Slightly reminiscent of an older lady I knew who when she thought she was having a heart attack started cleaning the house ready for the paramedic. Luckily it was only indigestion so she didn't finish herself off in the process.
However when she finally capitulated on the carer front she found she was glad of the company and stopped worrying what they thought. Maybe Mil will find the same when she gets used to it?

    Four candles anyone?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • So glad that stopped, errata! Mine don't sing, just swear a lot and are generally horrid. I ignore them for the most part, they just get more persistent and louder when I'm stressed.

MIL would do something like, elsien! I am hoping that she gradually adjusts to having carers and doesn't feel quite so under pressure.

WaS, could the carers be primed to say, 'Oh my goodness, how wonderfully clean it is in here' on occasion. (Don't want to make millefleur worse though. My nan used to clean before the cleaning lady came.)

Make a tinfoil hat if it will work!

The other thing is that I know millefleur is upset, but do let her know if she is being unreasonable. Now, it may well be that 9am is a better time all round for the household; it may also be that she has to understand that 8am is the best time to fit it in, and that she will just have to have a few uncomfortable days until she gets used to it. You have enough to deal with, with all the triggering that is going on, be sure to make your SW understand they have to help you reduce the triggering while you can still be someone very supportive to millefleur.

    elsien, good luck with tomorrow.

  • That's an idea. Her house is never untidy, no matter how bad she feels she cleans everyday and always has. The odd comment on how clean it is could help.

I have no idea if they could change the time to 9am, it is meant to be an early morning call to check on her after sleeping so they may not want alter it. Plus they have other clients to take into consideration. I am hoping to throw most of this at the feet of my own social worker.

Yes, Elsien, best of luck tomorrow! If you're not too tired when you get home, let us know all about it!

I've been doing lots of trawling around charity shops, and there's a lot of smart work clothes in them! Might be worth a look, once you know what's needed!

Talking of long weights, Elsien, I think you're like me and always trying to get a round tuit. They're quite rare, aren't they?
However, I did make a start today on the paperwork that was my Dining Table of Doom. Will miss classes tomorrow, 'cos I must persevere with it. Got all my tax stuff to do. :(

WaS, I think Cynthia is needed to drown those pathetic voices. Saddle up, Cynthia, Yee-ha! :rotfl:

I am ploughing through Christmas cards. I'm finding everything a chore this year, even though I am quite well organised, and the cards etc are beautiful.

From cnn, I can't imagine an appointment long enough to get through these questions:
