Have had a spendy few days. However ..... Drum roll...... I actually bought a dehumidifier off eBay for £40. It's one of the £100 (or thereabouts) ones from home base and it's 2 years old. Got it running in the back room now so will see how it gets on. :T:T. Am sadly very excited. :rotfl:

Hello VeronicaMars (I loved that show when I was... not much younger than I am now and far too old for it.. ha!)

I've read your diary and loved it. Also had a snoop on your blog. The glasses are fabulous. I've seen similar in Clinton's (don't tell Him [Mr-ish Lilt] as He works in the Card Factory) and yours are every bit as good, ideas stolen and Morrisons glasses and all!

Dehumidifiers - these I know much about. They are far too blimmin' expensive. Supersaver got a right bargain there! I live in a flat with a crazy old lady who has bare floorboarding upstairs, and stingy Polish people downstairs who sleep 4 to each bedroom and never have their heating on. So I benefit little from their breezy flat and any heating I put on gets sucked up to crazy ladys flat. I've got ancient rattling single pane sash windows which suck out any other heat. I also have ZERO outdoor space for washing and zip all room for a tumble dryer. I would have to sleep on it, eat at it and use it to store my daughter in if I indulged. All of this, child included, combines to create mould in every room. Three things stop me from going utterly crazy.
    1. Poundland dehumidifying crystals in a plastic pot. You can also get these from home bargains, the 99p store... and pretty much anywhere that sells weird stuff very cheaply. You may need a couple per room dependent on size but they last a pretty long time and you can literally see the water they are sucking up!
    2. Crack the bedroom windows at night. Just a smidge. Enough to stop it looking like there has been a rainstorm on the inside of your window each morning when you wake. I also invested in a rubber window cleaning scraper. Not a mop squeegee type although that would probably work, but just one that I could zip around the windows quickly in the morning, the water luckily for me drains right outside but you could mop it up with clothes that need washing or something?! (See what I did there? How MSE, don't buy paper towels, use dirty clothes to mop up spills! ;)) ANYWAY the act of draining it out each morning meant it couldn't be recycled or anything overnight and didn't build up.
    3. Astonish Mould and Mildew Remover. It is made with bleach and unicorn poo or something equally magical. Hand on heart, NOTHING works like this stuff. Again stocked in the 99p store, Savers and various other places. My mums local cash and carry place stocks it. Not that that helps you... Lol. I had such depressing mould in the grout in my bathroom tiles behind and at the side of the toilet, you couldn't see where the dark blue tiles ended and the black mould began. I sprayed this stuff on and left it. No scrubbing... it just ran off into a puddle on the floor. That was 6 months ago and I haven't used it since. I didn't wash it off, just left it to dry...and my grout is still spotless down there. It worked in all the rooms. Everywhere I sprayed the mould, it literally RAN OFF the wall. I love it. I may marry it. I now control my mould issues with a touch up to any patches that might appear, in seconds. It didn't damage my magnolia paint, or the gloss on the windowsills. I even used it on a fabric rollerblind that bizarrely started sporting mould measles the other week. It didn't even bleach the colour which I kind of expected.

I am such an advocate of 'Astonish' products. I am hand on heart astonished by the results of every product I try. And they do a LOT. Hahaha.

As for drying clothes, I have two huge freestanding airers. they have arms that stick out either way. Imagine a house made of cards. One peak for the legs and two 'flat cards' for the arms. I peg my clothes to them just as I would to a clothes line and stick them by the windows. Rain or shine I have the windows open, and somehow they dry and do not make the room damp. My house always smells like line dried washing as it is technically outdoors so I don't need air fresheners either ;) and just leaving the windows cracked a little bit overnight even with the curtains shut is enough to keep the clothes fresh while they dry and stop the room getting damp.

Anyway I have rambled enough. Love your diary and blog. Have fun, and hope you conquer the damp issues. :) x

I’m 3 pages into this diary and I’m on my second marriage proposal. Marry ME Liltdiddylilt, anyone who is a mould expert, knows who Veronica Mars is, lives at Hogwarts and throws about words like Unicorn Poo can only be my SOUL MATE.

I kid you not when I say I am going out to buy the mould crystals and “Astonish” at lunchtime – I aint lying sister.

I was going to call myself Veronica Corningstone. But it was taken. Glad I didn’t, as it would be Mr Corningstone and Mr Corningstone’s Mum etc etc. All that extra typing… that is just an index finger injury waiting to happen!

And meet Supersaver1000, also familiar with Demeters and also has issues with mould and has also had a marriage proposal from me.

We could be a cheeky mould fighting, Harry Potter watching, penny pinching threesome – too kinky for the MSE threads? Will I get reported for this. Let’s hope so. I like being bad (without the police actually getting involved – I would then cry and phone my mum and dad).

We have had sunshine recently which has helped wonders. But I’m still going out to look at BUY products. A good mould fighter is always prepared.

Hi lobbyludd, us DFWs gotta stick together!!! I’m NEARLY there. Won’t be officially until January 2015 unless something comes up and bites us in the !!!, scuppering all the DFW grand plans. I hope not as we plan to have emergency funds, although Mr Mars wants to spend them all on a motorbike. Don’t think so mate.

Well last two blog posts have been about some free food and a gorgeous little clutch I got (paid for via a voucher - fret not, DFW’s), I even have my clutch do a little strip tease, because I’m sad and I get a little too excited about these things and I have too much free time, obviously:

    1) Get packed and organised for weekend away next Friday night (sounds simple, for someone who lives life in chaos, it is not :naughty:).

    2) Get new passport on Wednesday (appointment booked - [STRIKE]need to get pictures)[/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]3) Send form for new drivers licence.[/STRIKE]

    4) Send mobile off to get fixed.

    5) I have signed up for a race in August, sooooooo want to try and go running every morning next week.

    6) [STRIKE]Weight myself. Been enjoying myself post wedding TOO much![/STRIKE]

    http://www.lifeatthelodgehouse.blogspot.co.uk

Slowly getting through my to-do-list.

Went running yesterday, going running tonight, got drivers licence sent off with marriage certificate today(woman at postoffice actually gave me wrong postage but its fine and has actually SAVED me money :money:). Got passport pictures (found old ones, I DON'T CARE, I'm using them and saving £6 for repacements :T), got appointment tomorrow AM so should be sorted for that.

Now just need to start packing and prepping for Friday tonight!

Had the most amazing roll at lunch, I'm putting a pic on my blog. It cost £4.50 but was the size of my head and the MOST delicious egg mayo roll I have ever, EVER had. :j

However, I have gained 11lbs since my wedding :eek::eek: so is skipped the bit of cake at lunch and I'll be having a banana as a snack today!

Adding 7) Change name on all bank accounts to match IDs

    xoxo

    I don't take friends - I take wives.

    Will you marry me Mummy+2?

I've currently got two offers out there, but it's okay i'll take up Mormonism and be allowed more than one. :rotfl:

We can all live happily at my lodge house and take shots each at fighting the mould. :D

Have been reading and very much enjoying your thread, but... erm I don't fancy this group marriage thing, I'm not that much of a fan...
