WaSp makes the towels damp, Pyxis! He uses 3 per shower and drapes them over the bath and forgets that they're there. Hence when I want one for my hot water bottle (or for a shower, for that matter) they are all wet!
Ah!! WaSpish birthday present idea!...... A long-length towelling bathrobe! You just put it on straight out of the shower and it does away with the need for towels! One with a hood means no hair-towel needed, and towelling bath slippers dry the feet beautifully!
I don't use hot water bottles they scare me always afraid they might leak..
I've been using HWBs my whole life and the only time one leaked was when I hadn't screwed the top in properly, as I was in a tearing hurry.

Funnily enough, ima I just braved the phone and called him. He will leave a prescription for Buscopan at reception for WaSp to collect which should at least stop the IBS cramps. He also agreed it's a typical seasonal flu, do NOT come into the health centre (which made me smile), but if I start coughing up anything brown, can't swallow or have breathing difficulties to let him know and a doctor will come to me. It is too late for antivirals and he has no idea why I wasn't registered for a flu vaccination this year considering I take steroids and said he will remedy that for next year. He also confirmed that I am looking at feeling pretty ill for 10 days with a noticeable improvement by 14. It may drag on for longer as my immune system is compromised so don't panic if it does but at least it should be milder after 2 weeks.

Which is thoroughly depressing and now I might cry, not least because it means another 9 days of the voices pointing out how I will be dead soon.

Ooooh, good idea, Pyxis! WaSp uses more towels than me! One for his hair, and one each for the top and bottom of his body!

Ok, WaS, so is one to assume that the voices have spent up to seven years training to be a doctor/GP, so of course they are much more likely to be able to diagnose you as being at death's door than your GP is?
What stupid idiots those voices are! I think they need to enrol on a Logic course, if you ask me! Tell you what! As they've obviously far too much time on their hands, set them to washing the pile of towels, then drying them with all the hot air they keep spouting!

Hahahahaha! that made me laugh! In a way it has its advantages because if they weren't telling me I was dying they would be implying that I was to blame for a certain horrid aeroplane tragedy in the news right now. So at least they're distracted.

I currently feel about 5 years old and want someone to read me a story and wrap me in blankets. I was doing ok until I was told to expect to be ill for 10 days, that's another 5 days! WaSp isn't exactly overjoyed on his own behalf either. I also need to cancel my carer because unlike a cold I am still contagious, obviously she can't risk giving this to her elderly and unwell clients. I don't have to cancel but feel I should on guilt and principal.

I shall stop being pathetic in a minute.

I'm going to start a new diet in January. It's called Diet Recovery and the idea is to try to repair the damage done to my metabolism from years of crash dieting and medication. The idea is to eat loads of food - at least 3 healthy meals a day, lose processed food and try to avoid low fat things and aspartame (my beloved pepsi max and coke zero), and whenever I start to feel hungry I should eat - but no snacking, it has to be an actual meal. Nothing is to be considered good or bad food and I should aim for more calories than my daily allowance I am probably about to gain another million pounds but this has to be worth a go. If nothing else, I will get to have yummy food in massive quantities.

That definitely wasn't you. Tell the stupid voices to eff off.

Its ok to be pathetic when you don't feel well. If you like, I will tell you a story.

Back at work today. Too much to do. Had visitors last night. Will join you all when I can resurface.

Actually, you know Code, there's sense behind that. If you make a concerted effort to eat good, nourishing foods with a high vitamin/mineral content and in the form of meals cooked from scratch, you may actually find you eat fewer calories! But that doesn't matter either, because it retrains you to think in terms of nourishing meals rather than processed snacks. Sounds good to me!

Let's face it, when you see a plate of stir fry, with all the reds, greens, yellows and oranges and little bits of browns and whites, with a bowl of say fruit salad and custard for pud, it just all looks so delicious! And next meal of say, cheese on toast made with mustard and sliced tomatoes, sprinkled with chopped chives, and if you like, a fried or scrambled egg on the side, with a piece of homemade cake or fruit crumble for pud, it looks and tastes so much nicer than some ready-made convenience meal!

Oh b****r, I'm hungry now! :rotfl: But am not up to cooking! :(

I do like to cook. I used to cook everything from scratch and kept a well stocked freezer full of 'ready meals' I cooked myself.

Sadly DH does not like much in my repertoire and wont eat anything from the freezer, so I kind of gave up on it all. Now our freezer is full of stuff.

I do like the idea that if I'm hungry I can't have a mars bar or a pack of crisps but have to have proper food. The difficulty is going to have to have lots of meal food at work.
