  • Fly lady for today.....
Last time in the kitchen zone we cleaned our stove tops and knobs. This week we are going to look at the range hood or vent. I never think of this, so mine is horrible. I have a microwave above the stove with a metal vent. If you can remove the metal vent grate, place it on the top rack of your dishwasher for a good cleaning. If you have a regular hood vent take some cleaner (I have used vinegar and baking soda) and get all that grease, dust, and grime off. This may take more than 15 minutes, especially if you have neglected this area as I have!

If you have layers of grease and grime, take this mission one BabyStep at a time. Remember progress not perfection. Please make sure your vent fan is off before attempting this mission!

    Love home made chips
    I am plodding on.

Me too Beanie - I don't have a frier to use so its a wok and lots of smelly stuff so don't do it very much. But after a wet cold day, chips it was.

    And plodding is just fine.

Plant up some of the odds and sods from the compost bin at work.

    really? wow you are keen.

and yes I'm a 1968 girl (though feel frequently like an old lady these days).

I have a lonely gladioli in my garden today, it has burst into bloom and then promptly fallen over from the shock.

Hey there me too sometimes on the old front these days. When did my joints start aching!

Yeah we only use prime material at work so there's often bits of rather sad looking plants/roots etc that are OK to take some and nuture into life again. Its one of the benefits of the job, lots of nice unusual plants which if they aren't looking 100% end up in the compost heap or on the bargain table.

Sometimes I indulge from the bargain table too.

Waves to your gladioli - maybe it wants to come inside.

Free flowers and all that. :money:

    Brekkie.

One month of a three month report done. YAY :T

  • Phoned our old council and DS should now have the forms he needs to fill in for a £1000 grant for his course - they're short staffed so didn't get to it before the closing date so they've extended for him.

Nice little polish of the mumma halo early today.

Touched base with DD in the city, all good there too.

Not the same as picking up their carp here ;) but will do.

    Brekkie - woop woop

Tiring afternoon at work but came home and took your advice and brought the lonely gladioli indoors. It's beautiful and much easier to see in a vase!

  • Nice to hear Pink :)

    Hope you're less tired now.

So - northern lights out here and got a wee glimpse, sometimes the book of face is handy for such things at bedtime. Nice evening with himself prior to that, and the 'fajhitas' turned into curry as wasn't in the mood, so Im very thankful for a full store cupboard.

A 'chinese' curry and rice with some HM chips. Real comfort food. Felt kinda out of sorts yesterday. Think work is niggling at me.

Car is still full of wood, not a hope of emptying that before work so will do that after.

    Bonnie day here.

Fly lady today mission (should you choose to accept it) - is to clean the small appliances out on the counters (kettle, toaster, micro and alike) give them a wee wipe. I might do the breadbin too, its small and out on the side. Front of the fridge could do with a wipe too, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Small steps and all that. Didn't do yesterdays mission as the wood stove was on and I wasn't climbing on that to burn my feet.

    :D

Must do a list and have some brekkie few chores before I head to work.
