I have been carrying on with the sorting, cleaning and throwing away, albeit with a 3 year old in tow. I didn't thet as much done as planned but once again it's continuing to look better. Tomorrow morning I have three hour on my own when the little one is at nursery so I'm going to have a mad, mini spring clean. I want to get the kitchen sorted and the downstairs vacuuming done before dropping him off so that I can use those three hours productively.

We are also planning to start the process of swaping over the bedrooms next week which will involve packing up some of the clutter in step sons bedroom before cleaning and tidying. This needs to be done before starting with the white paint. It's currently painted a very dark grey which is dreadful. It's such a lovely, bright, sunny room and I can't wait to get it back to something bright.

I have so many jobs to be done which will keep me from spending unnecessarily. I'm also lucky enough to have a cellar full of bits which can be used. I've definately found my renovation mojo again.

Last night before bed and for half an hour this morning I spent starting to sort some of the stuff in step sons bedroom. Oh my word, what a mess. I have always insisted that he clean it himself. He is an adult and I don't see why I should do it while he sits on his backside doing b#gger all. I rarely enter the room and was really shocked. The dust was so thick, I don't think he has done it once in three years.

He only stays there occasionally now, I think its three nights so far this year. So hence him swapping to the box room and the little one moving to the larger room with all his toys which are all around the house (there is no room in his bed room). I need to paint it but its going to be a heck of a cleaning job, so this mornings spring clean is going to be a bedroom detox. Surfacesvwill need to be vacuumed before I even try to dust.

I will have to put one of the sets of draws into my room as all the furniture won't fit in his new room so finally I will have somewhere to put my bed linen and blankets. This will help with organisation in my room.

Once the bedrooms have been swapped i can get rid of all the toys in the front room and get that room sorted.

While doing his room I have come to some conclusions.

    A) I need to learn how to organise myself.

    B) I need to learn to not be a procrastinator.

This are the areas which cause so many of the problems, not only house but money wise.

It all seems to be coming together.

I don't know why suddenly I have become addicted to the diary buts its helping me sort myself out.

That room sounds so appealing lol. Maybe you should take a before and after pic so you can see exactly how well you have done when you've finished.

I know exactly what you mean with the diary being so addictive on here. I'm pretty positive writing daily on here was a major reason I managed to save so much for the hol.

Have fun with the room :) xx

    Sassychick.

I have spent 1 1/2 hours vacuuming. Under the bed was like a spooky film set. I won't dwell too much on the thick, black cobwebs, 15 empty and not so empty pop bottles, 8 empty chocolate boxes and general filth.

Perhaps folks think I should have cleaned it weekly but I have a whole house to do and as an adult he should be responsible for his own room.

Funny thing is that he and his girlfriend are SOOOOOOO stuck up and I have heard them sl@gging me off if there has been crumbs in the grill pan after cooking toast. People in glass houses, eh.

Going back in. That's going to be my little ones room and it has to be clean first.

I'm feeling a little, no very worried this morning. Its great that I have recognised this feeling early as previously I would have spiralled into chaos.

I have a very heavy month coming up moneywise with a couple of birthdays and a birthday party for the little one. I know the party isn't really necessary but it will be his first party and he will be four so I feel it will be a treat before he leaves nursery and all his friends move on.

There may have to be a lot of money shuffling to cover everything luckily I have a little stash of food in so can hopefully halve my food costs and a week off work for me and DH so a cut in petrol costs. We do have three trips into Birmingham for DH family events but he is going to have to cough up some petrol money.

I'm going to spend my lunch break going through the figures with a fine tooth comb before financial chaos starts again. I may even post my figures here to keep me motivated and amend with spends.

So its going to be tough, very tough but if I keep on top of it I should squeeze through the month.

  • I always did the party thing for my two even though it was an expense I frequently couldn't afford. Not having been a stay at home mum it also gave me a chance to connect with their friends. Have you an idea of numbers and of what you'd like to serve? It can be done relatively cheaply. If you're stuck for some ideas, pm me. As for other matters, just set it all out in black and white and work through it as you need to. You're great at coping so have some faith.

    Ah thank INOD.

I have booked a reasonably priced thing at a soft play place. It was much less than I imagined. I couldn't face anyone coming here as the house is still like a half finished tip. I do have some plans for next year, more of a traditional affair.

Looking at money and everything has changed a little today for the better. Our car has been on its last legs for a long time. So DH decided we needed a new one, well a new to us one. So today we got a lovely six year old with 22000 miles on the clock. He is paying for it as I pay all the other car costs. The good news is that it's going to cost £25 per month rather than the £50 I'm paying at the moment. Also it's only £30 road tax. I currently pay £220 per year. On top of that it does an average of 52 mpg compared to the 36 I'm getting at the moment. The savings so far are fab.:):D I just need the current one to keep going until Thursday. It is That bad. Also I won't need to hire a car for the holiday.......another saving.

I will need to redo my budget and factor in the the changes and see where I stand. It will be nice to see the difference.

I have just got home to a letter from the Halifax. I have no dealings with the Halifax. They have reassessed a PPI claim I made on two cards back in 2012 and have reversed their decision.

    They are sending me £2984:eek::j:T

I said yesterday on a thread that I wanted to be debt free this year but it would be difficult. I need to look at figures but I reackon I can now do it.

    Feeling numb shaky but excited.

With all the savings I'm going to make with the new car life is going to be so much easier.

I feel life is suddenly taking a turn for the better.

After this mornings good news my brain has been spinning all day. What to do, how to allocate it, etc. Anyway I have made some decisions I'm going to pay off two debts completely, one of them being a credit card and the other a family loan I should have paid off a long time ago. I know it's not accruing interest but I appreciate what that person did for me and need to pay it back. That will leave about £1300 of debt, one small cc debt and one large one which I can pay off by the end of the year.

I'm determined to be debt free by Christmas day 2015 but would love it if I could achieve it by my 45th birthday in October.

I used to post on the debt free before Xmas thread and rally need to get back into this as they are a really supportive bunch.

Oh no, have to go. DS is dipping Captain Scarlett in his wee in the potty.
