    Thanks supersaver.

I think I went through a very dark period a while back and have decided I'm not going back. The debts are coming down and I seem to have found some more motivation so other things are getting done too. I'm not the most patient of people but I think I've learnt the hard way that sometimes you have to just go with the flow.

A few more jobs have been done today. Another patch of the veggie plot has been cleared and the beans sticks have been put up ready. I also managed to mow the lawn which is amazing. That job is on a par with vacuuming which I also find tedious. The thing is the garden looks so much nicer and bigger when it has been done.

I have been thinking about winter today....yes I know it's stupid. But the thing is I love reading the Preparing for Winter thread over on the Old-style board which tends to really get going as autumn/ winter kicks in. Now this old victorian terrace with single skin of brick and no double glazing gets freezing by that point and all I want to do is snuggle under a blanket and not move. So I decided to start going back over the old thread and make some changes and preparations now so when it does kick in I'm a little ahead of the game and warmer. I would love to get the house double glazed but the funds don't allow for that yet, even though I have started saving towards it. I was considering getting them done a few at a time. Whether that would make any difference really I'm not sure. One job I can do is properly block up the old fireplace in the kitchen which used to house a heater with back boiler and fit some skirting. The draft at times is like a gale blowing.:o it's a job to be done which wouldn't cost too much.

Well back to work tomorrow for three days. I shouldn't moan but I'm on such a roll I don't want to break the cycle I have got into. Never mind an hour in the morning and another at night will keep me motivated. Perhaps I can sort my workshop too while there.

Right. Off to bed. Another 5am start.

    Hi hon

Just caught up with the last month's entries and you seem to be going great guns! Once you start to see things moving in the right direction it seems so much easier.

Keep up the good work :) xx

Glad to hear it parsniphead, ooh I'll try that old style board. We too have draughts galore and no double glazing. I keep meaning to make some Roman blinds but it's another one of 'those' jobs. :rotfl:

ps I still picture you with a parsnip head, a bit like straw man out of the wizard of oz

Thanks sassychick. I've realised eventually I need to keep a positive frame of mind to achieve anything.

Supersaver- a little dumpy version of straw man.;)

The oldstyle boards are great, I love them. Its the only place I go apart from DFW. I feel your pain with the draughty, single glazed house. It doesn't help here that when its windy it funnels through the flats near my house and it like a freezing hurricane. Somehow I will make this house toasty warm.

Work is really getting in the way this week. I only have one day left and then I can get back to planting, sorting and planning. Oh and the odd bit of decoration.I have been looking around the house to see what small jobs can be done to keep me motivated. Some of the drainpipes have been painted black in the past and have started to peel a little. I have decided to get a small pot of paint, rub them down and repaint for the time being. I did get a quote quote to replace them all as a few have been patched, etc but at £500  it was too much for now. One of the small pieces is broken so I will get a replacement and change it. A couple of pounds should cover that. I have a hanging basket bracket which I need to put up so will get that done. Also if its sunny under the bay needs painting and i have the paint to do this. On top of that I need to start rubbing down the windows out back and filling any gaps and repainting. If its not done this year I'm sure they will fall out. The little things can make such a difference.

I also have a little pile of mending to do which will be another thing off my list.

All I need now is a bit of dry weather to get the outside jobs sorted.

Please let it be dry today. The washing is starting to pile up and I've got none of my plans done yet.

I would like go try and sort the glass in the front door this morning. I managed to break the glass and being a patterned oval piece its going to cost a small fortune to repair. I think for the time being I will have to cut a piece of board to shape and paint it so it blends in. I'm going to have to search for a wood place locally as I can't get to the one I usually use because of a visit from a bunch of stupid racists marching, but that's another story. perhaps if I really search hard enough I could find something suitable around the house.

Spends have been very low here recently. I really need to focus more on this part of my life and get it totally under control. I have started planning for later in the year events such as C#+%"@!\s and w+#'@r so hopefully these areas will be sorted when they arrive.

Right of to find some suitable board. Fingers crossed.:)

There's definately been a massive change at the parsnip patch recently.

Rather than do everything at once I have been changing thing gradually and it's working for me.

Apart from the ongoing money thing which is getting there......slowly, I have been de hoarding the house for a while. Now it's nowhere near done but the changes are beginning to show. It's an ongoing process but I will achieve what I want and need.

I have also been following the frugal living challenge. It's had quite an effect. I thought I was frugal but realised I was playing at it. Now I'm hitting it hard. I have had a cracked window I my front door for ages. I can't afford to get it replaced and decided to board it and paint it to match for now which will look ok. I nearly bought a piece of board the other day until I realised I have a massive panel attached to the cellar door I have been planning to remove. I have old victorian 4 panel doors which were boarded over in the 60's. I have removed all but the cellar door one so I decided to do it last night and also managed to salvage loads of pins. I now have what I need to do the door and it's not cost me a penny.:j:T:D

One other board I have followed is the frugal frump to fab. It's a recent one but has started to take effect. I will no longer let debt make me feel and look like a bag lady.

I have decided to keep away from the more chat related threads. Again I seem to have put my foot in it, not intentionally but sometimes it's hard to put across what you want to say online. After an explanation of what I meant all was fine but .............Anyway time chatting is not time doing.

Now off to do the door. I hope the rain keeps off for painting it.

    Ali

I'm really pleased with what I achieved yesterday. I managed to fix the panels in the door and it cost zero pounds and zero pence. It looks good too so that's a bonus. I also managed to walk around Bee And Queue and spent nothing.....an absolute miracle. I did realise that I need some stuff to fix the drainpipes to the wall, a couple of broken, but that wa when I got home. I can probably get them cheaper from a local shop or market anyway.

One negative on the moneysaving front is I have had a raiding party on the veggie patch and loads of my plants have been eaten. I don't usually suffer too much so I was surprised. Flippin slugs

Work today which really gets in the way but brings in the pennies. I may use the break times to do some financial planning.

    Oh well better get started.

It seems a very long time since the 5am alarm call this morning. Where the smilie with the bags under the eyes. ;)

I have been doing some financial planning today. Jigging and re-jigging. After working out exact figures for weekly, monthly, termly, bi annual and annual payments I now feel I can start to plan ahead PROPERLY and not in my usual slapdash manner.

I have started to get a few bits and bobs of uniform for the little one when he starts school in September. I'm a bad shopper and feel it would be unwise to enter the manic shop scraps later on. I watched from a distance last year and quite frankly was appaled. Hopefully spreading out the payments over the next couple of months will make it less painful.

I so desperately wanted to be at home today and get more sorting done. Roll on Friday.

Right off to bed soon and a little raid before I drop.

I have an expensive month coming up with the little ones birthday and a couple of others but have this overwhelming urge to pay off as much debt as possible. This is one of my biggest downfalls, overpaying what I can afford then ending up short for living for the month.

I'm wishing my life away wanting the end of the month to come to see what's left and where I can cut. Ahhhh, i need to calm down. At least both DH and I are off work for a week in a week so the petrol will be reduced but DH will get through about 4000 teabags per day.;)

On a positive note to decluttering is still going and I can start to see progress. I need to focus my energy in this direction or everything will go t*ts up again.

Oh how I wish I wasn't so impatient. Off to check bank account and see if I have any pennies to scratch the itch as such.
