I say, well done mellymoo - that's brilliant!
I am going to make my own tomorrow to go in tacos (I like tacos and seem to be able to eat em)

'Pulled' sounds like it's been stretched! Or extruded!

Well done, Melly, that's amazing!
Pulled Pork also tends to be served in a barbecue sauce so I don't know if that is why it has its own original name? Having said that I am still confused of the difference between iced fairy cakes and cup cakes (there isn't one!).
Health update: We have got colds. Still. (Foreverrrrrrr). On that note I have codeine which is supposed to help with coughs, anti-psychotics that are meant to make me sleep, I am living off a vitamin C and still no improvement. I had a plain old fashioned Lemsip and slept soundly for 7 hours. So much for prescription drugs.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I think I'd slept through the 'shredded' marketing phase. 'Pulled' works for me - I've been totally seduced by THAT bit of marketing as 'pulled' does imply to me that real hands are involved in a human process (whereas shredded sounds to me like machinery). And yes, it is normally used for pork (fresh pulled chicken, in Coronation Chick, for example, is delicious but I've never heard it called that.)
On related issue - my sense of taste is poor since I had an infection which robbed me of hearing in my left ear (bloody NHS - if only they had given me the antibiotics I begged for at the time). So I particularly love texture, hence the enthusiasm for pulled meat!
Enjoy your tacos, mellymoo! I am coming off fast today so looking forward to brunch (I'm never hungry when I wake up, even after a fast day.)
Hope you feel better soon, WaS. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the mystery gifts in your parcel, once you are well (no rush)
Nice mental health thing - I thought this was quite a good article and not a penguin I don't think. Things people with anxiety would like those around them to know. http://hellogiggles.com/7-things-people-anxiety-want-loved-ones-knowEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
That is a lovely article, JM!
I have partial hearing loss in my left ear, too. Sadly it is my own fault because I had an infection but back in my workaholic days going to the doctor seemed a waste of valuable time. Eventually I got antibiotics but by then the hearing loss was irreversible.
Funny you should mention my parcel, JM! I have spent the last 2 days quietly colouring some beautiful postcards that someone sent me. It is soothing and something I can do whilst in bed so perfect timing! I was also sent pretty tissues which have obviously been much in use!
I am going to whine about my health again, you may all flee. Ever since this started every meal has resulted in chest pain followed by stomach cramps (and then bathroom trips). I just tried some tomato soup and I am doubled over just from that. I am wondering whether to get WaSp to call my doctor/pharmacist because some of my medications are meant to be digested with food and I either can't eat due to cramps or food goes right through in 20 minutes. Plus I am hypoglycaemic and fruit juice only works for a while meaning I am very dizzy at any exertion. I know there is medicine for an upset stomach but it won't stop the pain of digesting. I am wondering if there is some kind of anti-cramping wonder drug that exists?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Are you taking codeine for the cough? Don't know about you, but codeine makes me throw up.
I would get some advice, though, as it's been several days.
I always used to shred meat with a fork! Held in my own little lily-white!
Just recently, I've seen 'pulled' on cafe boards referring to chicken and beef as well as pork. Grr.
WaS, fairy cake = English
Cup cake = American
Both refer to the same thing, ie. a little cake baked in a paper case and decorated with icing/buttercream/100s and 1000s (or 'sprinkles' if you're American).
Still in bed with this chest infection. Blimming nuisance, as I wanted to do a lot of sorting out before my classes start again next week.
I have cut down on my classes for next term, though, as I decided that my pit of a house needs to take precedence over going out and doing things, although I might escape to make another spoon if I find there's a course!
I'd also like to make a greenwood spoon. I've never done any wood work, and yet I love wood to bits!(I just lurve spiders!)

Aw, sorry about the chest infection, Pyxis, those are horrid. I want to see your greenwood spoon! Your other one was wonderful!
My parcel contained many things to make lovely cupcakes/fairy cakes! I shall supply pictures when I make them. It also contained a sushi set which I desperate to try, sushi being one of my favourite foods. Another thing that is soothing me greatly right now is a lovely wind chime that I have up by the open bedroom window. It is tinkling gently which is hugely relaxing.
I take codeine everyday anyway and have for years, however I am usually eating, too so that could be a factor. I am supposed to take my antidepressant with food because it gives me reflux. I shall nag WaSp to call the pharmacy, I think.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Hi WaS - my father in law takes Buscopan for IBS cramps but I'm pretty sure it's prescription only.
And we're having homemade pulled beef on pizza for tea...

Hello there carrie! Aw, thank you for popping out! I have IBS which I think is triggered, hence the cramps. I shall get WaSp to ask if the pharmacist if they have any, if not my prescription is due tomorrow so now I am wondering if I can ask my GP to add something on? Thank you so much, that has helped me!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
