Hi All
Our Iron was pronounced dead at 7.47am this morning. :A He had a good life and we looked after him well. He had no rust or anything, so no-one knew he had any underlying conditions… a moment to show your respect for the iron please.
The hoarder in me is not ready to give up on him yet. So although we are going to purchase said Tefal Iron, I am going to keep the Old Yin and see if my dad can have a look at him.
My mum and dad struggled when I was growing up (my dad was very ill) so my dad is accustomed to bringing items back from the dead… :money:
To clarify – my shoes were not lying around gathering mould (that makes it sound like ironing is the least of my worries:rotfl:), I had put them in a box and put them deep into the deepest darkest parts of old triangle shaped cupboard (seriously) and when I brought them out they had the mould (sob, sniff). Paddington bear was also in there… anyone a Paddington bear fan and get that? He came from a cave in the deepest darkest parts of Peru? No? Just me?
I have blogged about a recent DIY attempt. This was one of my poorer DIY attempts. But I’m a hoarder and I actually spent a lot of time and effort on it – so I am keeping it!!! I can only imagine what I am feeling is similar to when a parent keeps their child’s poor school projects…because they tried and it was done with love.
It was an old blue nose gift box (anyone remember the blue nose bears – I think you still get them in card shops). Anyway I recycled an old gift box, the box cost £3.50 and I already had all the stuff to decopatch (crazy debt days) so at least it did not cost me anything! :money:
Sorry it was late last night so hi to the new readers! Mummy+2 & Katie 185!
Supersaver1000 – Demetors – LOVE IT!!! Good riddance to those soul sucking fiends! I am also going to steal that phrase “through the gap like a rat”, ha! I feel very lucky with our little home (price and mould and all). Once I clear my credit cards it is saving for a mortgage deposit full steam ahead! With shabby chic decor and Harry Potter playing in the background. One can dream…
If at first – HoHo I’m going to try that excuse next time I’m cooking dinner or doing the washing – I actually found it funny – because he was dead serious. MEN!!!

Got my Tefal Iron from Argos.
Ohhh my you should have seen the queue... thankfully I had my smart hat on and had reserved. Went right up to the paypoint, entered my reservation number and right up to the collection point. All whilst have the people waited in a HUGE queue just to pay!
I actually got it for £26.24:

Then things went bad...I went to M&S and bought some fruit boxes.
Before anyone judges me - they have vegetarian jelly fruit tubs - do you know how rare it is to get a vegetarian jelly fruit tub? Let me tell you - it is rare.
Berry and mint bliss - BLISS!!!
I'm sorry, IM&S. I'll go sit in the naughty corner now.
I just wish I had more money so I could shop at M&S all the time...

4p Road kill found on the way home from work.
Mr Mars was mortified! The road kill had seen better days! He said surely I would not use it, but I explained to him that it was COLD HARD CASH and that if he didn't want half of my penny jar takings that was fine by me... he changed his tune

:hello:
Thanks for the respects if at first, he will be sorely missed
I love M&S Mummy+2 I swear everything tastes better! Or maybe I just think it tastes better as it is in nice packaging and costs twice the price :A
Glad I made someone laugh T2rry! Ohhhh exciting for the wedding! I made my own invitations (which were AWESOME, I might add) and I made the glasses for my wedding party. Get the champagne flutes from Morris0ns for 4 for £3! I saw this AFTER I had bought mine, of course! I bought them as a gift for my sister when I was her Maid of honor and they cost £55  so DEFO make them!
Don't get me wrong, we got the professionals in for most things but I thought I could have a go at the glasses for cheaper than £55 and I did! :rotfl:

Hi Veronica,
Love your diary so far, very funny. Just wondered, why you were putting money away in savings when you still have loads of debt to pay off? Would it not make more sense to use the money you are putting into your savings to pay off your debt faster? I was in debt (just a few hundred £'s, so I don't claim to know what its like to have thousands of £'s of debt) and I was putting money into savings until a friend asked me why. *ducks for cover* would be interested to know what you think!

Hi Atolaas!
I completely understand why you are asking! :money:
I paid over £100 on each of those cards for the balance transfers to 0%.
So, just now I pay 0% on the cards but the money sitting in my savings account is earning me interest (I'll need to check but something like £8 a month) so I'd rather the money is earning ME interest whilst the cards are on 0%.
The first ones 0% rate runs out in September (I think?) so I will need to transfer around £1.5k to that one (otherwise I would then need to pay a balance transfer fee again or pay interest on the card) and then the next one runs out in January (i think?) so ill transfer the remainder over to that one once the 0% finishes.
Then I plan to close both those cards and run as fast as I can over to the Debt Free Roll of Honour and declare myself!
I never had the savings at the time we went to 0% it was only after our wedding we had enough (or any) money to effectively cancel out the credit cards.
Hope that makes sense to someone else other than the crazy person who lives in my head? Does it? :rotfl:
