  • Hi parsniphead, well done on all you've achieved, it's amazing how when you worked out a debt per day how little it was now imagine something in the top up shop that would cost the same and it's easy to see where this little savings can be made. Top up shops are still my problem too mainly extra fruit because we all go through it so quickly but then of course something else gets thrown into the basket. I think T**co will send out a search party when I get in to a better routine!

Good luck with you orders I hope it brings in a steady flow of extra funds.

Sounds like the other mum will be a nice companion, I have no real friends around here, we moved from 250 miles away so no common upbringing and many are younger than me too. I have met some like-minded people through my sports and athletics interests though so maybe one day when I actually have some free time I'll act on it!

    Thanks for the reply chrysalis.

I feel it will be the small amounts that will make all the difference. To be able to pay off the DMP before the end of the year would be a massive boost.

Top up shops are my big downfall and it's always the cheese which has run out. This leads onto another challenge I have, to loose the lbs. I currently have three stones worth too many. After tipping the scales at 12 st I need to get this sorted. I'm only 5ft 2in and feel every step is a struggle at the moment. I have 7 weeks before returning to work in September to start to make a difference. I'm an older mum with a weight problem and I want to see my toddler grow up. Any struggles I have loosing weight will be worth it. If only food were a little more exciting and cheese didn't exist it would be easy. I'm very bored of food by the way. Same thing week in, week out.

Off to bed now, feeling pooped. Night.

  • I love cheese too it shouldn't be so blooming nice! Do you meal plan, maybe you could have a look at a cookbook or online to do a new recipe once a week/fortnight to add something different to your meals.

I'm sure your debt busting will ticking along nicely.

    Hi chrysalis.

Yes I do meal plan and have to plan around fussy people. I do spring the odd new thing on them though. I have just finished for the summer hols so think a few new recipes must be tried.

Cheese is my biggest downfall and I have sworn off it for the foreseeable future, especially after getting myself weighed and the fat measured today.......38% body fat:eek::o:eek:. It HAS to go.

Thank you for that in need of direction. I will definitely head in that direction. To be honest I could happily live on a food pill. I really want for the little one to be adventurous and try new things so I need to try harder.

Right a running tap to fix so off to fit some new washers. I would ask DH but he would probably burst into tears. He is more the academic and I'm the practical one. He can cook though.

    Morning diary.

My final entry before I head off on holiday tomorrow. I have been paying off some bits and bobs but don't have a lot spare until payday. What I have been doing is blitzing my house of clutter and rubbish. I know have a bunch of rooms which I scan start the hard work decorating when I get back. I have decided to move into the back room and use the smaller front room as a sewing/music workshop. This will be better as we can shut the door on it and not have to spend day after day walking through it when it's in the back room. I desperately need some new carpet as the one I have would embarrass the 60's. It's a swirly, vile affair and after nearly 12 years I can't live with it any longer. I also need the fire disconnected and taken out so I can pull out the nasty fireplace. I would really like an open fire or wood burner but that will have to wait. I have three mood boards showing what I want each part of the room to look like so will crack on with that when I return.

One big are to declutter is the cellar which I'm going to do one step (literally) at a time. I can then get down and start working in the main part of the cellar. It's fantastic storage space but complete chaos. It needs to be sorted.

Off to do the last bit of ironing now and then get packed for the off tomorrow to sunny Mablethorpe.:)

Back to reality then. I arrived back from lovely, sunny lincolnshire on Friday and have spent the last few days washing, ironing and putting stuff away. To be honest within 1 hr of retuning a load of washing had been done and the suitcase had been emptied and out away. This is very unlike me.:j

Anyway this morning DH has been packed off back to work and now I can get on with the job of sorting the house as much as possible in the next five weeks before being back at work. This will need to be done as frugally as possible as I only get paid for weeks worked and have also had a reduction in wages for the last five weeks of term as I had to temporarily drop a days work. One of the places where there should be some fixings to do some diy is the cellar so that needs sorting as quickly as possible. I possibly need to buy some sealant for around the bath and may invest in one of those massive tubs of white paint from the DIY shop to freshen up three rooms. One of the rooms will need a splash of colour and new carpet when funds allow but this will have to wait.

I was paid last Friday but have been trying to ignore it until this Friday so it doesn't seem like a 5 week month. I need to get some electric as I only have £5 left but I still have £24 worth of gas so I think I will put £20 aside should I need anymore later this month but hopefully not. With the funds being tight this month this will help out.if I still have it at the end of the month it will be paid towards my debts.

I have decided to try to pay off at least 10% of my debt this month so will need to work out what I need to pay on top of my usual figure. I need to get my thinking cap on. Perhaps I can find some stuff to ebay.

    Jobs for this week

    *Replace tiles in the bathroom
    *Seal around the bath
    *Clear the cellar steps
*Make a meal plan from the stocks in the kitchen
*Paint one room ( this will be on Wednesday when DS is at kindergarten. He is still going even though I'm off work. He only does one day and it will give me chance to catch Un on non child friendly jobs. Plus I'm not paying £39 pounds out a week for nothing.)
*Start sorting through the cupboard from hell in the bedroom.

Hopefully all this will be done and a few more added.

    Must get on.:)

This morning I'm heading into the cellar for the big clear out. Then off to the tip.

Hopefully I will find some stuff I can sell but potentially I may never be seen again.

    It's been nice knowing you.
