored of food. I really need to sort this out as I don't want it to be something the little one pick up on. I've read through a number of diaries on here but nothing seems to tempt the taste buds.

    hey parsniphead,
I've not been so active on it recently but been on the hoarders thread for over a year and have noticed you on it.
the reason I've been less active is a need to get hold of my debt (it was getting to near breaking point), I have read through this diary and I think it's difficult to see from the inside what others see from the outside which is that you are doing marvellously under very difficult circumstances.

you're raising a small child - that right there is not nothing, and can take up all of a persons existence - or break them. You have also near cracked your debt in a long and difficult journey with set backs that you have overcome. You are tackling ?hoarding issues or other emotional issues that lead to keeping hold of stuff.

that is amazing. you are amazing.

I'm 5ft 2 and a half and currently 13 stone, I held onto "stuff" for a lot of emotional reasons and I'm 17K in debt, I struggle to parent my children and work. These things are intertwined and it's hard to unpick them and deal with all at once. please don't be ashamed, of your surroundings, situation, behaviours and most importantly never of yourself. You are making a better world for your little one, family and you.

That's a journey, which needs to involve reflective "do nothing" days, (although in reality you kept another human being alive so hardly a do nothing day), because we are not machines (we are much more wonderful than that).

    Thank you for this lobbyludd.

Thank you for your lovely comments. Debts affects us all so much and in so many ways, but I always know that a short time on here helps me feel less alone.

Having debt and children is very hard. I feel like I missed out on so much having to return to work when he was eight months old. He will be heading off to nursery for two and a half days in September so the next few weeks are incredibly precious before he is sucked into the education system for the rest of his childhood and my baby will be gone forever. I know that I would have brought him up the same way if I had money when he was little as I don't believe children should be spoiled or entertained 24/7, but not having money caused me to not focus on enjoying the time I had.

You made me laugh saying you were 5' 2" and a HALF. Its amazing how important that little half inch is to us shorties isn't it?

You will succeed paying off you debt. I know 17K is a large amount but with planning its more than doable. I was single and living on my own when it hit me I was £35000 in debt. I knew it was going to be a long journey but it has been worth it.

I have to go as I have a toddler attacking the laptop shouting put the MR Man on.

  • Hi x I think that everything in life has days were things either move at an alarming pace or just tick along nicely, it can be frustrating when there seems to be no progress but steps are being made all the time. Every direct debit is another amount paid off, every coupon used at the supermarket is a little bit saved.

For me I am so glad to have two weeks off work where I have been able to achieve lots of things around the house but most importantly spend some time with the kids.

Don't beat yourself up over the chill out days, these are just as important to be able to refocus and be strong for the next little hurdle to be dealt with.

    Well done C x

    Hello diary

Thanks for the comment chrysalis. I know chill out days should be enjoyed but I like to be doing something if only pottering. I find the daft mood i have been in recently very frustrating. I hope you are having a great time with the kids. I'm having loads of fun with my little one and dreading going back to work.

Not much done to day. I have a bit of a dreamy Doris head on and have been struggling to concentrate on what needs to be done. Anyway I decided to have a mooch on my payplan account and saw this.............

    Payment Details
    Total paid to date: £26,235.00
Last payment date and amount: 06/08/2014 £309.00
Next payment date and amount: 02/09/2014 £309.00
    Estimated total remaining debt*: £1,778.59
    Estimated completion date*: 02/01/2015

Less than £2000....... Woohoo.:j:):j. I'm not going to focus on the big figure at the top because that's the past, gone, no point in worrying over. Well if something's going to spur me on it's that.

Anyway over the years I have [STRIKE]stalked[/STRIKE] I mean followed many people on here, one of them being memorygirl. There will be many people who know this name and possibly quake in the boots of her [STRIKE]tightfistedness[/STRIKE], erm money saving/debt paying off skills. Well I was thinking earlier if she saw this figure it would most likely be I'm not having that, it has to go and probably within the next half an hour. Therefore a challenge to myself is to get rid of this pesky flippin debt once and for all by 31st October ( just after my 44th :eek::eek: birthday).

I'm in bed now with notebook in hand trying to figure how much I can do to achieve this. I don't want to let myself down again.

    Have a good night all.

  • You can do it. Especially when you consider how much it will reduce with regular payments.

  • hey parsniphead, just a quick wee post to say you're definitely not on your own with the lack of oomph. I think there's a lot of it about at the mo, all these lovely reasons why things should be rosy for people and still not quite sure why things aren't quite right.

Keep smiling, we will all get there. I hate being in debt but we are doing something about it and will not be beaten :) X

    Thanks lionheartedgirl, INOD and chrysalis.

I find it very difficult when the oomph goes as I like to be doing something. Anyway the oomph is back again.:j

A trip to the tip this morning then I need to start clearing out the back room. We have been using the small front room as a sitting room for a while as it was more economical to heat when I lived alone. Anyway it's too small really for all of us and we have been saying for a while a move into the larger room would probably be better but DH was worried about moving the sky box. Anyway a couple of weeks ago the sky box died (hurray, big party) so DH cancelled the TV package as he tended to watch terrestrial channels mostly and replaced it with a box where you pay once and that's it. A selection of rubbish like on sky but less.

Anyway I'm waffling, sorry. Last night DH came in and said how good the place was starting to look and he was impressed with how hard I had been working. He has Aspergers and to notice anything which isn't to do with something he is doing is a miracle. He then said about moving the rooms around on his week off. I said that it would have to wait as we needed new carpet. The carpet is from the 60's and is the most, hideous, revolting, disgusting, migraine inducing swirly pattern ever to grace the earth and I told him I can sit looking at it every night so he said he would pay for some more. he's not mean but CAREFUL with money and being colourblind didn't see a problem with the carpet.

So off I went and priced some. Today I need to go and get the paint to do the walls so we can get the carpet laid.

    I'm very excited.....sorry.

The hard work is paying off.

Oh I need to get his birthday pressie. Must do today.

  • Hi parsniphead, I read through your diary so far and just wanted to say well done for getting under £2000, it such a nice feeling to hit goals like that and I like your attitude just tackling little bits, it all make a difference (money and home!) and it will be totally worth it. Keep going! :)
